What dealership did you buy form?
What part of the country do you live in?
Thanks for posting the pricing on the EX AWD. Has Honda placed any new incentives (dealer incenvtives) on the vehices? I am not aware of any on the AWD units.
The price seems too good, but there are a lot of Pilots on the dealer's lots.
Honda has announced that they are slowing the production of the Pilot. They need to bring inventory levels back down to about the 35-45 day level.
It is a personal decision which type of "feel" you prefer. For us, the pros of the Pilot highly outweighed the extra road noise.
Hope this helps!
We held off and paid off the CRV...my wife wants a Pilot now. I might lease again at some point, but for now I dont really want to take on any new debt.
You were out of factory warranty after a year. Keep in mind that ONE of the computer modules that are in your Pilot would cost MORE than the extended warranty.
Most people do not put that kind of mileage on their vehicles. I would expect 70,000 miles to be on a 4-5 year old car.
Hondas are reliable, but they are not perfect...no car is.
Thanks again.
Like any insurance (home owners, health) you may or may not need to use it for quite a while.
If nay sensor goes on the pilot it will be $1k.
If you have DVD or navigation then hope that doesn't go or it will be at least 2k in expense.
Question for everyone. On the EX model, it said that it comes with a security system, the salesman told me that is not a passive alarm. If I want it to be passive, I have to add-on as an option. Is this true?
It is possible to have that much miles on the car.
What is a good deal for this vehicle? Can you really get at or below invoice? Their MSRP is $34,000.
We live in Iowa and will shop central Iowa over to Omaha if the deal is right. There are three Honda dealers close by Holmes, Ames and Ken Wise.
CERTIFIED, 05 EX Pilot with cloth interior, 11,900 miles.
Auto 24,000
Doc fee 200
Car really 24,200
all taxes/govt fees 800
total out the door 25,000 did it yesterday.
Orig Honda sticker was $30,395 - or so, incl dest fee.
Today, sold her old 97 Oddysey, with 198,037 miles, private sale, $4880 - 20 percent of orig sticker of $24,395 (incl dest charge).
Have you confirmed it?
Honda 4WD EXL with Navigation
Added Options:
back up sensors
running boards
Wood Dash Trim Kit
Wood Interior Trim Kit
Wood Center Panel Trim
Wood Select Lever
All Wood Steering Wheel
Opinions. Is this too high? Is this too low? I am in Memphis, TN
The options you've chosen are nice but they are very labor intensive. A word of caution here; if you are dead set on the running boards, don't wait for a later time to have these put on...do them when you get your car. The bolts that attach to the frame get rusted quickly and are incredibally difficult to remove after a while, at least here in MD due to the salting of the roads.
Why do you say "if you are dead set on the running boards" ? I think they look the SUV look more like an SUV and more rugged but thats just my opinion. Are they having problems for any reason with the running boards?
Thanks for the feedback! You have helped for sure.
$28802+tax+reg+45(doc fee). I believe it is ~500 below invoice. It was in Southern California - Orange County.
I am happy with the deal but I am not happy with the dealership. They tried so many tactics (some very cheep) on me to sell after sale products and pressured me in to buying the vehicle on the spot.

$31,699 EXL/Nav $558 under invoice( still a $500 profit to the dealer)
Your accessories added up to $2,755 which includes labor and some profit.
Back Up Sensors $835
Running Boards $659
Wood Dash Trim $213
Wood Interior Trim $303
Wood Center Panel $69
Wood Gear Knob $137
Wood Steering Wheel $539
So, doing the math I would think that the dealer will be around $34,450 plus your tax and tags.
Honda Pilot 4WD EXL with Navigation -- $32,857.00
The options you asked for -- Backup sensors -- $799.00, Running Boards -- $799.00, Wood Dash Trim -- $249.00, Wood Interior Trim -- $329.00, Wood Center Panel Trim -- $99.00, Wood Select Lever Trim -- $149.00, All Wood Steering Wheel -- $649.00.
This comes to a total of $35,930.00. Your Business Tax is $108.00. The Document Processing Fee is $349.00. The Tn. State Sales Tax is $2,547.15. The City Sales Tax is $80.00. The Temporary Drive-Out Tag is $5.50. New License Plates are approx. $118.00.
This adds up to a total of $39,138.49.
Considering your math jmurman42 I should come back at them at roughly $37,000 everything included.

Sounds like this dealership likes to hold their gross. It migth be the time to go and play the sit down game with them. I'd be right up front about it too. If you have a good salesman, then thats another leg up too.
I had one of my Internet Salesmen come to me this evening with a deal they were working...they needed some more money off to make the deal. The money off would be less that what we would normally do, so I went to bat for them with the GSM. I basically said "take it or leave it no playing around...yes or no"
He grumbled "Frickin (not his exact wording)Internet Department is killing my gross."
Gotta love it...the customer certainly did.
For the people that uses online financing such as capital one, when you use their checks, do the dealer usually give you the car rightaway or you have to wait?
I can see it now, they might be calculating how to chip me in the options and other stuff.
Can someone give me some advices so they can't take advantage of me? If they start messing with me, I'll probably get up and walk out and how will I get my deposit back (on CC).
Thanks in Advance.

With the amount of fraud right now I can see where the dealership can cover themselves until the check clears.
I'm sure you get those Internet type "offers" too.
That being said, if you have a check from Cap 1 and you sit infront of the Business mgr, just ask him to match the deal. He's not going to make much off of it, but it's better than a kick in the pants. They can check quickly by pulling your credit and seeing that Cap 1 ran your credit.
We don't let an Internet type bank stop us from delivering a car...we just deal with it.
When you get your Capital One package, they should have some information on what to do if the "dealer" won't accept payment. Capital One is not some "internet bank" and they have the process in place to get your payment processed.
Like Jmurman said, the F&I guy will 99% of the time match that rate they will forgo the juice in order to keep the volume.
You are doing good, call Capital One and ask them what to do if the dealer gives you issues and then tell F&I he needs to best it by a 1/4 point or let him match- your call.
Just wanted ask what rate you got with Capital one auto financing and if they were good to deal with so far.
many thanks
I'll probably play it by ear. If they try to screw me with bank loan (my brother got charge $395 3 years ago) application fee or other things, I use capital one and if they say no, I'll get up and walk. I can wait to get the truck and probably will be a lot cheaper when summer comes.
I don't think your offer is way out of line. We bought our 06 pilot-EXL last week. Sticker price was $35,xxx. We purchased it for $31,900 this The only extras where cross bars, Navi (love), the running boards, wheel locks, and mud guards. Add on the $599.00 dealers fees and you got $32,499. So I don't think you are that far off. I know there are formulas you can follow invoice price (which Edmunds and intellichoice give you) plus invoice price of the options on the vehicle you are looking at. But, to be honest I just look at the bottom price on the sticker. Instead of figuring all that stuff out I immediately subtract 2k, by asking there best price right off the bat. I won't even test drive unless 2K comes off the sticker. After I test drive then the nego start.
My husband then goes to the general manager of the dealership and he got another 2K.
So I think we did very well on our deal. As far as the wood grain I have a guy that all he does is detailing and for $350.00 (labor +materials) he is going to get the Honda wood grain kit and detail the interior for us. Hopes this helps.
Anyone who lives in the Orlando area and would like to know the dealership we went to, we would be glad to let you know. BTW we also had a o4 Sieanna van, whick I loved to death. That vehicle was so smooth!! But I can honestly say with the sunroof, voice activated navi, backup camara, 6-cd changer and leather. I feel a little bit more pampered. And that what it's all about.
Send me an email, ok?
Thanks
36 month 12K lease from Honda Financial
$30095.00= MSRP
$27135.00= invoice+destination fee= $550
$595.00= acquisition fee
No $1999.00 cap cost reduction
No $375.00 security deposit
Honda "preferred" money factor 0.00022x2400= 0.528% due to no security deposit
$345/mon= pymt (includes CA $24.82/month tax)
$322= Lic, doc, etc. fees
$667.00= drive off
Residual= $16,552.25= 55%
Got wheel locks, rear mud flaps.
Note: This Saturday I will go with the new 3/1/06 promotion because the money factor is slightly lower than the prior promotion with a new residual at 55% vs the old of 57%.
In my opion these leases are great deals, if you stay within the mileage, because you borrow money at 0.528%, drive the car for three years and if you don't like the car in the end just return it.
