I have a 1999 miata with a tear the length of a quarter on it. Is it possible to repair the tear without getting a new top? Can I do it at home or should I get it done professionally? How much does--or should it cost to fix? Thanks in advance.

I think if you want the repair to last a few years, it should be done professionally, by taking the top off and sewing it. I'd figure around $300 for that. You may want to just glue it up a bit or tape it fromt the inside and wait until your plastic window starts to bite the dust, and then you can get the window and the patch done at the same time, since the top comes off for both.
