I noticed also that the throttle throw was longer than average, but I think what they are trying to do here is preserve alot of that play for low speed driving (city and stop and go traffic)

It only takes a few seconds to realize what the throttle response is, but they might be padding their chances on the safety side and to accomodate smooth and easy speed transitions at low speed or launch.

To illustrate this fact, my brother in law drives this Dodge shadow which is in pretty sad condition... He wanted to try out the G35 and so I said no problem... He gets in adjusts the seats and mirrors, fastens the seat belt, looks over his shoulder, steps on the gas and THAT is when it got interesting!

The next thing I know we've lurched into the middle of the road and almost to the median! and he's going "WHOA! Geez!" He steps on the brake and we both get that hard Gforce lunge into the seatbelts.

He said he pressed the accelerator the way he does in the shadow and also the brake, but the burst of instant speed from my car was totally unexpected and surprised him :)

Infiniti might have been aware of this potential phenomena and made the response curve of the throttle a bit exponential as well as making the travel on the long side. Can you imagine what might have happened if we traded seats at a stop light, and he was just trying to move a bit forward closer to the crosswalk? He might have taken out a few pedestrians!

    Just some thoughts,

The fancy/heavy silver and gold Infiniti Emblem for the key chain has rubbed the paint off of the finish trim plate that surrounds the ignition switch. You may want to consider removing it from your key chain. I have discussed this with the local Infiniti dealer, but they are unsure if they will do anything about it. Regional rep here this next week and will let me know. At least I didn't get the laugh I would have gotten out of the Ford dealer service center where I had purchased my last 3 explorers 1 F150 and 1Expedition.

Oh come on, you know full well that Ford would have been more than willing to repair the damage.

Assuming you were willing to fork over the $400 they wanted, for the repair :-) I took my Mustang GT in, to have the brakes examined (they had started to squeal), and asked for an estimate. The service rep told me that it may be as much as $250. I told him I didn't need the rotors turned, just new pads. He said that IS the price for new pads. If they had to turn the rotors, it could have been $250-$300, per side (front/rear). I laughed and told him to have someone look at it, but NOT to fix anything, until they called me. He called later and gave me the diagnosis. What did he say???

There's nothing wrong with the brakes, the squealing is NORMAL. What a MORON. Infiniti, here I come (as soon as you have a 6 speed available).

sanandton- Thanks for the tip about the Infinitie key chain rubbing the paint off the finish trim plate. I've noticed that when the key is in the ignition, the key chain is so long that it dangles and swings when I corner. Plus I lost the key off it once (with the clip that comes out for the valet key) since it pulls out too easily by accident. I do like the Infiniti logo/chain, but I wish the key was more secure when attached to it.

Read the article in ROAD and TRACK magazine last night on the sports sedans comparison test, and it was indeed nice to see the G35 rated first. And although the BMC 330i was cited by many of the editors as still the benchmark for luxury high performance road sedans (and rightfully so), it did me well to have confirmed what I knew about my seat of the pants experience in the G35, which, for the money (in my humble opinion), is the BEST you can buy. One of the things those comparison tests never seem to address is vehicle reliability history, but I realize they are comparing performance (plus a fair amount of subjective preference), and reliability history may be tough to ascertain for new vehicles. However, I do like what CONSUMER REPORTS does by reporting and projecting on the reliability of the manufacturer for a certain model (Nissan in general, and Infinitie inparticular, have stellar reliability history). Anyway, whoever said that G35 owner's should buy the July '02 issue of ROAD AND TRACK and frame the article (bronze it?) was correct. For some strange reason (never done this before) I have started a file and make a copy of every article about the G35 that is posted on web sites or published in magazines, and as a I look back over them, it still amazes me how positive most of the reviews are (they seem to get more positive as each month passes). There seemed to be more negative reviews then the G35 first came out here in the USA last March, and most of the relatively negative comments that were made seemed to center on the interior materials, some questioned a 'dumpy read end' design (but many also seemed to like the design, including your's truly), gas mileage, and (no surprise) lack of a manual transmission/clutch. Early reviews seemed to question the outside design and styling as unremarkable, however, many later reviews praise it. This is NOT scientific, just my general observation at the end of a long week on a Friday afternoon.

Still love washing my G35 on the weekends and then going out about town. It's still a rush to drive it home after work and inquiring minds still want to know about this car I'm driving. You really can't appreciate the car unless, like so many of you have said, you take it out and push it a bit. Then, wow!

My wife loves it too! No one else has to but they are missing out on a very special car. Clean it every other day and it is beautiful.

Day 1 buy car, drive it home

Day 7 something airborne hits passenger door, chips paint.

Day 12 get rear-ended on freeway

    aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Bumper took the hit pretty well. Looked much better than I was expecting from the feel of the impact. First two body shops I took it to couldn't estimate repairs (car is too new, not yet in the computer). New bumper cover next week, $600. This had better be it or I'm going to need therapy.

"CALIBER COLLISION CENTER" THAT DID THE WORK
DID AN EXCELLENT JOB AND THE PAINT MATCH WAS

Finally found dane4's post #3913 about the Garmin StreetPilot III, and m45guy's/cdpinhead's posts #3984-6. I'm at the same point now about buying aftermarket, but locally (Vegas) I've been disappointed about the total lack of availability and lack of knowledge on the Garmin GPS. At least a salesperson at Gateway was able to steer me to Fry's in Southern California. At least the Fry's in San Diego has them available on the floor, so tomorrow A.M. I hope to drive there & see the Garmins firsthand (need one w/voice prompts). Can any of you tell me what type of voice prompts there are? Does it tell you something like "2 miles to exit on the right... 1 mile to exit on the right... approaching exit on the right... ding, ding [if you make the right turn])? Are you able to incorporate AAA Tour Books on the Garmin unit (like at Hertz's Magellan Neverlost II system)? Do you have to have a laptop or PDA hooked up to the Garmin while you are on the road, or is it stand alone after downloading info from a PC/PDA? How long does it take to download into the Garmin? Are you still happy w/it? Anything should be changed about it? Your input is very much appreciated. At least I'm told Fry's has a 30-day guarantee w/all the packaging.

I am still COMPLETELY satisfied with the Garmin SP III unit... Its been a wonderfully useful tool in driving, and yes, it does do all the voice prompts where it will actually do four things to keep you informed of upcoming navigation changes...

    1. It will ring with a tone to get your attention (like a *ding*)

    2. The screen will magnify to show you a simplified version of the upcoming turn (street names are removed and the street lines are made very thick) It is still an exact graphical representation of the intersection coming up with a large arrow showing the turn.

    3. It tells you how much farther you have to go before the turn, and the distance is called out appropriate to your current speed, so if you are going 30 mph it will say something like "In 1.2 miles, turn right" then again at half a miles and then down to "In 400 feet, turn right" all with the tone and the popup.

If you are going 100 miles an hour it will say "In 2 miles, exit right" and then "In one mile, exit right" at over 100mph those pesky exits come up fast and you need much more time to move over :)

    4. It will (in very large and easy to read text show you the name of the street to turn on, or the name of the freeway exit.

I've had LOTS of fun and use out of the Garmin unit! I find that I just have a natural fascination with these nav devices :)

So to answer your question, yes indeed, it gives you LOTS of voice prompts and the prompts are even tailored for specific situations like rotaries... it will say "Enter Rotary and exit rotary at 2nd right... and it shows you a large graphic of the rotary and an arrow which shows you clearly which exit to take... The thing I really like about the popup graphic is that it is a direct zoom of the map data and not just some "canned" graphic showing a "standard intersection"... I just entered a rotary the other day with 5 feeding streets and I can;t tell you how much nicer it is to glance at the screen and get the instant info on how your entrance and exit is going to look...

Of course you can disable or enable any of these features you want, and in some cases, I have disabled the map popup because I was navigating thru block sized turns and when the popup stays on screen for a few seconds you can;t see the moving map and that can be a bit disorienting... but that situation is rare.

One of the things you're really going to like (and there are lots of cool whiz bang features taht will keep you playing for a while *smile*) is being able to enter a specific address and have it route you there... I credit the Garmin system for letting us look at LOTS of houses for sale in our area, whereas if we used a paper map, we would probably only have looked at 1/4 the number of houses.

Trying to find that address in the dead of night (heading to a party) is now no longer even a concern :)

Oh, and the other day a friend of mine asked on the cell phone... "When are you guys going to get here?" and I looked down at the Garmin and said 14 minutes and 37 seconds LoL! But I was wrong! We got there in 14 minutes 32 seconds :) (It calculates the roads max speeds, the speed you are driving and continuously compares the two to give a very accurate updated prediction of when you will arrive at the destination.

Let me know if you need more info...

    Faenor/Dane4

OH! If you are looking for a GOOD price make sure to check out www.gpsdiscount.com first before you buy at fry's Fry's has some good deals but for $985.00 I got the unit with a 256 meg memory chip from GPS discount... the standard chip it comes with is a 64 or 32 meg chip I think, and holds a much smaller area...

Hey, send some G35s to Michigan. I haven't seen any on the streets yet! What are you going to do, let those BMW people rule the streets? Huh?

G20s and I30/35s have sold well here.

How long is the download process? The only zone I'd initially need is the California-Nevada one. Can the Garmin hold only 1 zone, or would I be able to download the zone that includes Arizona-Utah at the same time? I saw the price at gpsdiscount but I must have misinterpreted it: why would it be so much cheaper there? Is gpsdiscount a stable reliable company like Frys, Circuit City, etc., or would I be gambling on an unknown? I want to get the laptop/gps now, before I get the car. BTW, thoroughly enjoy your posts... always such a pleasant tone, as well as informative.
  • g35guyg35guy Member Posts: 6
Alright, this may be a stupid question, but I'm sick of conflicting answers. With a DVD based nav system such as infiniti's, are you able to play regular movies or do you need an aftermarket modification?
  • faenorfaenor Member Posts: 99
Thank you for your kind words :) I appreciate that. I try to be completely open and as objective as possible when I post (though sometimes things I'm passionate about generate a little emotion LoL!) But I realize that message forums like these are outstanding for exhanging ideas and information, but often lacking in the accuracy of transmitting tone and emotions :) Because of that I try without fail to assume that what might have sounded insulting was the complete opposite, and just carry on from there.

Ok, on to the answers :)

The Garmin units, I believe, come with a 32 meg datacard as the standard "basic" package, and that amount of memory is enough to hold only a portion of California in Region 1. Because of that you would have to select the area of California you were most interested in and then if you were planning a longer trip to say, Nevada, you would have to download the parts of the region along your route and at the destination and origin.

I would definitely get at the very least a 64 meg datacard because each entire region (Region 1 is all of Cali and Nevada will fit in 64 meg. and once you download the whole region to the memory card you never have to fiddle with it ever again (unless of course you are going to drive to Washington state or Utah in which case you would have to get Region 2 map anyway)

Downloading the regions from your Computer to the datacard is quick and easy! I use the USB and it takes about 2 minutes to get both region 1 and 2 on the card.. then just slip the card into the SP III and you're good to go.

I have the 256 Meg datacard and Region 1 and 2 fit on it at 112 Meg... that means presumably that I could get another whole 2 regions on there if I wanted, and I don't don't expect to be driving past Colorado anytime soon :)

I am looking at my receipt from GPS Discount right now and I was slightly in error! :) It turns out that I also bought the bean bag dashboard mount (which I don't really use that much in the G35, but works great in the 4Runner) and that was $26 and part of the $985 total.

Apparently GPSDiscount has been around for quite a long time and the Garmin Streetpilots are only a small part of their business, they do Marine and Avionic GPS systems as well. I saw their name as the best source for the SP III's numerous places in my usenet searches on the net, and my experience with them was outstandingly good! I ordered the unit and got it in 2 days (well, technically 3, but that is only because I wasn't home to sign for the delivery on the day it arrived and they came back the next day *smile*)

But by all means, go to Fry's and have a look at the unit and play with it in the store for a while, to see if it is what you need... For me, it is an amazing tool, and all the more amazing because even though it fits in the "toy" category according to my wife, she thinks its great too! LoL!

    Have a great day!

    I have heard that thru a slight hardware mod you can get the DVD nav systems to play DVD movies, but I thought I should warn you though;

I have several friends in law enforcement, and they specifically scan for wether or not that glow from your dashboard is a NAV system, or if it is flickering like a movie is playing while you're driving. (more noticeable at night)

If it is the latter, and you are alone in the car, they will hit you with the stiffest infraction possible short of reckless driving, a little less if you have a passenger in the front, and of course the rearward facing entertainment systems (The driver can't see it) are immune to this.

One CHP officer told me that one driver who was watching a DVD movie (from a portable player) while she was driving at night, was so distracted by it that she didn't even notice that his motorcycle was right next to her on the freeway, and he said He saw that the woman was watching "Sleepless in Seattle" as she was driving... Crazy stuff...

Just offering this as a friendly reminder :)

Stay safe and keep your attentions on the amazing handling capabilities of the G35! Its a better rush than any movie! LoL!

Good point about law enforcement. And, even if you can get away with it, why would you want to? I can't think of many situations where I'd want to be able to play DVD's in the front. Even if you're not watching, it's bound to be distracting.

I'm amazed at the stuff I see people doing while driving. Dialing a cell phone is bad enough (I have to admit to having done this occasionally before I got a voice-activated phone), but I've seen people shaving, doing their hair, and reading a newspaper.

Got my G35 last week and just LOVE IT! I have only one beef though. The power seat controls on the driver seat have to go. When I took the demo for a test drive I didn't notice how uncomfortable the seats are with that control there. The control mounting is just stiff enough that there is no give and it starts to feel uncomfortable against my right leg. On a long drive my leg starts to get real sore. Otherwise the seats are wonderful.

Has anybody attempting doing anyting with the controls by moving them or lowering them somehow? If I have to drive this car on many more long trips like this the car will have to go. :-((

    Thanks,
    Kelly

Keys - Just a caution to those of you with that heavy Infiniti key chain or any heavy key chain - over time, heavy key chains will damage the ignition switch as they jiggle and bounce around. It's a good idea to limit what's attached to your car keys.

Seat Controls - I am not a small person and haven't noticed any problem with the seat controls. If you are large enough that the seat controls make you uncomfortable, it would seem that you would have a problem on the left side also since all seats have firm outside bolsters. Any chance you're just sitting off-center without thinking about it?

Can the G35 do burnouts? Can the traction control be turned off? I test drove one, but saleslady was with me. Anyone buy one from Infiniti of Orland Park, Illinois?
  • jerry3840jerry3840 Member Posts: 7
In response to kbolin, I must agree with regards to the seat controls issue.

First things first, the G35 is an awesome vehicle in every respect. Clearly, it has rocked the premier sport sedan automotive world.

Two weeks ago, I visited a dealer in the Atlanta area fully prepared to buy, but did not, for one reason. I found the drivers seat to be extremely uncomfortable with the seat controls situated on the right, pushing the stiff bolster into the thigh. I tried various configurations and was only able to make it marginally better. I am not that large (5'8 160 lbs.), so I could not attribute the problem to that. I had seen this issue referenced in the Detroit News review, but am surprised it has not brought up more often. Motor Trend (or C&D) referenced it only with respect to its susceptibility to drink spills. Unfortunately, I am going to hold off to see if the seat controls will be placed in a more standard position for 2004. It will be tough to wait, as I drool over every G I am seeing in traffic, but I just could not justify buying one now, due to that seat.

When using the windshield wipers in a drizzling rain an annoying swooshing sound would be generated at both ends of the windshield swipe. Have others experienced the noise?
  • riezriez Member Posts: 2,361
acer34t... Burnouts? Hope you aren't considering glass packs for your exhaust.

From all the press reviews I've read, thought there is an "on/off" switch for the traction control; however, even when "off" the TC is still "on", though in a much reduced setting (i.e., takes a lot more spinning before it kicks in). Never completely goes "off". Have no idea if that allows you to do burnouts. Guessin' it will be hard. You might really have to get the revs up with foot on brake and see if you can fool it long enough to get some smoke. Just know tires are expensive and I couldn't imagine wanting to use them up to produce smoke and tire particles.

My wife had the same problem with a portion of her body overlapping the the driver seat controls. In fact she had to lift one cheek to adjust the seat. It looks kinda odd when does this. I'm not sure if I should open the windows or not when she lifts the cheek. Anyway, I suggested she try dieting and now she's so mad at me that she won't drive the car. Oh well, her loss!

6 feet, 210 lbs and have no trouble with the seat controls. Love the driver's seat. 1357 miles on my G and have yet to see another one on the road. Still love shinning it up, showing it off, and showing up others.

There was a question over in fresh alloy about whether the speed of the wipers is affected by the speed of the car. Persons with the premium models that replied said yes that the speed of the wipers increased with the speed of the car. Then there was the question of whether or not this was for non-premium models. I tested mine today in the rain and yes my non-premium has this feature as well. I had the wiper delay on a higher that medium delay period which while stopped was in excess of 12 seconds. Then while moving and depending on speed the wiper delay got down to 5 seconds.

I will be picking my new G35 on Thursday night. Drove it Saturday afternoon. As to the controls on he seat I'm 6'00, 230 LBS didn't have any problems with controls on the seats. Mine will be Silver, Premium, wood,Xenon, sun roof. Buying at Orland Park Infiniti, in Illinois. Trading my 96 Toyota Avalon. Acer34t, if you want to ask any questions I see you also visited that same dealer. Anyway can't wait, have seen three on the street since I bought.....

I test drove the g35 and the 330 back to back for the first time a couple days ago and i must admit that i was very impressed with the g35 and i'm pretty sure that's what i'm going to get. the g35 just felt faster and roomier, and even better handling to me (maybe this is because it is lighter). The 200 watt stereo sounded better than the 330's also, although neither sounds as good as lexus systems from my own experience. I didn't understand the hoopla about the g35 interior quality not being as good as the 3 series, because I thought that the buttons on the g35 felt slightly better than the buttons on the 330, and leather seating in the g35 much better than the leather on the 330. The plastic around the buttons on the center dash did feel better on the 330, but since I would rarely touch this area, but would always touch the leather seats and the buttons, I like the overall interior quality of the g35 over the 330. I also liked the bolder styling of the g35, even the rear, over the conservative and aging styling of the 330. All of this is subjective of course. One gripe I had, even though it's pretty minor, is that infiniti didn't change the center dash layout from the right seat drive skyline that they sell in Japan. Hence, the temp control and vol control is located furthest away from the driver. I know the vol control is still on the driving wheel, but since they are marketing this car as a "driver's car", I am surprised that they neglected to reverse the layout of the dash. p.s. just a question, do you guys all get wheel locks for your cars? is this a worthwhile accessory?

I also found them uncomfortable when my wife first got her car. However, I can tell you, with assurance, that you will numb up after awhile and not even notice it. Until then, it can feel fairly uncomfortable, especially during long drives.

We have almost 6000 miles on the car (picked it up beginning of April) and still enjoy it as much as ever. Just don't drive it as hard as we'd like because it takes SO much to make it feel like you are pushing the car! :)

I am getting what I consider to be excessive glare from the top of my dashboard onto my windshield. This occurs in all types of weather.

    Any solutions?
  • kbolinkbolin Member Posts: 6
I'm 5'8" and 190lbs and find the seat control makes the right bolster a little too firm. Hopefully given enough time it will soften up (the bolster not my butt) on the right side and everything will be ok.

    Otherwise... LOVE THE CAR!
  • acer34tacer34t Member Posts: 7
I test drove one, and I am 6'3" 240lbs. I did not notice the seat problem, but i did feel the door sill on my left side. I don't know if this will get annoying after a while. Other than that, it felt roomier than the Acura TL, Toyota Avalon or several suvs. I even had the saleslady get in the back seat while I was in the drivers seat.

I know they recommend premium fuel, but will it tolerate regular?
  • blueguydotcomblueguydotcom Member Posts: 6,249
Use regular, the engine has less power. It's your call. The engine's computer will adjust to the lesser fuel but your power will decrease.

Personally, this makes no sense to me. If you blow 33k on a car, what's an extra $.20 a gallon or 3 dollars every fillup? That's a measely $156 over a year.
  • pfschimpfschim Member Posts: 29
Had to respond to this one. Have 1500mi on my G35, picked it up in April. I am 6'1" and 200lbs, no problems at all with the seats or controls. In fact, I like the control placement, seems very natural to me after 90 days. Maybe those who are having the issues have really huge thighs, (no offense meant here) like cyclers leg (my brother has this).

    On Sightings:
Here in N. Cal/East Bay area, I had not seen another G other than on a billboard, but have started to see a few in the past week. On the way to the hills on Sat, saw a silver one, we both saw each other at about the same time and exchanged waves. I saw a green one (a color I immediately rejected at the dealer) on Hwy 84 on Sun, color looked better to me in real time than on the lot.

    Anyway, my 2 cents.

    Happy Driving

Not sure if this is specific to my dealer or being picked up by other Infiniti dealers, but they have a "revolutionary" new window tinting process available which is supposed to be much better in terms of reducing heat and sun damage compared to regular window tinting. This is not an Infiniti product, but it is applied by the dealer. Cost is steep--$1000. Does anyone know anything about this? Any experiences? I have a fully loaded premium, aero, sport, nav on order for delivery in late July/early August (yes, I actually waited 2 months!). There won't be any room to move on MSRP but I can likely swing a deal for the tinting if it's a valuable option.

Wow. Your post was really a breath of fresh air. It's nice to hear from a salesperson who is at least as informed as the average consumer, if not more so. Thank you.
  • stanny1stanny1 Member Posts: 962
The rumor is that the G Coupe will have a limited slip differential. I need LSD for Solo 2. There is a possibility that the 350Z will have LSD and the rear ends should be the same, so a transplant after purchase should be possible, even into a G35 sedan.
Have you heard anything about an LSD option for either of the G's? Thanks.
  • joeandcarol2joeandcarol2 Member Posts: 152
Its not a rumor for the 350Z. Many models will have an LSD. This information is available to all at nissandriven.com if you care to look.
  • mgh_1mgh_1 Member Posts: 22
    Pat,

I assume the salesperson's post was deleted seeing that I don't see it anymore. I assume that was against the rules in some way.

I would, however, like to see it again seeing that I am at work and wasn't able get any info when it was first up. I personally like hearing from an apparently knowledgeable salesperson for a change. So how can I see the post without disturbing the rules?

    Thanks.

The infiniti website, under future models, G35 Sports Coupe, Specifications, says that a LSD will be available (read optional).

The post violated our no solicitation terms of use, but if the original poster would like to contribute to the forums, he's welcome to post in here without soliciting. Hopefully, he'll choose to do so, as there's some good info to be gained from a knowledgeable salesperson.

We can't allow the re-post to stay up either, sorry. It has to be the original poster's decision to re-post without solicitation. Edmunds.com doesn't edit posts that are in violation of the member agreement. Hopefully, he'll return to re-post helpful information.

    Kristie,

    Thanks for your response.

I guess I actually did find the post helpful regardless of the solicitation, though I understand that is the whole point of the violation of the rules part.

As far as the solicitation itself, it just seems that many of us (or at least me) are looking for info and good deals whenever we can find them. In view of that, I assume you all still have access to the deleted post. Could I at least get you to send the post to an email account? Or at least the poster's info?

I understand the rules, but I'm also here because I'm interested in buying the car. If I wasn't, I wouldn't be in this particular forum in the first place. If someone can make that process easier or can at least give me info and to what to expect, I'd like the chance to at least hear what they have to say. (Not trying to be difficult. Just being honest.)

*I* haven't heard about any "revolutionary" new thing in window tinting, but I haven't looked at this for quite some time (a few years). However, I do try to keep my ear to the ground, so to speak, and would be interested in some information about exactly what was so "revolutionary" about it. In the past, I have heard that some window tinting uses metal in the tint and while that does effectively reduce heat and UV fading, it causes havoc with cell phones (shouldn't affect the radio).

Please DO post some details, if you can get any...

"When using the windshield wipers in a drizzling rain an annoying swooshing sound would be generated at both ends of the windshield swipe. Have others experienced the noise?"

Though I do not have a G35, I do have a 2001 I30. I found the wipers to be inadequate from the factory. Within a few months they began to streak badly and were very chattery at high-speed. This may be a problem with all Infinitis. This was extremely annoying and distracting to me. My solution was to replace the stock wipers with all-new wipers (not just the blades) from Bosch. I use the "MICRO-EDGE EXCEL" which are the best wipers I can find. They were like $11 each at my local auto parts store, but very well worth it. You will need to confirm that you can find the correct size for passenger and driver side. (they *are* different, most likely) The new wipers make almost no noise and the wipe is much cleaner with less water left behind. The new blade has a different design which helps keep it planted to the windshield at highway speeds, preventing the chatter effect. It helps alot if you periodically clean the wipers with soap and water when you wash your car. (run a wet soapy sponge along the blade to remove the black residue and filth that accumulates) Do this periodically and the Bosch's perform fantastically. Also avoid using the wipers in dry conditions unless you squirt plenty of washer fluid on them to wash away dirt so as to avoid abrading the wiping blades.

Wow...never thought I would write so much on wipers but some these are some tips I have developed to help keep the wipers useful and non-distracting.

My 740IL lease ends next month and I had been planing on getting a new Q45. I previously had a Q from '95 to '99 which I traded for the Bimmer. We are also now on our second QX4 and long ago I had a M30 so you know we are confirmed Infinity folks. I now plan to order a G35 instead. The price differential is just too much for the extra toys you get with the Q45. I have seen the VPP program mentioned several times in this forum. Can someone tell me what VPP is?

What may be billed as "new and improved" in the north country is very likely the same stuff they sell down here for ~$250 or less, even on high-end cars.

Believe me, if it isn't good, it'll fail really quickly here in the hellhole (Phoenix). We have stuff with lifetime warranties. Much of it has "titanium" or whatever in it, and that part, at least, is real. My garage door opener (hand-held -- I'm still in the stone age) won't work until I crack the window.

Either way, the tint is probably very good, but the price. . .is not.

I had my G35 in for its first oil service and I received an I30 as a courtesy car. I think I've been spoiled by the G35 because there was no comparison between the two. The I30 would float around (comparatively speaking of course) and it seemed very front heavy.

I did like the way the climate control system worked; it was an indirect sort of cooling. I find the G35 AC to be too cold at first. It ends up freezing my head (I’ll get over it though)

I was very anxious to get to the dealer to get my car back.
