Have a 99 Lincoln continental, replaced the alternator twice still won't charge. Is there a fix for this other than the alternator?

Ok people, I spent some more time looking at the car. As it turns out it is the 175 amp maxi fuse was blown. You can find it in front of the fuse box under the hood. In the owners manual it says generator not alternator for this maxi fuse, hence my over looking it the first time. A simple check is to turn the key on and see if you are getting voltage to the big heavy wire on top of the alternator. Something I should have done before taking out the first alternator.

Thanks for the feedback on this jrs. Much appreciated and glad you're back on the road. Hmmm...I wonder why the maxi fuse blew? That's a big honkin' fuse. Did you ever have a jump-start mishap or something? Anyway, if it happens again (hope not) let us know and we'll all try to dig into it with you.

I bought the car to flip it. It came to me with the alternator problem. I hope it was something simple like a jump start gone bad. We will see, I havn't had time to see if it's going to fry the new fuse.
