Used 2009 Nissan Altima purchase with previous lien records. Please guide me!

So I'm trying to buy a used Nissan Altima 2.5 S which is in year 2009 with 80K miles and for the price 10K. I have noticed that in Auto Check it says there's a record stating loan/lien in 2012. I wanted to know what could be the reasons for this

PS. I'm purchasing this car from a local dealer. The title and registration would be taken care by the dealer. So I want to know what all documents I should expect the dealer should be providing. Will he provide me the previous title document too?

A lien means someone took out a loan to buy the car, and a bank secured their interest with a lien against the title.

Hey kyfdx. Thanks I'm using a loan as well so for the title application I should be mentioning my finance company for the lein part right?

And will I be handed the previous title of the car?

The dealer should handle all the paperwork based on the information you give them. You generally don't see the previous title to the car when you buy from a dealer.
