Can I turn off stability control on my 2004 Cadillac SRX?
I just bought a 2004 srx. The test drive was great. Two days later on my way to work in dry conditions the stability control kept displaying it was engaging. Luckily I didn't notice any problems just the display. I had to stop at the rinky think dealer we bought it from to drop off some paperwork and told them what happened, they said to take it to a cadillac dealer that it's a common easy fix. But looking through all the forums it doesn't seem like an easy fix. Is this car going to be a pain in my [non-permissible content removed]? I love it but can't afford to take it in all the time. Can we disable the stability control and just use traction control?

We have a running topic on this problem:
You might want to check that out. I've linked you to the last page of comments but you can go "back in time" if you wish as well.
One owner posted that you can disable stability control by pressing the TC button for 5 seconds.
Apparently, these mysterious warnings are caused by bad sensors in either the steering or brakes, and this is a well known and common issue with these cars.
To actually fix the problem, you should go to a qualified technician and have the car's systems scanned for clues on how to repair it.
