really strong gas smell

I have a 1995 pathfinder. And when i start it up and let it idle to warm up i start to smell gas real bad for at least 5 to 10 minutes. It only has the gas smell the very first time i start it up to let it warm up. No more after that. What could be causing this? Does anybody know?

    Sounds like a problem in your EVAP system (the vent valve solenoid is a common failure).
