I just confirmed that they have the Promo APR 1.9% & 2.9% extended. Dont know about the dealer cash though.

By the way I contacted POHANKA ACURA & the salesperson gave a quote of $43974 :confuse: otd (TTL inclusive of 6% tax & tag transfer) for MDX tech pkg which is way high. I told him I was not interested in those nbrs and was looking for 40k

I called up Pohanka today and got same price around 43500 for MDX with tech. I said I cannot pay more than 40K. They have agreed to give me for 40950 - OTD. Picking it up tonight.
  • caprice2caprice2 Member Posts: 34
He said he will talk to his Mgr & try to work with me.
U should be able to get it around 40k+ otd. I think we all from this forum have generated lot of inquiries to them & they got firm on prices by 1k - 2k. this will subside in a week. offer has been extended it seems.

Wow this thread is very active with so many responses. I am planning on buying next week. Hope they will still have this deal when I contact them. :confuse:

Anyone see any 2009 Sterling Grey MDX Base models on the east coast?

That's the color I want and we can't find one. Othewise, I have to take my second choice.
  • lexluthorlexluthor Member Posts: 48
I was told Sterling Grey was discontinued months ago. I don't think you'll find one.

That would have been our first choice too. We went with Billet Silver/Ebony.

I don't know why they discontinued it. It was a nice color.

try Bradshaw Acura in Greenville,SC. I just purchased my white/parchment base MDX there this week. I saw a grey/silver one on the lot, not sure if it the right one, but worth a shot. You can either call or check their website. I'm positive it's a base, because he showed me the other base models to choose from, just not sure if it's your sterling grey vs. the silver. Good Luck!

I think you did fair. I just bought the same - MDX base with all weather floor mats (which I love and am so glad I got-will really protect the carpet all seasons), wheel locks, roof rack and body moldings for $37,000 OTD. I had a trade as well, which they gave me a fair price for. I feel I could have done $500-1000 better, but would have had to travel to the dealership, had no guarantee on what they would have offered for my trade, and also would not have received the extras that I got. It's so easy to get caught up in the prices, but it's a beautiful car and at least we got the $2,000 incentives and we took advantage of the low financing. We bought this brand new MDX for only $1000 more than what we were going to pay for an 08 certified used! Got to be happy about that!

    Hi wondering19,
I think it is an awesome deal. I am in Phoenix, the best I am able to get is 41,500 OTD for the bas model. Was your 37K including trade in or without? If I can get it for 37K, I am thinking to fly to chicago and buy one.
  • kchicagokchicago Member Posts: 4
its woodfiled accura , its at 8% of taxes..
  • sunnyasunnya Member Posts: 3
hi kchicago, can you please post the dealer's name as well. I am planning to get the same offer.
    Thanks.

there were a whole lot of the sterling gray on the lot (magnetic / steel gray) of ramsey acura in new jersey, when we bought ours..we wanted the red with ebony which we picked up end of september.

I have an unofficial offer (not yet in writing) of $40,900 for a 2009 MDX with Tech & Entertainment packages. It seems like a good deal. I woudl appreciate any input on this. Thanks!
  • caprice2caprice2 Member Posts: 34
    Hi Kechal12,
Is the 40.9k for 2009 MDX with Tech & Entertainment Out the door?

I have emailed all the dealers almost in VA & MD, none are offering below (38.7k +TTL)= 41.3k OTD(Lowest was rosenthal acura) for the mdx tech.
    Pls share the DEALER name
  • kechal12kechal12 Member Posts: 26
I don't think that is OTR, something I need to verify, it does include destination and other "fees". will update when I know for certain
  • caprice2caprice2 Member Posts: 34
Is Is the $2000 DEALER CASH EXTENDED , If you see in CARSDIRECT, THE PRICE HAS GONE UP BY 2K. Does anyone think there would be some rebates in December.
    Thx all : :surprise:

After reading all the recent posts I thought it was time to get this group organized (mainly so that I can figure out what to offer). OTD prices are too difficult to break down (too many different states, taxes and interpretations). So lets just say everyone post what they think the target price is for the follwing ( before tax, title and license):

(list any accessories you got added to your deal by the dealer):
    09 MDX Base
    09 MDX Tech
    09 MDX Tech+Ent
    09 MDX Sport
    09 MDX Sport+Ent

It might be the price you paid or just the price you think is the target given todays incentives, marketing support, etc.

I am in...if I could get 09 MDX Base for 34K (including dest+freight+doc charges) as others have claimed I am ready for a group buy. Email me at cbusireddy@gmail.com if you are organizing this. I live in NJ and 4 hr drive to VA is fine for me.
  • rpram1rpram1 Member Posts: 18
Not thinking about a group buy; just want to make sure we all have the best information. I am a long way from Virginia, so let's just say I am looking to force Virgina pricing to the dealers of the midwest and beyond.
  • wondering19wondering19 Member Posts: 6
No, I then took the trade off that price. Originally I was quoted $38,350 for the base MDX. I was able to get 2 other competing offers. The best was $35,488 + TTL. I used that price to negotiate. I got our local dealership to match this price. Only negative was, the color combo I wanted had the Acura protection package (all weather mats, wheel locks), roof rack and body moldings already on it. The protection package was $495, roof rack/body moldings an additional $615. They did come up an additional $500 on my trade to comp me for the protection package. I was fine with paying for the roof rack and moldings because I wanted those. So, that brought the price up a bit - but I still feel like I did well. Not the $34,099 +TTL that others have gotten, I used that number, but no dealership around here would bite!! My trade was ready to die, so I just had to make the deal, otherwise I would have no trade. I feel good about it, especially with the low financing. I bought mine in SC, not Chicago. Hope this helps. Definitely use the internet to have the dealerships bid against each other and see what you find? They are getting limited with 09 models, so I think the deals aren't as good as earlier this fall. Good Luck!!!

I got an 09 MDX base for $35,988 + $495 (all weather floor mats) +$615 (roof rack/body moldings). Hope this helps. Original price they quoted me was $38,350!!!

    Ladies and Gents,

I live in ATL, and the prices I have been quoted are not anywhere close to the one posted here.

    I am looking for
09 MDX Tech+ENT. The quotes I received with dealers in ATL is from $42.5K to $43.5K.

Not anywhere close to $41K as mentioned from the VA dealer.

Any info, please email me at ckwu511@gmail.com
  • rpram1rpram1 Member Posts: 18
I suppose the other question is how the Dealer Cash of $2,000 is being used in your negotiation.

I always assumed with Honda/Acura it was my job to try to get a piece of the dealer cash into my hands in the form of a lower price, knowing the dealer was going to get a big fat check from America Honda.

So I would say that to get closer to the VA dealers you need to grab some more of that dealer cash by holding firm on a lower price demand - maybe at least split it in half, thus trying to get real close to $41k without budging.
  • lexluthorlexluthor Member Posts: 48
    rpram1,

    I disagree.

I think enough of us (at least here in NY/NJ) have beaten up our local dealers and I don't think anyone has really gotten much below $36K for the Base MDX.

I just think, for whatever reason, this VA dealer has (or is it now HAD?) an extra $2K to play with from the factory.

I made it clear to multiple dealers that I'd purchase within the hour for even $34,500 and they just completely declined. I think others have had similar results.

Thanks to whoever posted about putting an end to the OTD price posts. I didn't see any logic behind posting an OTD price, except, I guess to make sure you don't get ripped off on "fees". But, it just made it too confusing here.
  • wondering19wondering19 Member Posts: 6
I agree. I tried using the $34,099 and the best I got was $35,488 +TTL. Not sure how that dealership was able to offer that. I was told that earlier this year they were able to negotiate better prices (with fuel prices high, etc), but now, with 09 models getting in short supply, they won't negotiate as much. The financing is key. If you take advantage of 1.9% or 2.9% it really saves a lot. We were looking at an 08 courtesy vehicle for $34,500. They wouldn't budge off that price, it had $17,000 miles on it and some cosmetic defects. We got a NEW one, with everything I wanted on it for $1,000 more! Not to mention with the lower financing, my payments are lower per month. Just pays to shop around. Regardless, we are all getting pretty good deals on a great car!

    Hi All,
just add some more light to the dealer cash discussion. It seems

In addition to 2k dealer cash we all know, Acura is running two stairstep dealer cash programs on MDX so potentially enable dealers to earn up to another $2,500 :shades: . depends on VOLUME, most dealers are banking on getting around $1,250.
pls refer to car_man msg #1599 of 1599 in the lease discussion. Link below
    http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.ef9d9b8!make=Acura&model=MDX&ed_ma- - keindex=.ef9d9b8

    Thx car_man for the info.
  • ironjeffironjeff Member Posts: 20
Given all these new MDX buyers, is there a separate forum (not on edmunds) for 09 MDXers (or even 07-09 models)? I saw MDXers.org and it looks like it's pretty inactive and may have been useful 5 years ago.
  • lexluthorlexluthor Member Posts: 48
    Nice find caprice2.

That sounds exactly like what's going on here.

In addition to the VA dealership, I think, in the past few days, there have been reports here from 2 other people who got similar deals in other states.

Sounds like the NY/NJ dealerships are in the category of getting nothing extra.
  • zambo2013zambo2013 Member Posts: 10
Even the VA dealer is now only offering $3000 incentive. Plus he is asking for additional $399 as processing fees
  • cbusireddycbusireddy Member Posts: 33
arghhhh...that's bad news...I think I missed this deal...so have to keep waiting till a similar one comes.... :D..i cannot buy this weekend since I am moving....so will see if they offer 4K next week or end of the month...
  • zambo2013zambo2013 Member Posts: 10
Per the VA dealer, Acura has stopped production of 2009 MDX. Only few large volume dealers are getting new arrivals from factory. But other dealers say 2009 are still being made and shipped. Who knows whats the truth
  • lexluthorlexluthor Member Posts: 48
The $399 Processing fee from the VA dealer was always there.

The $34,100 for the Base MDX that I (and others posted) includes the $399 processing fee.
  • zambo2013zambo2013 Member Posts: 10
Now he is not including it, asking extra $399 and only giving $3000 incentive. So total price for base model is 35461+TTL
  • caprice2caprice2 Member Posts: 34
If I dont get MDX TECH for 38 to 38.5k+TTL. I will probably wait for 2010, I am in no hurry. Invoice for 2009 MDX TECH is 41.7k (Max we can squeeze is 3k less from this, but 2009 model is already 1 yr old). 2010 has a lot of changes (I will look to get a deal in feb / march close to 2010 invoice). As far as the 2.9 % APR FOR 60 MTHS, Outside I will be able to get a 4.5%, Any way things are really not flying. :shades:
  • lexluthorlexluthor Member Posts: 48
Wow, I'm sure glad I jumped in on Monday for $34,100 then!
  • rpram1rpram1 Member Posts: 18
    caprice2,
I restarted this discussion this morning and you and I are on the same page regarding 2009 versus 2010. I am not keen on having a 2009 unless I am at a very good entry price, otherwise I will wait. From what I have seen on here - a 2009 Tech is not going to be easy to find for less than $39k +TTL at this time. The question is - am I patient enough to wait for the 2010 to become available and then am I willing to fork out alot more dough.

    Hi all-

Have been monitoring the thread for a bit, and I'm wondering what is the best process to see about getting the lowest price for an Acura MDX '09. I test drove the car a while back, but want to get the '09, since the '10 already seems to have transmission issues. Plus, I don't particularly like the new grill. Somewhat of a newbie to carbuying. Should I go thru something like carsdirect.com? Send emails directly to each dealer? Go directly to the dealers themselves? How does one get them to bid against each other?

One other thing - I'm in the CA bay area, south bay. Though I don't mind driving up the peninsula or east bay if I can get a good deal. Anyone do a recent purchase? Am looking for the Tech package, sterling gray.
  • suv_for_mesuv_for_me Member Posts: 8
Has anyone bought 2009 MDX base version this week? If yes, could you please update with the price. I am looking for one, and I was quoted 36K+Doc+TTL. What is the reasonable quote so I can buy one in a week or so.
  • caprice2caprice2 Member Posts: 34
I got a quote from rosenthal Acura for 38.7k+ TTL for MDX tech, so I think u can get MDX for 34.5 -35k +ttl. Similar pricing from POHANKA ACURA too

To cut all the going back & forth tell them u have already recvd quotes from other dealers & can close the deal immediately.

    Hope this helps. :)

Go back to my earlier posting on Monday or Tuesday. You will get my entire purchase price and lease information.
  • wasabeewasabee Member Posts: 31
Ok folks, I am a bit confused....

I must be nuts to be reading post from way back in June 2009 and see people are claiming to buy the 2009 MDX Tech / Ent for around $40.5K to $42K, yet here we are toward the end of the year and all my quotes for the 2009 MDX Tech / Ent is all around $41.5K to $43K. Am I going crazy or what? I thought that end of year sale is typically the best time to buy.

Anyone has any thoughts on this madness?
  • gadlevingadlevin Member Posts: 4
I think inventories are running low, and MDX is in pretty high demand, they had record sales last month (October 09). Also people are starting to think the mdx 2010 model is not so hot - the company ran into transmission issues with the new box etc. Also many people (your truly included) are not crazy on the new look.
I think this is why prices are good, but no crazy. I got my tech+ent today for about 41.7 (it was leasing) I'm not sure how low you can go. Remember some areas are better than others.
Cheers. I would go quickly with the 09, i pulled trigger since i didn't want to end up paying 8000 more for a 2010 model that wont' offer any significant imporvements.
  • ironjeffironjeff Member Posts: 20
Prices have definitely gone up. Read this forum back to April of 2009 and you'll see that's when the prices were the lowest - and the amex car buying site will confirm that as well with their cool graph. July the prices were still good but higher than april by about $500 or so (at least for the MDX Tech), and September was still more expensive than July. I bought mine in October and it was definitely more than it was in April. I think dealerships are less desperate.
