That silver 2019 BMW 5-series with 17k miles for c. 35k seems like a good deal. I'm guessing that the original msrp would have been c. $55?
I’m sure the BMW aficionados would know more than me. But, ever time I’ve looked at a 5 Series (in fairness, I haven’t looked at any for a few years), they’ve all been in the low-mid $60K range. But, those would be brand new ones.

And with @oldfarmer50’s or @Sandy’s poster buddy discount, those cars could be even harder to pass up.

We get $1000 discount but only on Enterprise cars.
I guess your companies don’t practice reciprocity. I think you otta get @Sandy canned permanently from Enterprise (there has to be some dirt on him somewhere in your files) so he can go back to Hertz. No sense wasting a good opportunity for the members in here who were thinking of a car purchase.

2019 530i's that went to Hertz were likely fairly base models in the upper 50s - figure $58-$59k. Figure most people would have paid $50k-$54k for it new depending on how shrewd they were at negotiating.

I've now sent an email to all 3 employees of that dealership who emailed me about the Benz. lol. One is the Sales Manager. Let's see what happens. In my email I said "I'm in NJ, but I have friends who will come inspect the car for me, but I need to know the driver's seat is in good nick and the underside is clean before I ask them to drive 30-40 mins."

If those BMWs are in good shape $35000 for cars with just over one years worth of driving. The trucks are really good buys, 2020s with half a year of driving. If I was in the market I would seriously consider, especially if oldfarmer or Sandy didn't run it into the ground.
On a slightly different topic; A young kid cam around and said he would power wash the rear patio stones, the deck, and the front sidewalk for $600!. We bought a power washer for $200, Our retired handyman guy came over at 8:30 a.m. and put the power washer together. He did the patio in the back, the deck, the sidewalk in front and the driveway......finished at 11. It even picked up most of the weeds and moss between the patio stones.........he charged.....$80 for everything. We gave him $120 which we were happy to pay....and now we have a power washer! Came out looking great too, even got out the weeds and most of the moss....left the sand.

Contractor showed up here today to start on my stone wall out front. Interesting group, the contractor has all the toys including an expensive-looking newish F-250 with Gator brand trailer plus another newish Ford pickup and trailer for towing around his Kubota tractor/backhoe. He has 3 grandsons (that's what he calls them but they look very different from each other) doing most of the grunt work while he uses the excavator. Some high comedy looking for the buried water line and shutoff that eventually required use of a metal detector but now all sorted. I don't envy these guys, this is hard work.
He also suggested that once it's all done that I let him quote me on repairs to the lawn etc that will be needed. Depending on how this goes I might let him do that as he says it wouldn't be expensive.
That's something to keep in mind, all of the premium German cars in these fleets will be sparsely equipped. These are those blowout lease specials one sees in the fine print but are never on the lot. I suspect those trucks have an even more miserly option load.
The 7ers down into the low 40K range might be a minor deal too, but I would be scared of an ex-rental 7er.

Offhand I’d say that’s a good price. Before the plague hit we we’re delivering F-150s to dealers for $27-31k and the dealers were retailing them for $39-41k. So if those Silverados are anyway comparable I’d say that’s a bargain.
I’ve become convinced that pick ups are some of the best rental vehicles to buy because they don’t tow, don’t plow and rack up most of their miles being shuffled between offices since few people rent them.

next time I go to Ireland, I am renting the smallest car they have (a VW Up! or some such) with a manual. Not the barge of a Land Rover I got last time.

We have been in the countryside in England....and we could have rented a car. Do I want to attempt a turn about or making right and left turns onto another street.........not really. Not worth getting heart palpitations over....right hand drive here wouldn't be that bad....but, who needs the extra hassle, especially at the take out window?
Driver, it is actually easier over there. Because you are still sitting/driving in the middle of the road, which is natural. I would find it harder to drive on the right, sitting by the curb.

True.....but, I'm not sure about round abouts....and then coming off of one. Even crossing a street is hard to do there, have to remember to look to the right instead of left before leaving the curb.
I found driving in the UK (and NZ) takes a day or two to get adjusted, such that I didn't bump curbs on the LH side. Then there's the fact that (at least when I did it) the cars were all manual transmission, so it had to do with shifting with the left hand while driving on the "wrong" side of the road. Either way, once you've done it a time or two, it's not such a big deal, so long as you stay on the A roads or motorways. Many roads in the UK and NZ are much narrower than what we see in NA, so that being able to deal with that makes you almost a local. That said, a GPS was a godsend. If I had to mess with maps amid all the rest, it would have been much less pleasant. And yes, if you're uncomfortable with roundabouts, the UK isn't for you.
I could do it I am sure....just not worth the risk to me. Everyone's situation is different. I had 15 employees, a business to run, and my beautiful wife with me....I don't want us to end up in a hospital recovering from injuries for a month! To each his own.

I would think a 4x4 would come with an 8 in a big truck like that but guess not. Not a lot of detail in that Hertz ad.

It's called learning.

Also good signage. Arrows included. And at road crossings, huge “look right” warnings
