I am only quoting what the Flowmaster tech told me about their system and Michigan winters. I don't think he was referring to their muffler, but just the piping. As to the standard exhaust that comes with the truck, it was my understanding that the whole system was stainless steel with the rear half being aluminized stainless steel. I am no expert on this matter, so if my information is wrong please excuse me. Later, NB2169
The total system is all Stainless including what comes from factory. Wise choice on the Borla (however I am biased since I have one to)But what a leap in faith buying before you got the truck.....
I am not one of the unfortunate ones who are waiting endlessly for an ordered truck to arrive. I placed my order about 3 weeks ago with a large dealership with multiple locations who has a very large allocation. My truck is scheduled to be built this coming week (week of April 3rd). They told me back when I ordered it that it would probably take 5-6 weeks. It appears that their estimation was fairly accurate. Anyway, I am pretty excited about getting the Borla exhaust system. Does yours have that throaty, mellow exhaust note? That's what I am looking for out of the system I purchased. I assume that, other than for the pipe configurations, the performance mufflers from Borla are all the same exhaust note wise. Is this correct? Later, NB
I believe that to be correct, however this is the first Borla set-up I have ever purchased, throaty mellow exhaust is just how to describe it, the sound gets better every day it's not obnoxious but you know it's there. Are you getting the dual side exit behind rear wheels? or dual out the back? Either one you will appreciate the ease with installing this system, perfect fit out of the box! I take that your better price is due to your living closer to shipping point? Did you get it from Summit Racing? My stock system now hangs out in the shed haven't decided yet whether to sell it or not. I don't think there would be a market for it yet since the configuration is only 2 years old with new body style.
I am getting the dual split rear exhaust that exits under the rear bumper. I am not very close to the shipping point. I live in Michigan and the company I bought the system from is in Utah. The companys' name is Competion Design. The $490.00 does not include shipping, but they told me they did not expect it to be much more than $20 to $30 dollars. So the maximum I'm looking at $520.00. I think it may be a good idea to question their first quote. Their first quote was $526.00,but I told them Borla told me I should expect it to cost $499.00. They did a quick turn around and quoted me the $490.00 figure. It made my day! As to the old exhaust system decorating your shed wall, I think you should go ahead and sell it. You say you are going to keep the truck 10 to 12 years and the Borla exhaust is going to outlast the truck. You really don't need the old system and the money you get for it will buy another nice upgrade for your truck. My .02 worth of wisdom. Have a nice weekend! Later, NB
it is unwieldy to manage, and difficult to use for "newbies". There is entirely TOO much topic duplication, so I will be doing some SERIOUS topic consolidation in the next few weeks, getting us down to not more than 2-3 topics per vehicle type, and ultimately down to 200 topics or less.
THIS weeks consolidation candidates are: F-150's, Silverado's, Dakota's, and Dakota Crew/Quad cabs.
In that vein, please consolidate this Silverado topic to Chevy Silverado - Continued IX and continue these discussions there.
Thanks!
