The new head restraints are positioned so far forward that just driving causes extreme neck and upper back pain. Which is worse being in pain all of the time or whiplash if you get in an accident?
glthront is absolutely correct. I purchased a 2009 Toyota Matrix. Neck pain was unbearable. After 6 months swapped it with a Toyota Camry, lost around $2000 because of the swap. Same situation. I cannot drive the car for more that 20 minutes. The only way I can drive this car is to towel to support the neck and the upper back. I am desperately looking for some solution. Have tried may pillows etc. Hope car seat manufacturers can come up with solution or redesign and help out existing and future customers.
This is all due to regulators to whom apparently it is more important to prevent possible harm in a possible accident than to allow us to not have actual harm in our day to day lives. The solution is to turn around the head restraints, get some kind of back support that pushes you away from the seat, or buy a car old enough that it's not been screwed up by Washington.
Yep. I reverse the headrests first thing when I get in a rental car. I understand the need for them but whoever designs them needs to study human anatomy a little more closely instead of computer models or dummies that cannot protest.
