Should I buy even if it will be discontinued this year? or should I get a GLA?

Since the autumn of 2014 I've been shopping around for a Merc since due to my work I qualify to special discount programmes and I don't pay taxes locally. I was interested initially on the GLA 220, on which I would get a 15% off its list price, less other border taxes not applicable to me would yield a total price of 36, 200 Swiss Francs. However, recently I got an offer from the dealer on a 2015 GLK 200 CDI, with a 25% off its list price. All in all, the GLK after the discount and a 7,000+ cash bonus due to the model being phased out, it is offered to me at 31,800 Swiss Francs.

Now, I can't decide and I'm thorn between the two models. Even if at first sight it seems that getting the GLK may make more economic sense, I'm somewhat apprehensive that being a discontinued model it will likely lose value faster. However, I do feel that the GLA even with the discounts and all feels a bit overpriced.

I must say that I like both models a lot and both model satisfy my current and near-future needs. Whichever car I go for I will have to keep for at least 3 years otherwise I'd lose the tax exemption. It is worth mentioning that I could only use this benefit once, therefore, I've to be somewhat wise in my choice.

In short, it would be great if anyone out there could give me an opinion on the residual value of the GLK as compared to the GLA adjusted to reality in the years to come. And if possible an honest opinion on what car may be the best buy.

Is the GLK being discontinued? Or, just replaced with a new version?

Any sort of financial analysis is just going to be a guess.. My advice is to buy what you really want to drive for the next three years. With the 4400 lower entry price, I certainly wouldn't be worried about depreciation on the GLK. It may be greater from a percentage standpoint, but not likely to be more in actual dollars (or francs).

Pick the one you like the best. (without regard to finances). Life is too short to drive a car that you don't love.
