Chevy TrailBlazer muffled noise when accelerating

My 02 trailblazer makes a loud muffled noise when I press the accelerator. When I reach about 60 mph it isn't as loud. It's pretty loud as of I would've wanted a loud muffler. Please help!!!

Exhaust leak I'd guess. You'd best get 'er up on a lift. Exhaust leaks are easy to test for.

Hmmm....hard to say--if the catalytic converter were plugged up, forcing exhaust out through the system that precedes the catalytic, that could affect mileage, but just a general exhaust leak, no, that should have a bearing on MPG.
