Bob: got the print copy of AN, and it has a little more. They mention the PT Cruiser convertible - how will it be qualified since it loses the removable seat that earn the loophole for the wagon?

They also quote a Subaru exec saying the Baja will be classified as a truck, which is a first for Subaru. I guess they got tired of fighting for CAFE standards.

Any how, that really opens the door for an H6 Baja. Now I really don't get why they didn't go with an H6 from the get-go! They could have had favorable press, then offer the H4 at a lower price to draw in more people.

I have 2 also, SPorts Car GT and TOCA II. TOCA is real hard, Sports Car GT is nice cause you can build up your car with $ from winning races.

I would be really upset if I just purchased a PS2 at $300. However, Sony is probably settting themselves up for PS3. The chip(s) for that will be made by IBM here in NY. :)

From what I hear it's a good deal since a DVD player is like $125 to begin with, so for an extra $75 you get PS2 as well.

    Greg,

I'm sure the PS3 is a long, long ways off. Remember that the PSOne's field life was 1995-2001, exclusively, and it continues on as a low-end alternative to the PS2 even today.

I think the price drop is more about hitting the competitors where it hurts, especially the XBox since at its current price it's already a net loss per unit.

but yer a little late to the discussion, yeah? =)

Colin-actually they already announced it- PS3 for x-mas '05. so I need to save up for that AND a B4. Naaaahhhh, just the B4!

Juice: 6 years left on a fixed rater here :)

Video games? We rent 'em once in awhile - I'd never see my kids if we owned one! Computer games are great for the little ones - amazing what 4 & 5 year olds can do.

    Cheers!

Wow, I really like the looks of the new 9-3, judging only by those three smallish pics.

Too bad it's sure to be FWD.

Look closely, that Epsilon platform will be used for our 2005 SUW.

Saab nailed the styling. The bottom pic especially looks quite handsome. The front shows a little too much Saturn influence, but it's good overall.

I also like their cockpit-style interiors. A lot of cars have moved away from that.

The big question is - will people pay BMW-level prices for FWD and 4 cylinders? Even though they put turbos in all of them, I'm just not sure people wouldn't rather have a smooth in-line six instead.

The chassis and style are a start, but they simply have to address their powertrains.

I must say - I am also head over wheels for the Blitzen (blue). I can easily see that as my replacement for the minivan when the kids get old enough. My oldest gets the OB and the wife gets what she wants. We are all very happy and take seperate cars on vacation together. ;)

    re: saab interiors

I sampled a 1999 9-3 Viggen's interior and loved it. I liked the overhead controls, aggressive seat bolsters, shifter placement and feel and the gauge content and placement.

But there's no way the Viggen was a 'good buy' for $38k... That kind of money (nearly) bought an M3. (1999, I know the new M3 is more.)

Everytime I see GM's influence on a good auto manufacturer, I cringe. I do feel that GM has some good technology, but it's sporatic and they just can't execute it well. I hope that Saab, Subaru, etc are influencing GM more than the other way around.

If you purchase a PS2, you must get GT2. Why? Because you can get a Forester (2.0 tb/s) and completely modify it with some insane bhp. I love racing my supped-up subby against the "sport" cars on the game! Sadly, GT3 does not have the Forester...but you can play with the WRX Sti!

and the Project Gotham Racing game. It has a WRX sedan and EVO as cars to choose from. Sometimes, when I'm bored, I play the multiplayer function w/myself. I choose a WRX and EVO for player 1 and 2 respectively. I then choose a hilly San Fran race course and proceed to conduct a demolition derby between the two. I try to be fair and take turns running one into the other but I have to confess that I let the WRX beat the living daylights out of the EVO more often than not. :-)

Yup, you read all of of those letters correctly. Nope I don't have all of those but my wife knows someone who does. At the IT firm she works at the programmers must get paid well. One of her co-workers who is a coder bought an NSX last year. Then he bought an MDX for his wife. He also had a Ford Exploder on lease that he drove on rainy days when he was not sure about the NSX. When the Ford's lease ran out he bought a Blue WRX 5 speed sedan. I guess he figured that was a way to still have fun on rainy days. (DUH)

    TWRX

Now if I could jsut afford the other two he has!
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
An SVX also, kinda like the NSX except all-weather :)

I just recieved another $100 coupon from my Subaru card. I recall Patti saying that although the "points" program was going away, that they were going to offer a replacement. Has anybody heard anything about the replacement program?
(Speaking of Patti, haven't seen her around these parts for a while.)

$38k is too much for FWD, period. I think the cap should be $30k, it should be illegal to sell FWD for more than that! ;-)

alright y'all I'll post some bimmer pics soon. we've been getting quite a bit of rain so it's hard to capture a moment when it's actually clean. although only the rear really gets dirty and perhaps I could shoot from 10'+ hmm...

btw there was just some discussion in the WRX wagons forum about gas mileage-- I'm getting 23 MPG in mixed city/hwy with the M3. can't complain about that, same if not a tad better than the RS!

Here's my MSN community page. It's almost all photos of house and cat. Next to my WRX, the rest of my time and money is going into the house and...let's see...oh yeah, the WRX wagon hauls things from Home Depot. I knew there was a tie in somewhere. :-)
