WELL....my 2002 Impala had this issue, otherwise a decent car. I thought surely they would have fixed the issue by now, so I bought my daughter a 2013 LTZ last year, just barely out of the bumper to bumper and low and behold, traction control and reduced power issue just like my 2002. WHY is this not a recall issue? It is dangerous !!!!!!!! NTBS not doing a thing !!!!

I have had my 2013 impala right over a yr.it's been acting crazy with the traction control light coming on and the engine loosing power. I've had 2 different appt with the dealership here and they have managed to misplace my info and appt both times. I am going to try again next week. I can say that I will never buy another GM product in my vehicle buying life. This problem has almost caused multiple wrecks on the interstate. My speed will go from 70-75 down to almost nothing less than 20. You would think that with this happening to so many GM vehicles that the company would figure it out and recall these vehicles and fix it before people start to die or be seriously injured.

bought my wife a 2012 chevy impala. its outside the warranty and now i see the true colors of the workmanship.

if i had known this has been a problem for this many years, i would have never bought the car. missed this issue when i was doing my initial research.

i should not have to pay to repair a manufacturers defective design.

I bought my wife a 2013 Chevy Impala LTZ with 13k miles on it. She has been telling me for the last year about issues with noise and acceleration when turning left. I drove her car for awhile to experience it for myself. There are Stabilitrak and ABS error messages, and the noise is awful. It's better when traction control is turned off. Now the car still has less than 38k, and it's getting worse. After reading up on this, it seems to be a very common problem. I think Chevy should fix it, honestly. Very seriously considering fixing it and selling the car. It's likely that this is the last Chevy I'll buy. What to do? I don't want my wife driving an unsafe vehicle!

What did the dealership say after they did a computer diagnosis on the problem and looked at history in the ABS system?

Sounds to me like you might have a poor connection or break in the wire for the speed sensor in the hub in a wheel OR you have a speed sensor/hub that's worn and moving slightly allowing the gap between the sensor and the cogs on the wheel that it sensors to read the speed to increase when the wheel is turned one way.

That might be turning on the ABS control/stabilitrak which is attempting to correct the direction of the car by activating the ABS on a wheel to control over speeding of that hub or control yaw or turning rate relative to the steering wheel . In other words, preventing a skid or reducing the skid possibility.

The first thing to do is get a diagnosis from a reputable GM shop that deals with these all the time. Just like people with Hondas and Toyotas go to their shops for the problems those cars DO have. The car needs to be connected to the computer that can read all the many computers and their history. Since you imply the car makes noise consistently when in a turn, this should be easy to diagnose by professionals.

This is not something you can expect to diagnose from a distance unless you are conversant with the operation of the ABS/traction control/Stabilitrak systems.

I am not sure why you think GM should fix it. The car is over the 36,000 mile warranty and over the 3-year warranty other than for rust through and powertrain.!
