I know that there's a billion different things that are advertised to pour into your car for better this or that. I know that most of these are just marketing schemes. Anyways, I have actually heard some people praise Z-Max for how it works. I would like to know if anyone in here has used it or knows about someone who has and could post their experiences with it. Thanks! -Steve

P.S. Check out http://www.zmax.com/ for some info. from the manufacturer.

Hi SDilullo! Did you read the "experts" section of their web page? It tells a lot.

    http://www.zmax.com/experts/

Did you notice that these experts say absolutely nothing of any value or substance, other than that zmax gave them money and a ton of product?

"zmas made the difference" says AJ Foyt......could this mean that zmax's sponsorship made a difference? You bet it could! He says "the" difference. What difference? Between what and what?

    Notice the aviator's quote:

"FAA approved". What that means is you are ALLOWED to put it in the engine, just like the FAA would allow you to put a geranium in your cockpit if you asked them.

What this stuff is is probably a simple upper cylinder lube that's been on the market for 50 years. You could just as easily put typewriter oil in a jar and call it "sdilullo-max" and it would be harmless enough for FAA approval and, (include a large check) AJs testimonial.

Anyway, I looked over this site and in my personal opinion as a private citizen, it is complete and utter BS.

gave it a try anyways. LOL went back 30 days later and got my money back too. they claim an outrageous warranty as part of their program. yeah right, anybody that changes their oil at Zmax's time intervals and puts their product in to boot, isn't going to have a problem exceeding the mileage. yep, it's a joke alright, joke on the ones who keep using it. i've also been a fan of AJ Foyt since my dad introduced me to the racing scene, but once saw and heard AJ talking and working with his crew, wouldn't trust him to sell me a screwdriver after that.

Trust me on this one. To get the FAA to approve ANYTHING is like pulling teeth, especially when it comes to power plants. They don't care if you put a geranium in your cockpit, but they care VERY much what kind of fuel or fuel additives you put in the tank! There are VERY strict overhaul requirements also. If you had to do your car engine as often as an aircraft owner has to do his aircraft engine, you couldn't afford to own a car! It took years for the FAA to approve of avgas, which is just high octane gasoline. I've used Z-MAX with no noticeable difference. I know all the evidence against all these additives, however, I had a '91 Sable with the dreaded 3.8L motor. I used Tribotech every 50k and did not have the head gasket blow as did many others. I can't prove that the Tribotech helped, but.........

Yes, I understand, thank you. What I should have said was the reason they probably got FAA approval (if, in fact, they did) was because they are possibly re-labeling a product already approved or using something that is inert and/or so harmless the FAA knows all about it.

I'm not saying the stuff is BAD, all I'm saying is that it appears to be nothing new or special, and that the 'evidence' presented is slim-pickings indeed. .
