prepared a "Chevrolet Vehicle Summary" for me for a
2000 Chevrolet Silverado. The "Vehicle Summary"
includes the Invoice price for the truck, options
and destination charge.
Although the "Summary" listed the "4th door" option as NC (no charge), she added approximately $300 for the "4th door". She said the option is so new that it was not accounted for in the base price.
I used the pricing feature at carwizard.com and they listed the "4th door" option as NC and did not charge for this option.
Note: The Fleet Manager and carwizard.com both started with the same exact base price.
Any ideas?
When building a vehicle in Chevrolets Computer system the 4th door does show as an option at no charge. However, if you select that option the computer adjust the base price by the $300, because of the model change. That's why your base prices matched. You were being charged twice.

Thanks for your response. You are correct, the charge for the 4th door is built into the base price. She did mention that she wasn't sure.
I have another question if you don't mind.
On the Chevrolet "Vehicle Summary" there is an "Adjustments" charge of $166.35. Do you know what it is for? Just curious.
Thanks again.
Glad that I could help. The adjustment is the regional advertising fee. It's totally legitimate and is added to the dealer's invoice cost by Chevrolet. I turned down an order today because the customer did not want to pay the advertising fee. When you are selling at or near invoice, that fee is a big deal. If you are trying to place an order and you are having trouble reaching the right price, drop me a line.
I can have your truck delivered anywhere in the continental USA with no additional cost.

One again, thanks.
So far the Fleet Manager has been very helpful and she has been extremeley fair and up front.
She provided me with the "Vehicle Summary" and told me I would pay invoice + adjustments($166) + destination($665) + $500. Seems very fair.
We were done in under an hour.
Thanks for the offer.
I have a 00' Silverado LT X/C 4-dr. on order. I selected seven options for my truck. The FW1 Ride Control was cancelled due to it being on hold. GM Canada was not sure when it would be available.
These are the options that are now on my order.
1)5300 V8 (LM7)
2)Locking Rear Diff. w/ 3.73 (G80)
3)Off Road Pkg. (Z71)
4)Fourth Door (E24)
5)P265 WOL Tires (QGD)
6)Trailer Equip. Pkg. (Z82)
I hope find out the status of my order by end of November. AFS
build dates of 01/03/00 for start production and
02/??/00 for fleet orders, GREG what info do
you have ?
We will see........
Chevrolet, they said wait about 4 weeks and call the MFG. and they should have my build date. I would expect delivery around the beginning of Feb.
I now want to change the color of the vehicle from Indigo blue to two tone Indigo Blue/Pewter
with the Flairs, would this be a big deal at this point? I am calling today to find out! I will keep everyone posted on the status through the waiting and building period.
Good Luck
Thanks for any info you can provide.

I've spent more time than I can count researching options, prices and dealerships.
Until I saw post #110, I had never read one book, internet post, or magazine article that called the regional sales charge a "legitimate' invoice item.
My advice to prospective buyers is to view with extreme skepticism ANYTHING a salesman says.

I placed my order on 10/1 for the LT 4-door.
This is taking FOREVER!

I talked to the dealer again today. Here is the latest as of this afternoon. The new truck sales manager told me about a memo he had recently receiver from the factory. It seems that, in order to keep productions up, 4 dr orders will be built as 3 drs. But not without notifying the dealer that ordered it. So, if your truck arrives with only 3 doors and you didn't know about it, the dealer dropped the ball. Now, for when the 4drs will be built. The first ones to be built will be 1/2 ton short beds. Next will be 1/2 ton long beds. After that, 3/4 ton shorts, and last, but not least, will be 3/4 ton longs. I have been noticing that in the threads I read here about guys receiving their truck, MOST are half ton shorts. This is the most popular type of truck and therefore the most built. I ask the guy for a copy of the memo but he couldn't find it. (surprise, surprise) It looks like I would have to wait till next summer to get a 4 dr 3/4 ton 4X4 so, I'm back to a 3 dr.
I hope this will help some of you. Put as much or as little stock in it as you wish.
Al
I figure about 2 to 3 months from now I'll get mine. The dealer says 6 to 8 weeks, but I'm sure there will be more delays for one reason or another. And if it does get here within 6-8, Great!
Are your trucks that are mentioned in the two messages above 1/2 tons or 3/4 tons? That might help us know if my guy was full of beans or not. (message #130)
Thanks,
Al
I feel your pain.
Just hold in there.
It'll be worth the wait in the end.
Thanks for the sympathy. I need all I can get. Now, if Doug's truck is a 1500, then we may be on to something here. At least we have a starting point for the 4 door rigs.
Thanks for the info,
Al
Good deal, Doug. Looks like at least some of you will be getting 4 doors on your E/C. I'm proud for ya. I guess my guy was right. The 2500 longs will be the last ones to get them.
"Ohhh baby we will be ridin' a stylin"
OK, at least post a photo for us.
Al
Has anybody heard anything about their truck order yet? I'm almost ready to snap. So much for my X-mas gift to myself.
What are going to be some of the accessories that you will buy for your Silverado?
Thanks, AFS

Targeted Production Week - This is the best I know how to explain it. I refer to it as Build Date.

Thank you for giving me the #number in post #140. After reading that many of people have build dates for their orders, I phoned GM back & asked why I was told the other day GM has no idea when???
It looks like I spoke to the wrong people at GM. The representative that I spoke to today, told me that my order will be built within 7 to 10 days! I was told to contact GM next week for an update.
I sure hope that this information is true. I really appreciate everybody forwarding their truck information. According to the representative, my truck is to be built at the Indiana Truck Plant. It's been modified first for the fourth door.
Thanks again,
AFS
build date for a 4 door, excab, 4X4 in the Los Angeles area. Does the dealer have to try to order? ANY info would help. THANKS
Haven't forgot about you. Just wondering if you have heard anything new from your GMC dealer in Memphis. I keep getting the run around from my dealer. I believe I actually know more than they do, Which isn't much. Still no order # or build date..Going on 11 weeks.
