What else to check? Isuzu Trooper exhaust noise.

I have a 2000 trooper who was running like a champ. It sounds like a popcorn popping from the exhaust area. The 02 Sensor was recently changed. The check engine light came on and it was the EGR valve. Valve is now changed, codes cleared. It idles fine but when you put the vehicle in drive, and accelerator, you loose power and the popping noise starts. No check engine light since the EGR valve replacement. What else should I be checking? It is a great little vehicle up until now.

    Sonds like a timing problem. Did anyone mess with the spark plug wires? Poss they got loose or reconncted improperly. How does it idle?

    Also check all vacuum lines. If one is disconnected, that might cause that problem.

    An exhaust leak by itself wouldn't cause a power loss, so I'm wondering if you have a loose spark plug or one that is about to pop out of the head.
