I am interested in buying the 2009 MDX with either Tech or Tech +ent package and wondering if anyone has recently bought MDX with any of these configs. If so and if you don't mind please let me know how much you paid OTD (breakdown would be really helpful) and the name of the dealership.
    Would really appreciate the help.

    setting: major metro area

Lease coming due on my American car. I always got great rates with employee discount from big 3 automaker. now lease rates suck. Why should i pay $100 per month more for the same car, when demand is down and the economy sucks?? No point in leasing AFAIK. Not investment advice.

first was interested in 2010 lexus rx. local dealer horrible quote. went to regional area dealer 1 hr away, test drove rx, didn't like several things, and quote was horrible and bad tactics that were laughable like asking me to sign offer sheets before they were "presented" to the manager. good cop bad cop goodbye! thanks for the test drive lol. Also interior seemed cheaper quality vs even a couple years ago, but I may be wrong.

further research: MDX becomes interesting to me. Test drove a base. Liked it. Test drove a friend's TL w/TECH: reaaaaalllly liked the nav/radio and really wanted backup camera for safety with kids espec w/MDX. Decided must have TECH if buy MDX. Although loooooved TL, TL a little too sporty and tight a suspension, and liked the extra room in MDX. Decided to buy MDX (can drive for 8 years, then son can drive it...amortize over 15 years...great deal lol!!!)

multiple dealers inquired. all want me to come in before giving real quotes. all give BS highball quotes even after I inform about my knowledge of others on this blog, invoice, incentives, holdback, incentive interest etc. No one wants to play ball. Maybe they can't drop price cuz not mgrs?

contacted mgr in neighboring state dealership (75 min drive).

    offerred 39750 + TTL, back and forth until i accepted 40100 + 250 fee + TTL.

I ask them to deliver car to my house to sign papers after test drive, then i test drove the car, and signed and bought the car.

I think I got an ok deal, but not the greatest deal. But whatever, at least the dealership that was easy to deal with and gave me minimal BS got my business and we closed deal quickly.

The other dealers wanted me to drive in (up to an hour for many of them), get hooked on the car, and then sit in the pressure cooker of the dealership. Their offers sucked.

    I suck at negotiating BTW

I plan to purchase a used 2004 MDX Touring pkg. It has 70K and asking price is $15K. I have a few questions: (1) Is this a good price. (2) what issues regarding vehicle should I be aware of. I hear about tranny and Navi issues but not familiar with details. (3) Any other advice on this car or the purchasing of this car. (4) essentially any informative input would be greatly appreciated.
  • petertpetert Member Posts: 23
With 15K + a little, you can go for a new car, with at least 3 years new car warranty.

You may search for the tranny issues at this forum for Honda Odyssey or Acura MDX.
It may cost $$$$ to get it fixed.

The current MDX model with AWD is quite different with 2004 model.

Classic mistake. The deals should be negotiated seperatly. Also the negotiated car transactions should be clear on your invoice.
  • aubreywheatonaubreywheaton Member Posts: 5
MSRP was 45,850 btw includ destination
  • kd55kd55 Member Posts: 6
I got them down to 40,720.00,

added $99 for dealer processing charge,

    plus sales tax $2,418.54,

registration and title and tire tax came to $289.00.

    I put down $2,500.00

and it took the final price down to $41026.54.

    All,
I need some help on my deal.
I got a quote on 2009 MDX basic. The Out the Door price is $38417.
    That includes:
    Fees + Title = $197
7% sale tax in Pittsburgh Pa = Aprox $2500
    Real price is $38417-197-2500= 35,720.00

    Is this a good deal?

I need your help. Ijst purchased 2006 MDX with 39,000 miles., it is acura preowned certified car from Herb Connolly Acura. When I went in to pay they charged me an additonal 400.00 for some document fee. What was that? Is that legal, no one ever mentioned that to me. Also they are trying to sell me additional exteneded warrenty. The basic plan is $1200.00 and cover mechanical coverage beyond factory warrranty uncludes both parts and labor 84 months or 100,000 miles, also paint and leather protection. I guessit includes part and labor for things like radiator, hoses alternator etc. with a disappearing decuctible, what ever that is. Is this worth it, even if it is acura certified. What are your thoughts, I need to tell them tomorrow. Also I did pay that 400.00 document fee, should I talk to them about that too. Thanks..

Good price, they are selling it to you below invoice. It must be black/silver/white right? They rarely let the rarer colors go that cheap. If it's black you may be able to get it for less though as I've heard dealers cutting deep into their holdback to get rid of those.
  • pragypragy Member Posts: 4
    Hi Tudiu,

The price is good. Could you share the dealer if possible?
  • dinoeckdinoeck Member Posts: 8
    Hey Acura 124:

    You're basically asking 2 questions:

    1) "Documentation" fee - $400 - can you avoid it?
My experience is no, you can't. $400 seems high, but they range from $250 to $400 in my experience. This covers the runner to the Mass registry, paperwork, etc. There is SOME value in there to you, but mostly it is another fee. However, I've walked out on a deal because of the fee and they still couldn't drop it. If you have a vehicle you like, I'd say live with it.

    2) Extended warranty - worth it?
Really a personal decision. Remember, insurance sellers are betting statistically that they won't have to pay out above your premium. That is how they make money. BUT they get to bet on 100's of cars. You have to bet on one. If you're spending $25k on a late model MDX, 5% more to know that you have no downside risk in terms of maintenance may be worth it. Personal risk/reward call. read the fine print carefully - you ususlly have a month to elect this kind of insurance. Check Consumer Reports.

Ok, so this advice comes at a cost: I'm looking for the exact same thing - '06 MDX Touring. I've been to Herb Connolly. What were they asking and what did you end up offering? What options and color? I'll probably be pulling the trigger in the next week or so.

    Thanks in advance.

    Tudiu,

Is this the base model? Could you share which dealer you get this quote? Thanks advance!
  • anansianansi Member Posts: 1
That's very similar to a deal that I closed on about 2 weeks ago in NOVA. Got an MDX Tech for $40,619 + TTL of $1,346. Total OTD price $41,965.
  • tudiutudiu Member Posts: 27
They only have 2 left, Black and White. I know, they are going -$2300 below invoice.
The Saleman contacted me again today. I did not answer him yet.
  • tudiutudiu Member Posts: 27

Does any one know whether the 2000 factory incentive given by acura will change the factory Invoice price?
Dealer is quoting 2009 MDX Tech and Entertainment package at 45,300 and is giving factory rebate of 2000 after adding taxes.
    Sticker price: 47600
    Dealer price: 45,300
afterr doc fee, license and taxes and with factory rebate it comes to 46889 OTD.
Any feedback as to how much I am getting screwed here will be greatky appreciated!
Am getting confused as to where the 2K rebate should be subtracted from .. from invoice price for negotiation ?
  • tl_stl_s Member Posts: 13
    sam159,
don't take this bs from your salesman, i don't know what kind of market it is in your area, but i'm here and got quotes with tech/ent. for invoice -$2000.00, so it is $41k some change.
if you have more than two acura dealer within 50 miles of your area, you can do better than that. the incentive is to be taken off before the sales tax. that is bs, they want to ripped your tax dollars as part of their profits. they will report the sale as it really is, not to include the tax in the incentives. the percentage in taxes from your incentives your saleman is quoting you will be profit for them.
people wonder why car dealership and car salemen has such a bad rep. from greedy services rep. to sales rep. :surprise:

I am in Northern NJ. Got very pleasant buying experience over the phone with this guys. Got my pearl white 2009 MDX w/ NAV, ENT pkge, inc. delivery for $41,772.00 (No trade in). Also, adding in sport running boards $681, rails $355, all season mats $104, cargo tray $104, and wheel locks $64. Total before tax & title sum up to $43,080.00. Fin. w/ 1.9% for 3 yrs.
Could do a little better if I nego. on price a little harder! However, they've swaped the truck w/ another dealer at port for me to have the color I like, did not want to push too hard on price. :)
  • wasabeewasabee Member Posts: 31
Hmmm, I read somewhere it is always better to deal directly with the dealer that has the car of your choice. When you are dealing with dealer A to get the car from delaer B it is a lose situation for the buyer. It is like having a middle man.

Is it possible to get the Acura 2009 MDX with Tech/Ent option for $40,500 out of the door (state tax not included)? I read from some previous post, a guy got the MDX base for like $38,000 out of the door, so I figure $40.5K is not a far stretch or am I dreaming.

If your dealer has to locate a car there are transfer fees and transportation costs. Some of this is minimized if both dealers are accustomed to trading inventory. When I bought my 03 vibe, the dealer 15 miles away had what I wanted and they got it from them -- nothing extra. They use each others inventory to increase choices. Not usually the case however.

I just bought a 2009 MDX tech for 41,253 +TTL (this was out the door with all included fees). It is black on black.

    Thoughts?
  • sam159sam159 Member Posts: 13
Went to a difft dealer 30 miles away and bought yesterday for $42071 + TTL. (tech+entertainment pkg) Checked Illinois tax laws and it is true that the rebate is taxable. Not sure whether it depends on the state.
Gave the option for the first dealer to beat/match the second dealer's price and the response was that the I was paying the additional cost for the service. Yeah.. they did offer me bottled water when I went there but didnt know bottled water cost was more than 1500.
  • yankee_njyankee_nj Member Posts: 3
Just to let eveyone know. they have a black on black with Tech&Ent Pkge in their lot that they really want to get rid of. They called me yesterday and they are willing to discount the black one to $41,100+title & tax.
But I still like the white better.

hi, I am in illinoise and want to buy an mdx base. I quoted several dealers, Napleton came up with the best 35750 + delivery + TTL. Is that a good price? Thanks,
  • sam159sam159 Member Posts: 13
Hows the Woodfield quote? Bought MDX from them yesterday. They are good. Heard not so good things about Napleton. DO NOT GO TO NAPERVILLE, ACURA. They would quote much higher and get pissed off if u dont buy from them..
  • jbladejblade Member Posts: 2
thx. who is the saleman? could u reveal how much you paid?
  • wasabeewasabee Member Posts: 31
I think that's an awesome price. Here in Georgia, I got quote for around 37K for ACURA MDX base model from several dealers.

I wonder if the dealer can sell the MDX base for 36K, can they sell the MDX with Tech and DVD option for 40K and still make a nice profit?
  • dealmaestro10dealmaestro10 Member Posts: 20
I am also interested in purchasing MDX tech and was wondering if we go in together and maybe negotiate a better deal. Lowest that I have been quoted for one is $41K + TTL and that is from Schaumburg dealership.
  • sam159sam159 Member Posts: 13
See #8755. Went thro; Internet quote and u will get the person who responded to your quote.

Took the plunge today and purchased a 09 MDX (base) from Champion Acura in League City. I managed to get them to $36,500 + TTL - I had talked with other dealers around Houston and the next lowest price that I could get was $37,800 + TTL. None of the other dealers were willing to do much in the way of negotiation, it was basically here is the price - take it or leave it.

Champion were a pleasure to work with - if you are in the market for an MDX in the Houston area I would recommend that you talk with the folks at Champion. Everyone there was very helpful and courteous throughout the buying process.

09 Sport Tech Package $44.5K includes Racks, Crossbars and Sports Running Boards. Good or Bad?
  • dinoeckdinoeck Member Posts: 8
Gang, just to close the loop, I bought an '06 MDX on Saturday.

Light Blue 2006 MDX base, w/roof rack and running boards, 35km miles, Florida car.

    $23.5k + TTL.

Certified, with an in-service date of 7/31/06, meaning I have 22 months of bumper to bumper warranty, and just under 4 years or 65k miles of powertrain.

They were asking about $4k more.

    Hope this helps others.
  • rmishrarmishra Member Posts: 5
Bad, a dealer here is willing to give 09 MDX+Tech for 40k. Don't think it's worth spending 4.5 k on few accessories (max 41.5 k including all this)

We would like to close a deal on a ’09 MDX and plan to make contact with dealers in the San Francisco Bay Area this week. Would appreciate any help with the following questions:
    1. I would prefer not to have to waste time playing number games at dealerships. Will dealers respond if I e-mail my request (Tech w/ roof rack & tow package installed) and tell them I’ll purchase the vehicle from the dealer providing the lowest price or is it better to call each dealership? If I send an e-mail I would address the message to all my local dealers.
    2. What would be the best way to communicate that I’m willing to consider other models in their inventory (assuming the price is right) without appearing that I’m not serious about closing a deal quickly.
    3. Should I include details regarding my down payment amount and pre-approval with Honda Financing?
    4. Anyone have pricing info on roof rack & tow package; including installation at dealer?

Sport /Tech is different than Tech and incredibly hard to find.... I've not seen anything under 43K in S. Cal.

So, anyone else? $44.5 with Rails, Crossbars and Sport Running Boards

    Good? Bad? Fair?
  • curbcurb Member Posts: 1
There is no such thing as the Sport/Tech. The Sport model has the tech package by default.

Any idea of how much the CPO option cost you ?
  • dinoeckdinoeck Member Posts: 8
I'd guess about $1-1.5k - but worth it to me to have the dealer responsible for another 2 years + they performed $1600 of work to get it CPO'd

Hi Airberd, I am also in the market for an 06 MDX. I am Canadian and plan to travel to the NY/NJ area to purchase. Seems to be a large selection of 06s in the area.

Which dealer did you end up buying at? Looking at carfaxes many of the lower priced MDX seem to have accidents in there history, I'm not interested in a damaged vehicle.

    Thanks
