Are you kidding me? Lapis Blue and Steel Gray are the ONLY colors I wanted when I bought my 6! I also know that Steel Gray is one of the most popular colors they made, and the color I bought (hence, GreyGhost!)
What is Mazda thinking? Are they really trying to "dull up" the 6 to be more popular with the Accamry drivers? AARRGGHH!
Audia8q, do you have pictures of the new "Tungsten Gray" or the "Bright Island Blue"? Let's hope that the Gray is close to the Steel Gray. I'm also hoping that the "Bright Island Blue" is just as dark as the Lapis Blue, and not as bright and vomit-inducing as the Altima's blue!
That was the 1st color that really caught my eye.

This is directly out of the 2006 Mazda dealer spec deck...but I must say that the orderbank still shows lapis as an orderable color for 2006...so I don't know what mazda is planning. maybe it will be a one or two allocation run color.....am I the only one who likes saying "Tungsten" ??? :P
So they went back to the 2003-2004 gearing on the manuals? Those were the mileage figures for the 2003-2004 manual transmissions. Or are you talking about the automatic?
24/31 auto trans
Vista Blue is a lighter blue from what I understand. Maybe it and Bright Island Blue are one in the same? You can see Vista here but it's not all that clear unfortunately.

:confuse:
I don't know if you can change it or not, but I do know that it is a safety feature!!!
I have an aunt who was mugged several years ago in a store parking lot because her Cadillac's remote unlocked all of the doors. This allowed the mugger to get in her car on the passenger side. If only the drivers door had unlocked, she may have been able to get inside and re-lock the doors before the mugger could come around to the drivers side.

I recently tested a 5 door, and told the salesguy (to his dismay) that I neede a few months to get more of a down payment. Sure glad I waited now.
Oh yeah there was one Maserati that blew by me like I was parked,
I set it at 95MPH on cruise and it was a fine ride. Good job Mazda!
The car is a 4 cylinder

Yumm. Any details about the hp etc?
thanks in advance!
I have the 4 cyl too, but I do my own oil changes. Anyway, the cartridge oil filter itself does not cost $20 more than a spin on oil filter. If anything, it should be cheaper, because there is less material used for a catridge filter. The cartridge filter is basically just the innards of a metal spin-on filter. If you cut open a spin-on filter, you're left with the paper filter element, which is what the cartridge filter is.
The extra $20 charge must be labor, because as far as oil changes are concerned, it is kind of a pain in the butt to do. Regardless, $50 for an oil change is absolutely ridiculous, cartridge filter or not. If you have any mechanical ability whatsoever, I'd do it yourself. You could do it with sythentic oil yourself for less than $50.
The answer is: 6.5 inches
Let me see if I can get a pic.
I know that this has been talked about here before, but does anybody have any idea of why Consumer Reports dislikes the 6? I test drove an '04 and loved it.
I am not in a big hurry for a car since the car that I will be getting rid of is a '90 626 which is getting 28 - 30 mpg in-town with the A/C running. I do not have to be sold on Mazda since I have had them since 1980 and I currently have 3 of them.
Any comments pro or con about the 6 will be a help.
I was considereing an Avalon but after seeing some of the problems that those people are haveing, and since I don't really trust Toyota, I think that I will go back to that which I have had, in general, good success with.
The Mazda 6, as a whole, is a great car, but it has it's problems like everyone else does. As much as Honda and Toyota supposedly "dominate" the quality surveys, their cars STILL have problems like everyone else.
ALL cars makers have a lemon or two, or have an issue that affects certain cars. It's as inevitable as death and taxes. NO car is bulletproof, and anyone else that says otherwise doesn't know better. As far as I'm concerned, Mazda may not be the best in quality, but it's up there. I've got 15K miles on my 6, and have owned for a year, with NO problems, just the regular oil changes and tire rotations. a Co-worker has owned an '04 Accord for a year as well, with 13K miles, and has had the car in for service 6 times! 3 of those for a re-occuring issue!
In short, a 6 is just as good (or better) than anything else out there in it's class. What sells you to a 6 is the driving experience! The handling, comfort, and overall performance of this car embarrases all other family sedans in this class. It may not be the biggest, fastest, sexiest car in this class, but it does EVERYTHING well enough to convince me a year ago to buy one. Knowing what I know now, I'd STILL march into a dealer today and buy another one.
The choice is yours, but you won't make a bad one going for the 6... :shades:
