I've found your monthly list of top lease deals interesting to read. Your spreadsheet tabulating various the costs made it easy to compare leases on a total-cost or cost-per-mile basis. What happened to that spreadsheet this time around?

I've found your monthly list of top leases a waste of time, and space. With every lease, with about $2.000 down, +taxes+bank fee+doc fees+dealer fees+and such the payment becomes about $130.00 more per month. Example: a 2014 Hyundai accent will have a payment of $169+130= $299 a month for 10,000 mile a year. With an X amount of money down you can drive any car for a low price.

Not quite sure of the math .. some fees are expected to be paid up front (acquisition or bank fee, for example). Tax obligations on a lease are based on where you live .. some tax the monthly payment, others calculate the tax for the entire lease up front, still others tax the entire selling price.

Still, for every $1000 added into the lease, the payment over 36 months only goes up about $28 (1000 / 36).

I leased a Hyundai (Elantra GT) last year - my only out of pocket cost was the first months payment. Everything else was covered by the available lease cash. I also added pre-paid maintenance, and my payment is just over $200/mo for 36 months and 15,000 miles per year.
