werking... great news on your truck coming today. I'm glad to hear that you are able to apply the $500 certificate to your deal for even greater savings. I'm calling my dealer today to find out why I can't do the same as you and others are reporting.
rdve80... looks like I need to read my letter again, maybe I missed something. I definitely want the money if I can get it. Please understand I'm all for anything we can get. Good luck
My dealer will also apply the $500 towards my truck. Since I ordered it under the GMO plan (through my Father-in-law) I will be getting 17% off the MSRP then the additional $500 off brings it to about 19% below invoice.
The difference between MSRP and invoice is about 12.5%.
Add the $840 discount from my GM master card and my 28,688 MSRP truck is down to $22583.....I'll take it!!
wright1, I take "retail purchase" to mean NOT fleet purchase. And GM knows that most customers do not expect to buy at MSRP, therefore any offer tied to MSRP isn't going to have an impact on short term sales. And as I tried to indicated in my previous message, why would GM send a coupon to someone who is already qualified to buy below MSRP and even below invoice. Either GM would have to be totally stupid, or as I believe, they know what they are doing and adding just a little more incentive. Given the short time period of the incentive, most people will have to buy from available dealer stock which is what they want to boost pre-Spring sales. There are a few people who have ordered vehicles that can benefit as well, but even those sales are not guaranteed to GM since they can't legally keep deposit money if the buyer changes his/her mind.
RDVE80, Yes, I have the 17 char VIN#, so the truck is built. Still, it doesn't look like it'll be here this weekend. The dealer says early next week.
I also received the $500 coupon, and my dealer [verbally] agreed to take that off of the deal we made as well. We'll see when it comes time to pay-up. Now this come off before tax, right?
I hope "werking" posts something positive about the purchase tonight! I guess that makes him the first one here to use the coupon. Hope I'm next!
ww00650, Right, the $500 lowers the purchase price and therefore also reduces sales tax. Good news that you have the VIN#, so your in the home stretch now.
I've been told that this fee has to be included in the invoice price. Another salesman told me that the dealer has the option of including this into the invoice. Is the 1st salesman not being honest or is he required by the dealer to do this and he doesn't really know the procedure? I have been working 2 dealers. One dealership has said that he would sell me the Z71 4D LT SB with G80 and QGC at $500 over invoice with no ad fee. Another dealer said that the same vehicle at $300 over invoice with ad fee and a higher bid for my trade-in. The difference in price is about $170 more with the ad fee and TTL. The TTL is more with the dealer who is adding the ad fee. I know that's not very much considering that you spread it over a 4 or 5 year loan. I will be working both of them next month. The only drawback with the dealer who doesn't include the ad fee is that it would take 8-10 weeks of delivery and the other dealer can get the vehicle in 4-6 weeks due to their higher volume of sales. The dealer with the ad fee is in a bigger city and the other dealer is in a small town. That must be the difference. Plus, the dealer in the small town told me that the dealer has the option of including the ad fee. It seems to me that that salesman is better informed than the dealer in the bigger city.
HAS ANYONE HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH F-150 VIBRATING AND SHAKING SIMILAR TO OTHER NEW MAKES. I AM LOOKING TO BUY A NEW TRUCK IN 3 TO 6 MONTHS AND AM TRYING TO DO MY HOMEWORK. THANKS FOR ANY CONSTRUCTIVE INPUT.
Ordered a 2000 Silverado LS extended cab 3/4 ton 2wd on January 12. Was told I could not order 4 door "option" so I ordered regular cab with 3 door. Got a call from my dealer last night who said my vehicle order was received by factory, will be built week of February 14 or February 20 and will be a 4 door. Will see when I get my hands on it 2 weeks from build week (I expect delay!)
Did you get an order number from the dealer? If so, have you checked with GM customer assistance to verify build date? Spoke with my dealer yesterday - I ordered my 2500 LS extended cab with 4 doors on 1/7, dealer placed order 1/11, but no order number or build date provided by factory as of yesterday afternoon.
Dealer did say that he tried to place an order for a commercial customer 2 days ago for 3 - 2500's with 3 doors, but computer would not show / accept 3 door order; would take 4 door order only. Sounds like the 4 door 2500's are finally near production!!
Maybe you don't have confidence in the dealer, but hold on. You've got the VIN# so you should certainly get the truck before 2/29 coupon expires. FYI, I just got off the phone with my dealer and my 4dr. LS 1500 is right now on a rail car in Chandler (AZ?), due to be unloaded in San Antonio, TX Sunday morning and then trucked to Austin on Monday or Tuesday. BTW, my TPW was also 1/10. GM customer assistance said actual build date was 1/13 and it left their computer system on 1/20. So based on that, your truck should be very close even if the dealer can't track it or communicate with you. And they may want you to walk away since they know they can also sell it to someone else. Again, hold on.
My original order of a 4dr,indigo blue, Z71 LS w/leather and much more has shown up at the dealer in Houston (Mike Hall Chevy). I have since ordered another one with some option changes (LT) and color change. Having checked out this vehicle almost made me want to get it instead, I will wait however for the LT. Anyone interest might want to give Bob Blackmon (fleet mgr.)a call. He is very professional and pleasant to work with. I had the deal with him for $200 over inv. Very sweet truck, give him a call, I am sure it won't be around long.
I've posted here in the past but mostly I just like to read. Anyway here's what I got: 2000 GMC Sierra SLT 1500, 5.3L 3.73 Locker, Leather,Tinted windows, Best Stereo, Better Air filter etc. Sportside. How is it .....hmmmmm PERFECT!!! I love her, she the most beautiful thing I've ever owned. I ordered on Oct. 4 so it was a long wait but I really wanted a four door. Hated to do it but with the 12 miles that were on the od I took her up to 78 mph using the cruise 1 mph at a time. This truck is absoulutly SOLID with not even the slightest hint of shimmy or shake or vibration. Only small annoyance I've found is the drivers seatback has about a 1/2", feels like spring loaded, give. It will kinda push forward when I'm stopping. Then lean back when I accelarate. Any one else experience this. BTW the passangers seat is tight. These are the full feature captains. It sure is gonna be hard to keep this puppy in the low to mid 50's for 500 miles or so. You can just feel this baby wanting to roar. Paid $25770 using GMO and then took another $500 of with the loyalty coupon. Built on 1/13/00 delivered on 1/28/00 drove home today. Not positive were it was built as the order sheet said Wentzville and the window sticker said Oshawa, Canada.
Mike, So aren't you glad you stuck it out. Just a few more hours of waiting for you. I'm still waiting for mine, maybe today or tomorrow. Expect to hear your first impressions very soon.
Glad to see some more of you guy's are getting your 4th door trucks. Keep us all posted on how you like 'em.
All I can say after 1000 miles on mine is, she's one fine truck!! I haven't experienced any problems other than trying to learn how all these new fangled automatic features work...but that's getting easier. Over all this is the best truck I've ever owned.
What a truck! This is the best (and only) truck I've ever owned, and is by far the best vehicle overall.
My only nit-pick is the gap between the cab and the bed looks a little on the w-i-d-e scale. I just put a Glasstite 2000 cap on the back, and it looks great, except the gap has just been exagerated.
It looks like about one and quarter inches, and i can see right through to the other side between the panels.
On the brighter side, everything else is flawless. There are even some improvements on it that weren't in the catalog, like the CD built into the head unit and the tape deck in the remote location.
Mike, I totally agree with your first reaction. This truck is in a class of it's own. Do you know that there is a set of new gloves under the tire jack? This and about 100 other small touches. The brakes are excellent. Steering is a little quick, but I'll get used to it. It is almost impossible to stay under 55mph and I haven't had any detectable wind noise around the doors up to 65mph. I have the camper mirrors and the drivers side is great with both flat and wide angle sections, but the passengers side is just flat. It really needs a wide angle even more than the drivers side does.
number1 Not only have I noticed the AC kick in on recirculate, I also found that when the heater is on, the outside air comes in unless you select the duct where it comes out the dash. I read in the owners manual that the truck will heat up faster by changing the transmission shift pattern. I've not noticed the change in shifting yet, but I do know the heater warms up real quick.
Going to take the truck on about a 400 mile (all interstate) trip this week end. Plan to check out gas mileage and the real test, loading up my grand children using my 4 doors....Gonna love it!!
Anyone get delivery on 4 door 2500? Got mine on order to be built week of Feb 14 or 21 and reading all these posts make me believe it will be worth the wait. All these seem to be 1500's so I am hoping 2500's will follow shortly. Also ordered 6.0 v-8, hvy towing and aluminum wheels (cancelled these due to shortage and did not want to hold up order). Will be looking for camper shell but hoped I would not have to spend $1700? Will see!
Why is it we always seem to get the FORD people asking questions about their FORD's on the CHEVY PAGE, are they in a fog, is it envy, jealousy or stupidity. I think it's the latter since people who buy the FORD pickup in place of the Chevy "are home but don't have the lights on" or is it "they don't have all the oars in the water" or "a few sandwiches short of a picnic". Well I guess thats enough FORD bashing for now.
five beers shy of a six pack perhaps??? i know i don't get it... 600+ miles on mine and still loving it. no major problems. and, i think it was you, ray, that asked about the bug guard. yes, the wiper fluid still hits the windshield, even at 80+ mph. i've finally hit that plateau. any other tests i can run...just ask... kyle
Is your order an ext. cab and long bed? That's what I ordered and would hope I'd be in that Feb group. I ordered from a large chev dealer in the Harrisburg,Pa area and they said I was the 1st 4dr 2500 ordered at thier location(back in Dec). How do I get a build date, by the way?
I Paid $2300 total, and installed, for the Glasstite cap, Power rear window slider, neoprene gasket, pocket stake bolt-downs (used to secure cap to bed) and hardwire light on cap. I didn't like the way the clamps look. Next thing is to throw in the bedrug I received about 2 weeks ago. $339 total, from www.calconcepts.com .
I went with the Power slider to keep the kids from fooling with it. It's a long reach to the back window. I would love to add a power unit to the glass slider in the front side of the cap as well, and perhaps a permanent gasket where the two openings join. This may sound stupid, but, is there an electric replacement for the manual latches on the pop out windows in the back of the cab?
I've also noticed something weird about the way the AC turned on all by itself, and the way the recirculater functions. I also got the UV8 cell phone option. Does anybody know what's included? The manual says to see your dealer, and even these guys don't know.
I've got a rather cheap digital camera, but I'll email some pictures if someone would like to post them somewhere.
BTW I still hate my dealer, but we'll see how the service department is when it's time for the first oil change.
Which brand of power rear sliding window did you install? Price? Is there a manufacturers web site? I think this would be a useful item to have especially in an extended cab pickup, a little to far to reach from the drivers seat for a manual slider. Thanks in advance
Antsy is putting it mildly. The weekend is gonna be a killer. However come Monday at about 2 pm EST I'll be calling GM to find out the actual day it gets built next week (TPW 2/7). Here's hopin! PS Sorry about the FORD ranting but you know how us diehard Chevy freaks can be LOL. If only GM would recognize that LOYALTY!!!!!!!
By the way what is that X in the square box for after your post? I click on it but nothing happens. I tried sending e-mail to who ever that was back on the other post (fans@hotmail?) but e-mail never went thru, he said he could tell me how to get that smiley face to post after finishing a post hear.
Kyle:
Do you have a pic posted somewhere of your truck (truckforce web page?) I believe you said the bug guard was a Lund or something but thats what I need is one that looks good and does not redirect the washer fluid spray down the hood of the truck instead of at the windshield like the GTS one did on my last truck. Boy was that annoying & a short life span for the bug guard I might add!
I'll think of some more tests down the road for ya to try LOL
When you get it, I'll have a glass of wine for your sake. Maybe two or three.
I, too, am a Chevy individual. As I said before I bought the Ford, because in 1988 it sat higher, and had more comfortable seats than the Chevy. And it might set higher than the Silverado does now, but it won't be going hunting, so that is not a problem like it was. The "x" comes up when I post the Smiley Face and don't put everything in that is required. I'll e-mail everything to you. Keeping fingers crossed for 2/7 date for you.
Nick, There are many of us that find the ext-cab 4 door the right vehicle for our needs. It's too bad you didn't get a 2000 ext-cab short bed like mine, then you could fit it into a normal garage and use the garage door opener in the overhead console !!!!!
OK, TO EACH HIS OWN! I DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF GARAGES YOU GUY'S HAVE, MY CREW CAB FIT'S FINE IN MINE, RIGHT NEXT TO MY SUBURBAN. AND I DO HAVE MY OPENER IN MY OVERHEAD CONSOLE!!!
Does anyone know I have heard that the $500 GM Extra Value Certificate has been extended to April 3, 2000 instead of Feb 29, 2000. The GM Incentives Offers have been extended to April 3, 2000. I want to order a GMC 1500 SLT 4 door extended cab as I can order GMO. It would not make the Feb 29 deadline. How long is it taking to build a new GMC 1500 4dr slt extended cabs
Steve, Sorry for above, if the Certificate has been extended, you better place your order soon. Expect 8-10 weeks (Chevy, GMC maybe more based on other posts), could be less but could also be more depending on options availability and factory build schedules. There are a lot of other guys with trucks on order that will be very happy with this extension.
I have only 220 miles so far on my 1500 LS 4dr, but I couldn't be more satisfied. The old '89 was good, but this truck is great and I'm still learning. No wind noise from the doors or the camper mirrors up to 70mph. I like the SCV on the radio, much better instrument illumination at night, no light reflection from the instrument panel during the day. Both acceleration and brakes are great. I've adjusted to the quicker steering. There is however no engine deceleration. Yea, so it cost $8000 more than 11 years ago, my opinion is that it is the best vehicle and value on the market. I hope that others are equally satisfied.
My build date of my truck was 1/17/00, and I picked it up on 2/3. It is just perfect. Silverado 1500 LT Z 71. It has everything! It is worth the wait. I have enjoyed reading all of the posts on this bulletin board. I don't know what I will do for entertainment now in the evenings! There is alot of good information given on the board. It has helped me with my decisions, not to mention it saved me $500 from GM customer loyalty. Thanks, Ron
I just got my order number today can anyone tell me how soon should I call GM for a build date? Ordering a 1500 LS Ext. Cab 4X4, 4door. CANT WAIT Thanks for all the info everyone.
ray's right. i called on average twice a week during the month of december just to hear the guy/gal say, "call us back in january and we'll have a tpw for you." end of dec, got a tpw of 10 jan. 17 jan found out it was AT the dealer. took delivery from the dealer on 21 jan. bug the [non-permissible content removed] out of them. it's their job to answer the phone, it's yours to keep them busy...

It may be optimistic to expect anything much less than that.

Hey Edmunds, my dealer is giving me a MAJOR runaround. Why don't you delete them?
It's Friday evening, and still nothing. Dealer continues to tell me "It should be here any day now."
How can you get such specific data from your dealer, or GM for that matter? It seems like everyone is clueless when I talk to them.
I think being a Weather-man is the only other occupation where you can give incorrect information most of the time, and still get paid.
