    Not an engineer, but wouldn't it be easier to reprogram the button to only work if the car were in Park, Neutral or at 0 mph? That just seems extreme.

    You might need an emergency shut off feature in case of say jammed throttle or even the driver losing consciousness, etc.

    The passenger or driver could always put it in neutral which would be safer then turning the car off. Reprogramming sounds like it would be a better idea
