The Fleet Manager at a local Chevrolet dealership
prepared a "Chevrolet Vehicle Summary" for me for a
2000 Chevrolet Silverado. The "Vehicle Summary"
includes the Invoice price for the truck, options
    and destination charge.

Although the "Summary" listed the "4th door" option as NC (no charge), she added approximately $300 for the "4th door". She said the option is so new that it was not accounted for in the base price.

I used the pricing feature at carwizard.com and they listed the "4th door" option as NC and did not charge for this option.

Note: The Fleet Manager and carwizard.com both started with the same exact base price.

    Any ideas?

Interesting, my dealer told me that the truck is now cast in stone and that I can't change a thing. I have been given a copy of the Vehicle Order Detail and it shows an accepted order # but no build date.

    George,

When building a vehicle in Chevrolets Computer system the 4th door does show as an option at no charge. However, if you select that option the computer adjust the base price by the $300, because of the model change. That's why your base prices matched. You were being charged twice.

Had a message on my answering machine from my Chevy Dealer. When I returned his call he said "I thought I had some good news for you but its went sour". It seems they got allocations today for 4 door 3/4 tons. But within 15 minutes they got a call that that was an error and those 3/4 tons would be 3 doors. ALSO all 1/2 ton 4 door orders are being changed to 3 doors. I asked if customers would be notified. I said your going to have a bunch of pissed off folks if they show up to get their 4 door and see its a 3 door. He agreed. ...... Rich

    Greg,

Thanks for your response. You are correct, the charge for the 4th door is built into the base price. She did mention that she wasn't sure.

I have another question if you don't mind.

On the Chevrolet "Vehicle Summary" there is an "Adjustments" charge of $166.35. Do you know what it is for? Just curious.

    Thanks again.
  • ltgregltgreg Member Posts: 10
    George,

Glad that I could help. The adjustment is the regional advertising fee. It's totally legitimate and is added to the dealer's invoice cost by Chevrolet. I turned down an order today because the customer did not want to pay the advertising fee. When you are selling at or near invoice, that fee is a big deal. If you are trying to place an order and you are having trouble reaching the right price, drop me a line.
I can have your truck delivered anywhere in the continental USA with no additional cost.

    Greg,

    One again, thanks.

So far the Fleet Manager has been very helpful and she has been extremeley fair and up front.

She provided me with the "Vehicle Summary" and told me I would pay invoice + adjustments($166) + destination($665) + $500. Seems very fair.

We were done in under an hour.

    Thanks for the offer.

    Al,

I have a 00' Silverado LT X/C 4-dr. on order. I selected seven options for my truck. The FW1 Ride Control was cancelled due to it being on hold. GM Canada was not sure when it would be available.

These are the options that are now on my order.
    1)5300 V8 (LM7)
    2)Locking Rear Diff. w/ 3.73 (G80)
    3)Off Road Pkg. (Z71)
    4)Fourth Door (E24)
    5)P265 WOL Tires (QGD)
    6)Trailer Equip. Pkg. (Z82)

I hope find out the status of my order by end of November. AFS

On pickuptruck.com web home page it states
build dates of 01/03/00 for start production and
02/??/00 for fleet orders, GREG what info do
    you have ?

My salesperson called yesterday to tell me that the factory took my order. He also said that I should have a build date by Wednesday. He said that they are going to have some 4th door truck built on Monday after Thanksgiving.

    We will see........

My order for a Z71 4 door was just accepted by
Chevrolet, they said wait about 4 weeks and call the MFG. and they should have my build date. I would expect delivery around the beginning of Feb.
I now want to change the color of the vehicle from Indigo blue to two tone Indigo Blue/Pewter
with the Flairs, would this be a big deal at this point? I am calling today to find out! I will keep everyone posted on the status through the waiting and building period.

    Good Luck

I have a 00' Silverado 4WD X/C (4-dr) on order. I changed my order, no problem. I was told you can change your options, up to the time that you are given a build date. Once you have a build date your order can't be altered. GM puts your options in the computer for building & once in the system that is it.

I have ordered a Z71 extended cab with 4th door, and have heard so many differing opinions on when they will be built etc. I ordered it about 8 weeks ago and have called the dealer a few times He knows nothing, I have heard that it could be as late as March, which is a long time to wait, I have the money and it is burning a hole in my pocket.
  • alwysl8alwysl8 Member Posts: 59
I spoke with someone from Chevy today and the story I got was that the third party vendor has not been able to deliver the 4th door and its hinges. The rep. also told me that to the best of his knowledge no one has received a build date yet. He also said that there is a constraint on both the G80 locking differential and the Z82 trailering package. Might as well get a short term CD and let your money earn some interest while you wait.

If I'm understanding things right, if a person was to order a 3 door Silverado, or Sierra, it would not be a problem, and one could expect a reasonable delivery time? I personally could care less about a 4th door, I'd just like to have a vehicle in a reasonable timeframe. Also, does anyone out their know what a GM supplier discount is, and approximately how much one would save using this discount plan? Could a vehicle be bought at less than dealer invoice?
Thanks for any info you can provide.

I started thinking about the new Sierra about two years ago, before the first production model was delivered. I finally ordered one in August and have a TPD of 29 Nov.

I've spent more time than I can count researching options, prices and dealerships.

Until I saw post #110, I had never read one book, internet post, or magazine article that called the regional sales charge a "legitimate' invoice item.

My advice to prospective buyers is to view with extreme skepticism ANYTHING a salesman says.

My local East Tennessee dealer has 3 4dr trucks allocated. I have one ordered (K-1500, LT, Z-71, trailering pkg, locking diff, in black). I got to see the computer on Nov. 18. It had a build date scheduled of 11-16, but it was placed on hold with a new build date to be scheduled. My source has been gone for the holidays, but will be back Tuesday. I will get an update and post it here.

I ordered a 2000 GMC Sierra SLT 4dr, 2wd on 10/9/99 and was told that I just missed getting an allocation as they had already used theirs. Anyway a couple of days ago GM kicked the orders out of the system for some reason and my dealer reordered all the customer orders instead of getting dealer stock. I call GM with my order number and they confirmed the order but said no build date was available as of yet. 4 doors are on the way!!

I am so tired of waiting for these new trucks to come in , man was chevy slow getting out of the chute or what.every time I get on these sites it seems to get later and later for these new trcuks to hit the dealerships, I have one on order but now wonder if I have done the right thing, problem is I sold my old truck already and we are down to one vehicle, which you know that is not easy. I may be forced to buy something else, or settle for a 3rd door
  • werkingwerking Member Posts: 431
don't do it!!! drop the chalupa, i mean, drop the 3 door man...drop the 3 door.

I placed my order on 10/1 for the LT 4-door.
    This is taking FOREVER!
  • werkingwerking Member Posts: 431
you got your order number? have you checked with your dealer to verify they haven't changed it to a 3 door? if that's the case, there's hope for all of us yet...indeed, that warrants a woohoo!

    Hello boys (and girls)

I talked to the dealer again today. Here is the latest as of this afternoon. The new truck sales manager told me about a memo he had recently receiver from the factory. It seems that, in order to keep productions up, 4 dr orders will be built as 3 drs. But not without notifying the dealer that ordered it. So, if your truck arrives with only 3 doors and you didn't know about it, the dealer dropped the ball. Now, for when the 4drs will be built. The first ones to be built will be 1/2 ton short beds. Next will be 1/2 ton long beds. After that, 3/4 ton shorts, and last, but not least, will be 3/4 ton longs. I have been noticing that in the threads I read here about guys receiving their truck, MOST are half ton shorts. This is the most popular type of truck and therefore the most built. I ask the guy for a copy of the memo but he couldn't find it. (surprise, surprise) It looks like I would have to wait till next summer to get a 4 dr 3/4 ton 4X4 so, I'm back to a 3 dr.

I hope this will help some of you. Put as much or as little stock in it as you wish.

    Al
  • doudisdoudis Member Posts: 45
I have a copy of my order and it does show 4dr. I sure hope the dealer does not try to sell me a 3dr cause I'll walk. I'm not waiting all this time for something I could have got months ago.
  • ww00650ww00650 Member Posts: 47
I just heard back from my Dealer. MY order is still a 4 door. He did say that his NON-customer ordered 4-doors were being changed to 3 door models. So, it's still WOOO HOOO!

I figure about 2 to 3 months from now I'll get mine. The dealer says 6 to 8 weeks, but I'm sure there will be more delays for one reason or another. And if it does get here within 6-8, Great!
  • acastlemanacastleman Member Posts: 23
    Doug and Mike

Are your trucks that are mentioned in the two messages above 1/2 tons or 3/4 tons? That might help us know if my guy was full of beans or not. (message #130)

    Thanks,

    Al
  • ww00650ww00650 Member Posts: 47
Yep. Its the 1500, LT, 4-dr x-cab, ShortBed, 4x4 version. It's one of the more popular versions, according to you, Al. I'm guessing you're opting for the 2500 looong bed. The one that seems like it is on eternal hold.

    I feel your pain.

    Just hold in there.

It'll be worth the wait in the end.
  • acastlemanacastleman Member Posts: 23
    Mike

Thanks for the sympathy. I need all I can get. Now, if Doug's truck is a 1500, then we may be on to something here. At least we have a starting point for the 4 door rigs.

    Thanks for the info,

    Al
  • doudisdoudis Member Posts: 45
Yes sir, it's a 1500 for me. The reason I have an allocation is GM kicked back all of my dealers 4dr allocations. So what he did was reorder all his customer orders first before he ordered his dealer stock. I do not know how many allocations he had, but he is the fleet managers boss for the largest GMC dealer in Arizona. He seems like a straight shooter. We will get them it is just a matter of time. Ohhh baby we will be ridin' a stylin.
  • acastlemanacastleman Member Posts: 23
    "Yes sir, it's a 1500 for me"
Good deal, Doug. Looks like at least some of you will be getting 4 doors on your E/C. I'm proud for ya. I guess my guy was right. The 2500 longs will be the last ones to get them.

"Ohhh baby we will be ridin' a stylin"
OK, at least post a photo for us.

  • doudisdoudis Member Posts: 45
You betcha. I'll post just for you. If it is any help your 2500 will outclass our 1500's by some degree. I'd get one myself if I needed it. Oh well at least we're kindred spirits. As for a long bed, it would be nice but there are two problems for me. Will not fit in the grage and I'll be damned if my second biggest purchase is going to sit in front of my first biggest if it can be cozy inside. Second problem I gotta have that Sportside. Goin from aT-Bird to a Sierra, gotta have some flash!!! Yeah Baby!!!

I'm so tried of waiting for my truck! I need to hear some good news from someone.

Has anybody heard anything about their truck order yet? I'm almost ready to snap. So much for my X-mas gift to myself.

What are going to be some of the accessories that you will buy for your Silverado?

    Thanks, AFS

Went to my dealer today and learned from the GM computer that my 4dr Silverado Z-71 has been assigned a Jan. 17, 2000 build date. Will this hold, or be moved up again? I'm afraid to guess. He says if he is given the okay to order several more 4drs tomorrow, the build date is probably accurate. I will find out and post again tomorrow.

AFS, accessory posts really belong in topic 96, but, I'll be getting a Bed-Rug from www.calconcepts.com about $350 I think, a cap (leer or snugtop - I think - I still need to look at a few more) I'm guessing between $1200 and $1500, and some Putco stuff. I like their grill guard (about $750) and love their Pipeline running boards (another $750 approx) and mudflaps $???. All Very Expensive, but Very Nice! On a Black truck, it will look Sweet! Check them out @ www.putco.com . A bug deflector, and finally, the newer vent-visor. I forget the name brand off hand, but it runs about $250 painted, with lights, and installed.

All this on the new 4-door x-cab.

Is the stock alarm good enough to protect this beauty?

No good news. My East Tennessee dealer says he checked the GM computer today at noon and was given no additional 4dr Silverado allotments. What sort of trade in is anyone getting between a 99 loaded Silverado vs. a loaded 2000 4dr ?

I made my order for a 4 door 2500 LT extended Monday at a large Chevy dealer in Harrisburg, Pa. The key is to use a dealer that sells fleet trucks, heavy duty work trucks and a good amount of them. Anyway he showed me a paper, that came in that day, that 1500 4 doors are being built in January and 4 door 2500's start in May. 2500's are the last in line, but I figure they're worth the wait! Good luck to all and "God's speed"

    Al,

Thank you for giving me the #number in post #140. After reading that many of people have build dates for their orders, I phoned GM back & asked why I was told the other day GM has no idea when???

It looks like I spoke to the wrong people at GM. The representative that I spoke to today, told me that my order will be built within 7 to 10 days! I was told to contact GM next week for an update.

I sure hope that this information is true. I really appreciate everybody forwarding their truck information. According to the representative, my truck is to be built at the Indiana Truck Plant. It's been modified first for the fourth door.

    Thanks again,

I called Sunrise last Friday and was told that I had an order number. On Monday I called GM to check the status. They informed me that my truck is scheduled to be built in the 12-20-99 week. I am going to call every week to see if there is a change.
Feel free to email me at: enelms@netten.net
