GMC Jimmy tries to engage 4wd while driving?
It seems I have to all too common problem with the blasted 4wd in these things. I've looked up videos on the vacuum actuator under the battery, but the issue isn't that the vehicle will get stuck in 4HI or 4HI can't engage - it's that, while I'm driving, it seems especially with some bump or sharper turn, the Jimmy will try to engage in the 4wd and I'm stuck with this loud whirring sound until I can get somewhere to let the vehicle rest, and then it's fine for a little while until it starts up again. I don't want to tear up my front end by driving it, so any suggestions of what may be causing this? I plan to pull the battery out today, but just by looking at the actuator I'm not so sure the problem can be diagnosed, as it happens sporadically while driving. Still kind of new to DIY mechanics, so any help is appreciated!

hard to say without diagnosing it in person but some people have reported this same issue and they solved it by replacing the dash switch.
