Honda Accord accelerator cable problem

i have a 1994 accord and the accelerator cable keeps melting. it workd fine for a little while when i add a new cable but then it melts. i noticed smoke coming from the spring on the throttle body linkage. i was told it was probly coming from the t.p.s there is also small burn mark on theplug wheree it connects to the t.p.s i know the linkage rod runs from the t.p.s thru the throttle body to the linkage where the cable attaches. does this sound like it could be the problem or is theere another issue. someone please help i am a cancer patient and this is my only way back and forth to my chemo treatments... please help

Hmmm....a short to ground through the accelerator cable? Yeah, that's possible. I once saw a car doing this through the clutch cable.
