Question on leasing a 2015 Explorer XLT.

I'm shopping for a 2015 XLT. I'm having a tough time getting all the pertinent info from the Ford dealers here in NY.
I know exactly what options I want and each dealer (4) has the car, and the sticker is $40,285. (202B package).

Yesterday, in person, I was quoted $482/month on a 36 month, 12K mile lease with only first month and DMV fees due at signing. ALL other costs and fees including taxes are rolled into the price. My question is exactly what a salesperson asked me last night when I sat down with him. After his manager refused to actually give the amount he's selling the car for and the MF, he asked "if you are shopping multiple dealers for the same exact car and terms, why do you need anything else but the monthly payment?"

Other then to find out if they are all overcharging me, what would be the answer to that?

The 3 prices I got from 3 local dealers, same car, same terms, were $482/month, $469/month and $449/month. (36 month, 12K mile lease with only first month and DMV fees due at signing.)

No one would put it in writing, so I don't know if it's legit.

Can you tell me if these prices are in the ballpark with info provided and what you think the best way to proceed is.

Thanks.

We're in the same boat you are ... I can't model a payment without knowing the MSRP and the selling price. Without it, the dealer has too much wiggle room to mess with the numbers.

For the record, the 36 month MF is .75% (divide by 2400 to get the "real" MF) and there is $1750 of lease cash available - subtract this after negotiating your best price.

36/12 residual on the XLT AWD is 54%.

Don't negotiate payment, negotiate selling price just as if you were going to buy it.
