Intermittent Wipers

My intermittent wipers are not functioning properly and I don't know why. LO and HI work fine. intermittent will swipe once and then that is all. Wat could be causing the problem?

Just bought the car used so it has not been working since we got it.

    since the car is new to you, I wonder if you have fiddled with the intermittent adjustment knob?

    I've fiddled with it, read the manual, looked online and cannot figure out the issue. I thought maybe a fuse was blown but fuse for wipers was fine. Maybe a resistor somewhere along the line?
