I think I do a bit better with my 5-speed Forester.

I'd include the 2015 X3 diesel. Likely to do better than all of them.

"I think I do a bit better with my 5-speed Forester."

As always these are just the 'rated' mpg. People often get over or under those numbers, it depends a lot on driving style and where you drive.

The new X3 diesel is rated at 34mpg highway (and 27 city, 30 overall), so it would be tied for second on this list.

A reporter is looking for shoppers who recently traded in a midsize sedan for an SUV because they think gas prices aren’t a big deal anymore or they were just blown away by the fuel-efficient crossover offerings now available. If you think you can help, please reach out to pr@edmunds.com by no later than Wednesday, September 10, 2014.

'I think I do a bit better with my 5-speed Forester'. This is because over-cautious, kneejerk Subaru drivers never hit the gas pedal.

I see a pattern with online comments. Civility can only be upheld for about 5 posts, no matter how neutral the topic. Cars are a pretty neutral topic, and sure enough, @Jonee's snide, rude comment is #6. So sad.

I'm just starting to shop for a 2014 CXV (Forrester included), so this article was helpful.
