    This has always been a strength of the MDX. If I recall correctly the original MDX was wide enough to hold the narrow part of a stardard sheet of plywood between the wheel wells.

    It's interesting because some of the other utility vehicles on the Accord platform--e. g., Accord Tourer/TSX Sport Wagon, Crosstour-- suffer from a load floor narrowing to approx 30 in between the suspension towers inboard of the wheel wells. The MDX has a different rear suspension design, possibly more like the Odyssey's, which fits underneath the load floor, leaving only the wheel well intrusion, which is further disguised by aft buttresses creating storage niches.
