resetting security code

If any one can help, I recently had the battery disconnected in my 1991 bmw 525i and found upon restablishing power that my radio was locked and
I needed to either input or reset the CODE. I have the code but I am unsure as to how to input it to regain use of the radio. If any one can help, the BMW repair shops have taken a large enough share of my childrens college fund to bring it back into the shop for what I think is probably very easy but albiet elusive to me.

Instructions should be in your owner's manual. Have you checked?

Try going to an up-scale radio shop, or a factory radio repair center in your area. One of them should be able to talk you through it. Avoid places like Best Buy for this info. Also if you call the BMW dealer and ask to speak to a technician they will more that likely tell you what you need to know for free. Good Luck!
