I have a 2010 cx-9 with 96k. I love the car and I haven't had any problems with it until now. I first started smelling a burnt rubber smell or a burnt animal smell. This later turned into a propane smell after driving for 10 minutes on the highway. The smell is so strong that I have to open the windows. I took it to a transmissions shop and was told that it is the transfer case and transmission oil leaking on the exhaust. Has anyone else had this problem? What was the cost to repair it?

If it's just a seal it might not cost very much at all. Hopefully you didn't completely run out of fluid.
