As regards invoice, I thought that Edmund's invoice for the car did not include regional destination or advertising fees. That $14,583 is the same I see for Edmund's invoice in my central virginia area.
$576 regional fee sounds typical for the Toyota way of business. I have no idea if any of it makes it back to the dealer. From what I have read about it here is that it is just additional cost passed on by the dealer to the customer.
I'm a proud new owner of a 2004 Lunar Mist Corolla S for $15,812 out the door!! Sticker was $16,935. Price before tax and lic. was $14,500.
2004 Corolla S
Automatic,
Power Package,
Cruise Control,
3in1, radio/CD/cassette,
Accessory package, (floor mats, trunk mat, cargo net.)
Free oil Changes from dealer for life of ownership
Pretty good deal?
* automatic
* sunroof
* audio/cassette/cd player combo with 6 speakers
* carpet mats
* cruise control
* impulse red color
Out of the door price: $16,200! (MSRP was $17,433 + sales tax (6%) + reg/transfer tag ($65) + misc FL law fees ($23.50) - rebate ($500)= $18,067.48).
Very smooth sales process because I did all my homework online. Only spent 2 1/2 hours in the dealership with 2 test drives done during that time. I dealt directly with the Internet Manager, whom I have extended at least 20 msgs back and forth. He matched a very aggressive offer from another dealer and also gave me some extras. I am very happy with my purchasing!
In the Southern California Region?
Thanks
So we haggled a price over the phone. I offered $17,000 (about $150 over invoice). He countered with $17,800 ($1,100 below MSRP). We met at $17,600. I guess he won the haggling, but I still got the car for about par with Edmunds TMV. (I guess it's easier to negociate the true price of the car as opposed to a monthly payment.)
We flew to SLC two days later. The next day the salesman picked us up from our hotel in our new "loaded" Corolla LE. Very pleasent buying experience with no pressure.
We paid about $200 in addition for other fees, but knocked off several hundred dollars of fees like window engraved theft insurance and an undercarriage coat protection. We added the 6 year 100,000 mile warrante for $640.
That was about three months ago and we are very happy with our Corolla. All my friends are baffled that we have a Corolla with leather interior. I just smile and feel spoiled.
Let me know if that is a good deal or am I being over priced? Thanks!!

Bought it the last day of September (month/quarter end). While several dealers were not willing to budge a week or two before that, it was amazing how much more flexible they were come sales quota/commission time.
Probably could have negotiated a little better deal but the dealer was close buy.
I'm very happy with the car and feel it is a good value for reliability,features and refinements. Looks and feels like a more expensive car. Was thinking about getting the Camry or Accord but felt it wasn't worth the extra $5,000-$8,000 to the the options I got. Have not experienced problems that many complain about. No sulfur smell, driving position ok (I'm 5'4").
Would appreciate hearing back from you if you think this was a good deal or of you've found better deals.
cruise control and upgraded radio. Has anyone bought anything similar and What might be a reasonable price?

How did I do?
Don't go to the dealership in person. Just put out several requests though Edmund's for 3 or 4 dealerships near you and just work with them over the phone. I had them under cut each other during the last day of the Thanksgiving sale. You would be surpised at how one dealership would rather lose a couple of bucks to give you the car than to help a competing dealership make his quota and possibly an additional bonus. I had the price finalized before I stepped foot onto the dealership lot. This also buypasses the commission for the salesman who shakes your hand as you walk onto the lot. You only deal with the internet manager.
PS: I also got the 0% financing for 3 years
what is the name of the dealership
and the contact person info, if you
could provide this info that would be
very helpful.
I am also in the market for an '04 corolla,
hope I can get a good deal, so far I received
a quote of 14.9K for LE-automatic here in
N Calif
Thanks.
Hi toy_fan,
The dealer I went to was Hayward Toyota. The buying experience was great there. You might get a different price depending on which salesman you get, which car you are interested in, and a host of other factors.
I still think your best bet is to email several dealers and do all your comparison shopping online. It saves a great deal of effort and time.
Can I still get this rate around here? Any tips on how to go about this??
AB Antilock Braking System
BE Side Impact Airbags
CL Cruise Control
EJ AM/FM/Cass/CD Combo
CF Carpet Floor Mats
CK All Weather Guard Package
C1 Trunk Net
After I requested quotes from the net I went to a dealership and they offered $15800 and asked me to put down $100 deposit (100% refundable). Later I went to another dealer where my friend bought his van there. I told the salesman that I got offers between $15400-15700. He asked whether I decide to buy if $15400 is fine with the manager and I said fine. The manager offered $15500 with I said I can get elsewhere and later lowered to $15425, which I agreed with the trunk net throwed in the deal.
I am happy with the deal and the car, except that the acceleration below 10MPH drags a little bit (which may be the case for most cars in this class) and the "rotten egg" smell sometimes.
it comes with:
cruise control
CD,cassett& 6 speakers
4 carpet floor mats
and it has an alarm installed and they asked for $500 extra(its ridiculous huh?!). so we didnt want it and we let them remove it.
I'm looking to buy a new car in February or so. My top picks are the '04 Corolla S and the '04 Civic LE (automatic and 4-door). Each car has things that I like and dislike, which is making this decision even MORE difficult! Does anyone have any suggestions? There are TONS of dealerships in the VA/DC/MD area for Honda and Toyota so I have plenty of options. I test drove the Civic and LOVED it; the salesperson allowed me to take it out by myself, so I really got to drive it. I also test drove the Corolla but the salesperson had to sit with me, took me on a horrible course (it wasn't conducive for feeling the car out), and he knew NOTHING about the car! I want to give the Corolla another shot, because it clearly got a raw deal. Does anyone have anything they'd like to direct my attention to as far as purchasing the S over the LE? Thanks!
the S has those ugly lower body skirts-- just awful

The price quoted at Carsdirect is $15,377 as the MSRP is $16,630 and Invoice price is $15,277.

After ALL rebates, including the $400 college graduate discount, I got this car for $14,085 at Piercey Toyota in San Jose. This is before tax and other fees of course. Out of the door price was $15,516.98. Price wise, this is not the best deal I was offerred, but the service + not having to drive so far made up for it.
(By the way, you can get the discount if you graduated in the last two years or will graduate within the next 6 months. Thought you may like to know.

The Internet Sales Manager was VERY helpful and nice and so was the Finance Manager.
I did all my research online and negotiated through emails.
--------
I went to Capitol Toyota first and received such poor service and high price, too. The saleman said that he was not allowed to show the invoice price. He hid it while someone he called his manager passed by. He showed me the invoice price acting like he is the nicest saleperson, risking his job for his customer - what a liar!!!
-------
I bought my car at Piercey because of the price and the outstanding service level.
-------
I love my car!!!
What I've heard/read most about Civics versus Corollas is that Civics handle better (more 'sporty') and that you need to check out the Corollas driving position (which clearly does not work for some people).
If you want a 'fully loaded' car, the Civic EX has just about everything standard; if you can live without some power goodies, you may get a better deal on a Corolla.
I'm looking to buy a new 2004 Toyota Corolla LE next month with automatic transmission and these options:
- CL Cruise Control
- CK All Weather Guard Package
Can you tell me where can I get a good deal in Chicago metro area, and how much can I get it for with these options ? Thanks.
- Automatic transmission
- AB: ABS brakes
- BE: Side-impact airbags
- CK: All-weather guard package
- CF: Carpet floor mats
- CL: Cruise control
- V5: RS3200 Plus security system
- EJ: AM/FM/Cassette/CD
- N1: Auto day/night mirror
The dealer told me they're selling it below invoice (since they're counting TDA). It's above edmunds invoice (by $100 I think).
Thought I would share for future buyers.
- Automatic transmission
- CK: All-weather guard package
- CL: Cruise control
- Z1: Carpet floor mats / Trunk mat / Cargo Net
I'm very happy with my purchase!

The price was $200 over invoice. The invoice included the Advertising fee. The entire negotiation process took about 5 minutes. The only extra charge was a doc fee of $95.
The dealer was Dayton Toyota. Very professional salesperson and manager.
I'm looking for the best deal for Corolla'04. At first time, I expected to pay cash because I don't have any credits. After calling to the salesman from TOYOTA dealer in RENTON,WA , the salesman offered the finance, so I asked my wife to meet him for figuring out the interest rate. When my wife went to there, she was very upset that the salesman tried to insult her and told her that it's ridiculous to get approved the finance. Then, she called me to talk to that guy, and I was also really upset from that conversation. Maybe I'm an international student, so he didn't treat us well as normal. Finally, I asked to talk to the sale's manager. A moment later, some guy spoke to me with very rude voice and blamed me like I'm stupid person.
Anybody has any idea to complaint to the owner of this dealer? I can't believe this dealer had the president's award. I just want to pass my message to someone who can take care it. This is the bad experience from one of foreigners in USA.
I was hoping to find someone who bought a car there and if he/she felt they got a good deal and that Joyce Toyota was honest, etc. Thanks
Bought a 2004 Corolla LE, 4-sp automatic at Desert Sun Motors in Alamogordo, NM (Denver region) on Saturday 28 Feb 04. Basic vehicle Invoice price: $14,098. Options at dealer invoice price: Antilock brakes $258, Side impact airbags $215, Cruise control $200, AM/FM/Cass/CD combo $105, All weather guard $59, Carpet floor mats $54, Trunk mat $35. Total Options $926. Destination charge $515. Total dealer invoice = $15,539. Dealer charged me $15,442 = $97 below dealer invoice. Dealer had vehicle trailered down from Albuquerque at no charge to me! Additional dealer charges = $39.50 License fee and $89 dealer service transfer fee, but no other dealer fees.
State sales tax = $515.76 (3% of dealer price, plus 3% of $750 Customer rebate, and 3% of dealer's $1,000 cash-match incentive!) I was sceptical of being taxed on a $750 rebate and a dealer's "cash match" of $1,000, but the manager of our local DMV read the state law to me from her computer terminal! Can't really complain about a 3% sales tax though!
Out-the-door cost to me was $16,086.26 which included tax, title and license. Desert Sun gave the best price and quickest delivery over Las Cruces, Roswell, and El Paso. Initial contact with Desert Sun was face-to-face and unpleasant/unhelpful. All other contacts with them and other area dealers was via the Intenet, a convenient, less-hassle means of negotiating. End-of-month buying seemed to influence the dealer's price quote a lot.
Mineral-green opalescent exterior, pebble-beige interior. Like the car, don't see the "awkward driving/steering wheel position complaint" oft mentioned in articles. $400 Marketing Support was in effect at time of purchase. Good luck to all, my first Corolla, hope to enjoy its much tauted reliability, fuel econmomy, and comfort.
Thanks!
NO, that is NOT a good deal. Don't fall for their "can i make $xxx profit, please?"
Carmax is selling new Corollas for a couple hundred UNDER invoice. PLus, TMV is usually a bit high if you're a smart shopper. Plus, the bait and switch on your 0% financing would make me RUN from that dealer!
All in all, figure out the car you want, and email the dealers with your choice and what you will pay (it works VERY well). Just do yourself a favor and avoid that other dealership!
I want to buy a "04 Corolla CE AT", with no extra options added beyond what's already come standard with the CE (Auto, air etc). I wonder: is $12,000-12,500 a resonable fair range I can expect (include destination & rebate, but before Tax-Title-DocumFee) ? I will apreciate your input and help on this, thanks.
