I got my Corolla LE today with the folowing options

BE - Driver & Passenger Side Bolster/Curtain Airbags
VJ - Electric Cruise Control, Radio: JBL AM/FM w/In-Dash 6-CD Changer, Includes 8 speaker audio..
CT - Carpet Floor Trunk Mat Set (5-Piece Set)

    MSRP - $ 17,987
    invoice - $ 16,348 (less $500 rebate)
    Paid - $14,000 ($15,340 OTD)

NOBODY is going to sell a Corolla LE for over $2K below invoice. There is just no way I can believe this post unless I see a signed Purchase Agreement.
  • prabhu1prabhu1 Member Posts: 4
I said what I got. I purchased this after a short negotiation and the dealer agreed to beat the competitors offer. Took the car at 7.30 PM on 5/31, after a 50 minutes paperwork.

    This is in SoCal.
  • mizcomizco Member Posts: 10
I believe it. I got the same deal on a 2006 Corolla LE automatic. Same options minus the side airbags. This was also in LA.
  • kannkann Member Posts: 10
    WOW!!
That is a graet deal. I am in North Carolina, and the best offer i have is 15400, Not including TTL.
ABS, Audio Value Package are the options.
    TMV invoice is 15,678.
How did you guys get this crazy deal?

WoW you must be quite good bargainers.
  • kannkann Member Posts: 10
    the side airbags, are 600bucks!!
looks like this person got the deal becoz, of monthend lot clearance.
what about you, did you too buy the car at the end of may?
  • beantownbeantown Member Posts: 228
I can understand getting a good deal at the end of the month on a slow seller.....but over $2K below invoice and approximately $1,200 - $1,500 less than anyone else here has gotten (for a car that is already selling better than any other car in the country and doesn't need any further incentives) just seems a little far-fetched to me.
  • cstaker2006cstaker2006 Member Posts: 5
Which dealership? If it is real, I want to check out by myself. I am in LA, too. Thanks.
  • mizcomizco Member Posts: 10
Why can't you believe that a few of us have gotten really good deals? I'm not lying about it and I doubt anyone else is. I went through internet sales, bought at the end of the month and just found a really good dealership.
  • beantownbeantown Member Posts: 228
Because I've seen hundreds of posts on this board and other sites like toyotanation, tundrasolutions, etc. with people discussing their purchase prices and I've not seen one other person get within $1,000 of this price.

I also went through this with another poster back in September that came up with an unbelievable deal, coincidentally on a very similar auto. When pushed to provide dealership info, he never provided it and disappeared after simply giving the state.

That is why I don't believe it.

And judging by the number of responses for people looking for dealership info because they cannot believe it, I'm not alone.
  • mizcomizco Member Posts: 10
Fine. I got a good deal but you don't have to believe it. Marina del Rey Toyota in LA, CA (well, Marina del Rey). Go through internet sales at the end of the month and see what you can get.

    Hi all

I am looking to buy a corolla CE model (nothing fancy, probably just a basic one). I am wondering if there is anything significant differences in turns of pricing, dealership's willingness to negotiate, and tax/registration fees between the 2 states. The car will be used in Arizona.

I have been looking through dealer's web specials. The advertised prices seem similar, but I don't know the true cost (i.e. when you include TTL and other stuff). I would really appreciate it if someone can shed some light on this subject. Thank you in advance
  • zzhungzzhung Member Posts: 12
Anyone in SF bay area CA please share your purchase price of a corolla LE automatic? Thanks.
  • cstaker2006cstaker2006 Member Posts: 5
Hi Mizco, I called the manager at Marina del Ray, he told me the car you bought didn't come with a side air bag. That will be 563 more for that option. So are u sure you got that? And he told me the car you bought is the lowest price they offered for May.
  • mizcomizco Member Posts: 10
I never said I had side airbags. That was a different poster.

I've got the audio value package and weatherguard. That's all. So am I still a liar?

    Jeez.
  • cstaker2006cstaker2006 Member Posts: 5
Thank you, mizco. I never said you are a liar. Actually I got the useful info from you. I got the same deal as you. 15470 OTD, LX, auto, audio and weather package.
  • cstaker2006cstaker2006 Member Posts: 5
Oops, 100 bucks more than yours. Doesn't matter, it is already an excellent price for a sloppy negotiator like me.
  • prabhu1prabhu1 Member Posts: 4
As I mentioned earlier, I called the internet sale dept of the dealer on the 5/31 evening around 6.30PM and negotiated the price against their competitor's.

Since I benefited from the forum, I just wanted to share my experience with others. I do not have to give any misinformation. It is upto the individual to believe it or not.

With this experience, certainly I will think twice before I post anything on the forums.

    Thanks everyone.

BTW, I purchased my car from Claremont Toyota.
  • mizcomizco Member Posts: 10
Sorry, it wasn't you. Someone else was insinuating that I was lying and that was sort of aggravating. When I went back and looked I realized it wasn't you. I hope your deal works out for you. I was very impressed with that dealership.
  • havieri23havieri23 Member Posts: 5
damn guy's great deal you got. i paid $14,999 for mines before ttl. I thought i did good, but man wished i tried for $14000 now....lol
  • kannkann Member Posts: 10
    Hey Prabhu,
Nobody is accusing you of anything. You had one heck of a deal, Good for you. It just happens that one person couldnt believe it. We all appreciate your taking the time to share this info with us. this would help us negotiate better.
    Thanks

Is there anybody looking to buy a LE in the North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee area? We could swap info about the lowest quotes in this area.

Just bought 2006 Corolla LE Auto with side airbag, ABS, Audio package at $17000 including everything (Tax, docu,... ) in Indiana.
The price is a little bit lower than the invoice, don't know whether it is a deal or not.
  • kannkann Member Posts: 10
You got a good deal, better than the average person gets for a corolla, Your extra options ABS and airbags are a 1000 bucks more, so 17K OTD is a good price.
Have a great time on your car.

    Hi, everyone,

I am looking for a 2006 Corolla LE (auto) with Side air bags, ABS.

I was offered an OTD price for $16600 (which includes 8.375% NY tax, title registration, and New York tire fees?) Is this possible? Since it is an OTD price, what kinds of tricks can the dealer do to maximize their profit? Bait and switch maybe?

The second best offer I got is $17037.50 OTD.
From the email I got from the dealer, the corolla has:

    Vehicle Base Model
    50 State Emissions .........................
Driver & Passenger Side & Curtain Airbags ..
    All Weather Guard Package ..................
Anti-Lock Brake System with Tire Pressure Monitor....................................
Audio Value Package Includes: AM/FM/In-Dash CD Changer w/6 Speakers and Cruise Control .............................
    Carpet Floor Mats/Cargo Mat (5pc) ..........

The first dealer is a little bit far away from New York City, maybe that is why?

The rest of the the offers I got vary from $17570 to $17800. And they are not willing to negotiate.

    Any suggestions/comments?

    Thanks in advance.
  • dergirldergirl Member Posts: 3
Most toyota dealers are not willing to negotiate simply due to their reputable sales and the williness to sell to anyone. Toyotas are a top selling car and they are not hard to sell to anyone thats why you dont see toyotas go for dirt cheap or a big discount! :D
  • kannkann Member Posts: 10
That is a great price considering your NY taxes.
I would say go for it!!
This offer is better than anything i have onhand now.
I am in NC, and looking for a car in VA,MD.

  • zzz2006zzz2006 Member Posts: 25
Yeah, I know $16600 is a great price, sort of too good to be true, don't you think?
I am afraid that the dealer may play some tricks.
On their Friday ads, they have a 2006 corolla LE for $12999 (base model, and you have to add destination fee, tax, title etc.) In order to get that price you have do 90% finace through the dealer (might be a 10% APR or more?)

$16600 sounds really tempting. I believe the dealer has no profit for that price. $17000 sounds more real, don't you think?
  • john500john500 Member Posts: 409
This is from Toyota of Runnemede, NJ

    MSRP 14,105
    all weather guard 70
    floor mats 88
    delivery 580
    total MSRP 14,843

    NJ tax = 6 % (currently)
state fee of about $10 for tire disposal
about $50 for a registration transfer

Out the door cost = $14,717

    No trade, cash payment.
  • kannkann Member Posts: 10
Dont worry about the dealers profit, even if the dealer sells a car below invoice, he gets the dealer holdback which is 2-3% of the total cost from toyota after a quarter. and remember everyday the car is on the lot, the deaer loses money as interest. So call them up have a written Quote, print it out, and buy your car. If you dont get that car somebody else will.

Ha Ha, I would get the car except it is too far. I am in NC.
    bye

FYI, just got a call from Cerritos Toyota. They offer me $12788 for CE + Auto (plus ttl) and $14478 for LE + Auto. Toyota has $500 rebate going on. But I know, from this group, someone got LE/Auto for $15K OTD. So I won't say this is the best deal.

Anyone knows the lowest auto interest rate today, for new car and 60 mo term? thanks

    Are these typical characteristics?

    1. I have about 400 miles on a new Corolla CE (5 speed. When the car is at rest and the steering wheel is turned, the idle increases slightly from about 800 to 1200 rpm). I have seen this behavior with motorcycles (because the throttle control is from a cable running inline with the handlebars and only when it is not adjusted properly), but I can't think of any mechanism to explain this on a car.

    2. When shifting, there is a slight increase in engine rpm before decreasing (even after the clutch pedal is fully depressed). I've driven just about every type of car on the planet and I have only seen this behavior on the lowest grade used cars. I did not expect this from a brand new Corolla. Has anyone else experienced this? Perhaps 1 and 2 are related?

    The good news:
Maund Toyota in Austin has been advertising 2006 LE's at $3,000 off MSRP. Offier is for-real, I bought one at this price. $19,000 car for $16,000! Didn't do a trade-in. It wasn't loaded with a bunch of "Gulf States" junk either.

    The bad news:
They have sold-out. Not sure if they will run any more at this price.
  • john500john500 Member Posts: 409
Question 1 solved. All of my vehicles change rpm with the steering wheel, however, the rpm does not change as much (must be related to the lower power motor on the Corolla). It is likely related to the power draw from the belt-driven power steering assist.

Still haven't figured out 2 yet.
  • flboyflboy Member Posts: 3
no one wanted to deal and all the junk fee's were a joke. Had to make a decision to buy a 2006 Sentra 1.8S with the SE pkg MSRP $17415. Paid $14,400 OTD including 6% tax, title, tag and a full tank of gas. I like Toyota Corolla  but not at the current prices.
  • kannkann Member Posts: 10
    Hi Guys,
After a hunt for over 2 weeks, i got a decent deal for a Corolla LE auto,
Corolla LE Auto, Audio Package (cruise & 6-CD) Weather Package , Door mats and cargo mat.
    Base price: 14270
    Grad Discount: 400
Final OTD price with everything: 14650.
Edmunds TMV is 15500 for base price.

I got this price from Alexandria Toyota, VA. I liked the great service there. Financed with toyota for 4.9% for 60 months. These forums helped me in understanding the bargain dynamics, thanks to all who helped. If you are in or around this region look out fot tent sales and buy your cars, Beltway Toyota and Alexandria Toyota would be my recommendations. BTW, I am from NC, and went o VA for this deal! 250 miles!!!!
    All the very best.
    Thanks

    LE, Automatic
    50 state emission (code FE)
    All Weather Guard (Code CK)
    Audio Value Package (Code VV)
    Side Air Bags (Code BE)
    Anti-Lock Brake System (Code AB)
    Carpet Floor Mats (Code CF)

    They are offering 60 mos @ 4.9

    Any comments?
  • zzz2006zzz2006 Member Posts: 25
    That is a great deal!

I wish I live in VA. Gotta love 3% tax.
  • makismakis Member Posts: 8
Congrats for your car. Excellent deal!

I also plan to buy a car from another state.
    Please tell me:
    1) do you have to pay the tax difference (NC -VA)? In MI there is a 6%tax, so if I buy from VA I would have to pay this difference (3%)

    2) do you have to do the regular maintenance at a Toyota dealership during waranty period? However, I assume it shouldn't necessarily be the same dealership you bought it from.

Thanks , and enjoy the new car.
  • mcdawggmcdawgg Member Posts: 1,722
You have to pay the tax rate for whereever you live, irregardless of where you buy it.

You do not have to do the maintenance at a Toyota dealer, but you MUST perform all the maintenance outlined in the owner's manual. If you have someone else do it, obtain detailed receipts and keep them with dates and mileage on them. If you do it yourself, for example oil changes, keep store receipts for the oil, and the receipt for the oil filters and drain plug gaskets. Also, (if you do it yourself) keep a small note book of when you performed the oil change (dates and miles) and sign it.

No matter who does the work, I highly recommend using Toyota parts. If you must, buy them yourself and give them to your mechanic. You are buying the best car possible, do not skimp on the parts.

First of all, thank you guys for being so
    honest about your experiences!

Secondly I am graduating college and decided
to get a Corolla, but the cheapest I found in MN is

CE AUTO, (nothing else) is 144xx
LE AUTO, (nothing else) is 153xx

Not to mension sales tax is 6.5%

Who can think of a moon roof when things are that
    expensive :(

Anyone near by got a better deal?
  • makismakis Member Posts: 8
Thank you for your detailed reply.

You are right, I will definitely use Toyota parts.

  • conancconanc Member Posts: 14
Wow -- that is a great deal. Can you tell me where the $500 rebate comes in? Is that college grad? Lowest price I can come up with these same options in MA/RI is. Any advice?

    MSRP: $18,098.00
    Price: $16,597.00
    RI taxes (7%): $1161.79
    Plate transfer: $49.00
    Doc.fee: $195.00
    Total OTD: $18,002.79
  • conancconanc Member Posts: 14
Was just on the toyota.com website. I realize now that the $500 is not offered in RI or MA, but it is offered in CT. The promo on Corollas for RI/MA is 4.90%. It's strange how these offers work, but since we are only about 90 miles away from CT we are considering doing business with a dealership there. Thanks for posting!
  • zzz2006zzz2006 Member Posts: 25
If you can not get the price in CT, come all the way to NYC. I think you should be able to get it for $15100 plus tax and title.

You are still paying RI tax, not NY tax.
