2014 honda accord hybrid- front or rear wheel drive

I understand the new accord hybrid doesn't contain a transmission as we know it, and is driven thru it's rear wheels by an electric motor or gas motor with just a clutch or both together, the ratios are fixed for this driveline, if this is true, this won't be so stable on snow and ice as a front driver would be. A little more information about this technology to the general public could make a difference in the snow climate areas. How about some discussion on this from edmunds, PM is where I found out about the no transmission technology.
