Urgent!! I just picked up my new car last night!

I just picked up my new Ruby Metalic Olds Intrigue late yesterday. The detailer had not finished with it when we got there but we waited and I thought we had done a pretty through "walk around". I drove it straight home and into the garage. When I went out this morning in the bright sunshine I could see 5 tiny chips or gouges in the paint all along the passenger side. They aren't much bigger that a capital O but they go all the way through the paint. I called the dealership and the salesman told me not to worry that they would have their paint man fix them. I offered to take the car straight back this AM but he says his guy won't be there til Friday. I am going to leave the car in my garage til then. Two of the three responses that I got on the smartshopper board said that touching-up this type of paint flaw NEVER should be done. Does this sound like defective paint? Have others had trouble with this color? The dealer said no. Can this be touched-up and look right? I already took a big hit on the depreciation when I bought the car and I can't afford to let them do a repair that will just depreciate it still more. I need some expert advice quick!!!! Please help if you can! Thanks

The car suffered slight hail damage repaired by paintless dent removal. I caught a small pin sized dimple on the roof at delivery and a hair sized scratch (probably from tape pulls) on the hood. The dealer gave me a free car for the week and voluntarily completely painted both panels. These defects were small. He said I wouldn't have been satisfied with any kind of touch up (midnight grey clearcoat).

more than likely they will have to repaint the whole door panel.

My truck was 2 wks old when i got a dent/scratch to the bare metal. They had to repaint the whole pass side bed of the truck because if they just did that one spot it wouldnt blend and it would stand out. I must say after a yr and a half you cannot tell where the damage was.

Also about a month ago the side of my truck got hit by a flying rock from a mower. two small chips like you describe. I put some touchup paint on them they stand out but luckily they are low on the door.

You may have them touch up then wet sand it down.

I appreciate your perspective although you seem completely oblivious to mine. You are quite right it is not the WTC that I am dealing with here. And I sincerely thank everyone who kindly gave me the benefit of your experiences and knowledge.

when i had it repainted (2wks after i bought it) insurance paid for it. To this day i still dont know who or what hit it.

I had to pay the deductible ($250) total bill was like $800.
