that quote of $30,750 + additionals came to me from the Costco Auto buyer program. when i went to the dealer, they gave me an out the door of $36,464 with very little wiggle room ... hence i walked out!
  • rovingeyerovingeye Member Posts: 13
the $1000 incentive program is for folks who have leases only - there is no other program that Nissan is offering.

I just got a quote of $25,800 on a Murano S AWD with convenience package from a dealer. Is this a good deal? Can I get them lower or is this the best I can do? I am a first time car buyer and am new to the process.
  • dustinbndustinbn Member Posts: 8
I would not wait until the end of the year as Nissan is doing a pretty good deal this month. Every dealer will have a different price until close to the end of the month because there are no official incentives but there is $500 dealer cash and if a particular dealer hits their goal they will get a $1000 dealer cash. At my dealership the number is way high and business has been a bit slow and I work at one of the largest in the midwest. Not sure what is going on in New York or other parts of the county. I have been quoting all Muranos at $900 below invoice and I have not lost a deal yet so this is likely the best you are gonna do this month. There is a overabundance of Murano inventory but I do not think this will last until December and I bet next month Nissan will make the $500 dealer cash a customer rebate next month but the net price will likely be the same. Good luck and the Murano is a awesome crossover. BTW you do not need all wheel drive as this is a front wheel drive and unless you live on a steep driveway or do plan on going off road the front wheel drive with the standard VDC is fine. unless you are leasing as the AWD has a better residual.

On the Carmax.com web site, they are showing new 2009 Muranos for $1,500 to $1,700 under invoice at their White Marsh, Maryland store. These same vehicles were only $1,000 under invoice just last month. Seems like Muranos are not moving well which bodes well for an educated buyer.
  • woodlandwoodland Member Posts: 12
I agree! An educated buyer who does a little research and is ready to stand firm can get more than $900 under invoice easily. There are no incentives now except the lots full of Muranos so if you can then wait till the End-Of-Year sales. A consumer buying an SUV in this market of high gas prices is in the power seat, don't let car salesman convince you otherwise!
    :)

What would invoive be on a Murano S AWD so that I can gauge my current offer of 25, 800?
  • woodlandwoodland Member Posts: 12
invoice is 27,071 (destination charge included). 2% nissan holdback is ~$440.

looks like a good price. if it were me, i would take my chances and wait until the end of november for the best deal but if you want the car now then go ahead and get it and feel good about it. theres no specials going on right now and you got that price so imagine what price you could get at the end of year when all car makers are having sales...
  • dc44dc44 Member Posts: 19
What is going on at the end of November that would make it worthwhile to wait for? Do dealers (especially Nissan) have special deals going on that end on 30-NOV?

I just got an offer for a 2009 fwd silver murano sl with black cloth and the premium package for $27899 from a dealer in minnesota, is this a good deal? I am located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota so if you know of a better deal near me pass on the info. Thanks in advance!

I tried negotiating over emails with several dealers in SoCal and the best offer I could get was right at invoice - $33,750 for an SL FWD with Tech, Nav, Leather, Moonroof, Prem Pkg, Splash Guards, floor mats and cargo protector. MSRP was $37,060. I ended up walking into a dealer close to my home that originally quoted the same for $34,150 thinking that I could talk her down. Surprisingly, instead of confirming her original quote, she went straight down to $32,750 - $1000 below invoice. I had her fill it with a tank of gas and went home the happy owner of a new Murano. Financing was 6% with 750+ credit scores.

Since nobody else talks about it here I figured I'd also let you know that I bought the extended warranty as well. 6 years / 75k miles with $0 deductible on the top level service plan. They wanted something like $3500 - absolutely ridiculous. I told him $1865 since that was the best I found it for online and after a while he took it.

Always wait till the end of the month to make your purchase! It makes all the difference.

Just an FYI for future. Look into extended warranties through credit unions. I purchased a 7yr/70K mile warranty at my credit union for my new Murano SL with all the bells/whistles for just $550...total! $50 deductible...but for the difference in cost on the warranty itself, I'd have to rack up a lot of $50 charges to make up the difference in overall cost.
  • desertdivadesertdiva Member Posts: 10
Oh and one more FYI...check out Credit Unions for financing options too. My CU offered me a 4.74% on a car loan with my 750+ credit score. Didn't need or want it as I paid cash my Murano.

Hope you enjoy your vehicle. I was driving an Acura sedan before, which I loved. However, my 10 year old daughter thinks the Murano is waaay cool over the sedan.

I am planning on pulling the trigger tomorrow - the best price quoted so far is approx. $31K. OTD is $34K. Netto $$460 below invoice. From what I have experienced this is the best I have found and I am already 30 days behind in my purchase plan.

How much have I been screwed by? Feedback please. I am going for a 2009 SL AWD with Leather, Premium, Moonroof. Floormats & Mudguards.

How much did you pay for it? Which state/city?

First of all, thank you for people's posting here. This forum helped me a lot. Thus, I want to share my buying experience.

I bought 2009 Murano 2WD SL + Leather+Prem.+Tech + Splash guard + Floor mat on Sep.27, 2008 OTD is $32,671.91 (4.99% finance) Car price only is $30,006.41. (MSRP: $33,370) The color is Glacier Pearl.

My dealer shop is in Costa Mesa in CA. I think this is less price than carsdirect.com's price. I satisfied with price and Murano. I spend about 2 weeks research before buying. Personally, I would recommend you to choose Tech Pakage. It is really convinence like intelligence key system.

I wish my experience help you and you would make better deal.

    Thank you

Interestingly, it seems like prices for 2009 Muranos have gone up in the last couple weeks. The offers I see on Web sites and on carmax.com are much higher than they were in September. What's odd is that Murano sales were down AGAIN according to Nissan, almost 16% down from September 2007. And, there no no rebates or incentives for Muranos right now (Nissan is offering incentives for every other model except the Murano).

Has anyone heard anything that might explain this?
  • slshopperslshopper Member Posts: 3
I just bought an SL AWD last week with premium, leather, tech. Tinted Bronze/black leather. I love it. I used the VPP discount and the dealer honored a quote he gave me in Sept even tho I purchased in Oct. They said Muranos WERE selling, so there were no rebates, but if you look at the dealer inventories on the nissanusa website, there are a lot of them out there -- some even at the old price before Nissan increased the base and destination charges over the summer. I read the same thing you did on the sales being down and hoped for a rebate this month. Nissan is offering .9% financing for 36 months this month. With the VPP discount, I got an extra .5% off, so am financing at .4%. I was going to pay cash, but that rate was too good. I found a calculator online that compared paying cash with financing and the low finance rate with a rebate. Even tho there was no rebate, I used $1000 rebate just to compare and the low finance rate worked better for me, so I'm happy. But I agree with you -- it makes no sense not to have a rebate on the Murano.

I purchased my Murano last week (SL AWD, Leather, Tech, Premium) and the dealer gave me a week to decide on the extended warranty. I never got one in the past, but do realize there are a lot more electronic components that can go bad in this newer model. I'm assuming I will keep the car beyond the 3 yr warranty. I drive less that 7K miles/year. Any advice on what level I should consider? No navi or moonroof, but they suggested the Gold Preferred. Is it true I have to sign up within 7 days of purchace? I actually was so disctracted with the new car, I forgot and now I only have one day left to decide! Or do I??????
  • dc44dc44 Member Posts: 19
What part of the country are you in? What price did you end up paying (relative to invoice)? I'm not familiar with the extended warranty regulations so I can't comment on that...sorry.
  • desertdivadesertdiva Member Posts: 10
Quickly contact a Credit Union. They offer much better extended warranties for cars. Got my 7 year/70K mile gold level warranty w/$50 deductible for just $550....well below what the dealership wanted for its warranty. I never buy extended warranties...but like you...felt that will all the added tech on this vehicle it would be a good item to have.

    Good luck...

I just recieved a quote for a 2009 silver SL 2wd with black cloth & the premium pacakge for $26,698. Is this a good deal and where is it compared to the invoice price?

    Thanks!
  • dc44dc44 Member Posts: 19
I'm not sure if your quoted price includes freight or not, but according to Edmunds.com, here is the invoice price for the car you described:

    2009 Murano SL 2WD $26,184
    Premium package $867
    Freight $780
    TOTAL $27,831

This forum has been fairly helpful to me by going through experiences and I just wanted to share that I too have gone through and purchased my 2009 SL AWD (Merlot).

To summarize, it seems that the Mid-west, West coast are the best places for deals on a Murano. The tri-state area dealers are sticking with their quotes and the best you end up getting is approx. $800-900 below invoice unlike the rest of our brethren who seem to walking away with as much as $3000 below invoice!

I shall be sticking around if anyone wants to ping me on my experiences in NJ. I eventually made my deal through a dealer-partner of CarsDirect.com in Jersey City, NJ.

Just bought a new 2009 Murano SL AWD with premium package, moonroof, leather, floor mats, and splash guards. $ MSRP 34,240 including freight--- out the door for $ 29266 + 152 doc fee which is standard in Illinois. Got 3.9% 60 month loan from Nissan and free oil changes every 3750K for first three years. Best deal for me by far in the area --- and I checked. Sapphire blue with beige interior. And the dealer has complimentary candy, coffee, chips, muffins, soda and hdtv. I'm loosening my belt a notch as I write.

Any body have buying experince with the LE model, how much below invoice are they going, Any body advice please
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
the dealer I am buying from has 5k off to start off loaded LE's. Since I got that off my SL, there might be more to be had if you work with a cold heart and nerves of steel.
  • dc44dc44 Member Posts: 19
    Jayrider,

How much negotiating did you have to do to get that price (almost $5,000 off invoice out-the-door)? When you referred to teh 5k off the loaded LEs, was that off MSRP or invoice? I'm guessing that is off MSRP but just want to make sure. I'm looking at LEs right now and I live in the DC area. I'm wondering if I should go in and offer a dealer $5k off MSPR for a loaded LE. The worse they can say is no, right?
  • pop11pop11 Member Posts: 7
the best I heared was 500 off invoice
  • dealmaestro10dealmaestro10 Member Posts: 20
Hi Jayrider, which dealer did you negotiate this deal with. I am in Chicago as well and in the market for the same make and model as yours. Can you please provide some details.
    Thanks
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
My new Murano slept well last night in my garage. I could tell by the smile on her face. The dealership is Autocenters Nissan in Wood River, Illinois just north of St. Louis. You can find them with a search engine.
I had no trade and my credit score is at the top so I qualified for the best rate available. I originally was interested in a fwd drive model with no sunroof and the price was msrp about 32300 but they would have had to locate one from another dealer and have it delivered so they weren't real excited about the deal. There were plenty of cars available so it was doable. The sale price was 27500 plus whatever it cost to get the car. My wife and I had been crawling all over the blue awd with sunroof in the showroom so I asked for a rock-bottom price to take that one in a quick deal. He quoted me 29266 [msrp 34240] plus the 150 doc fee and no extras. He said they were selling at a loss and that they were getting something from Nissan that wasn't advertised that made the deal possible. Whether that was true or not, the bottom line was I got the deal without being pressured to buy paint sealant, fabric guard, etc --- very pleasant experience. They like to sell from their own inventory so its easier to deal. So for 1766 we got awd and the double moonroof and we love the color. Nissan still has the 3.9/ 60mos. financing but they also have leasing deals so we got a 36 month lease. I worked the numbers myself to make sure I wasn't ripped and by paying my sales tax and 3k leasing fee we pay 330 for 36 mos which keeps the car under warranty until the lease ends. We don't drive that much being retired so the financing might be better for those who drive more than 12k per year. You should be able to hammer out a deal in chicago --- lots of competition-- mke offers over the internet and if you get a deal they try to reneg on when you get to the showroom walk out. Get everything in writing as far as dealer add-ons above the price they quote. You should not have to pay any more than my deal and ask for the oil change package. As far as the coffee [starbucks even], muffins, candy, and soda---you're on your own in that department. Happy hunting !!!

I talked to a dealer this morning about a new 2009 Murano. He said their sales were way down with the current economic crisis. he said that you had to have a 700 credit score or above to be able to finance a car. With this being said he quoted me a new 2009 Murano. MSPR was around 35000 and he said that I could have it for 31000. Is that a fair price or can I do better? How much better can I do? thanks in advance
  • dustinbndustinbn Member Posts: 8
First of this is complete bs that you have to have a 700 credit score to finance a car. You do need to have a 690 to 700 credit score to qualify for the 0.9% apr for 36 months or there is 3.9% for 60 months and even 4.9% if you wanted to go 72 months. It has been a bit harder to people financed lately with poor credit but as long as you average to good credit there is no real change. I am not 100% sure what kind of Murano you are looking at but if it list for about $35k and he can in fact sell you this Murano for 31k then that is about $1000 under invoice and as long as there is no surprises when you go to buy it then you are getting a great deal. A Murano with a 35k list will invoice for about $32k and there is no rebate's or dealer cash this month like we have had in the past few months because they are offering the special apr. I am at one of the largest dealerships in the mid-west and I have been offering about $500 under invoice but I imagine that the guy was guessing or putting you out on a nunmber that he really won't be able to do and the price will magically go up when you go back. Let us all know if he does honor that price and where this dealer is.
  • dustinbndustinbn Member Posts: 8
did you do this deal in September? Or was it this month? Also you said a 3k lease fee? What is that? You had to put 3k down?
  • snap919snap919 Member Posts: 17
When you say out the door did that include tax? :)
  • snap919snap919 Member Posts: 17
    Hi
What did you end up paying? Pre-tax, I'm in NYS. Thanks!
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
There are a ton of muranos on the lots. The leases offered by nissan require about 3k payments for all their cars. It includes the first payment. The 39 month length is funky because it leaves you without the warranty for 3 monthes. Very convenient if they find a problem when you turn the critter in. I opted for the 36 month deal which probably raised my payments a few bucks but they were VERY accomodating. They want to move cars and my credit rating was comfortably above 820. The taxes were 1900 and with license and fees including the 3000 dollars I was just over 5k down.. The deal they were getting from nissan was good for this month according to the saleman but who knows. With the economy the deals may be better in december or january. I'm not too worried I didn't wait --- if i have to I'll scarf down as many Otis Spunkmeyer $2.00 muffins and guzzle mugs
of Starbucks over the next 3 years to make up the difference.[burp]
The bottom line on the deal was that I negotiated the price at $29266 which was almost 5k off sticker[34240]. Taxes and license are extra and I chose to pay those outright along with the 3k lease requirement. This was a real deal and the best by a grand of anything else I could find.
I didn't have to negotiate much at all once I said over the phone, " Give me the absolute bottom line price to move that murano off your lot today". He came back with the 29266 and it never changed one dollar, even when I switched from buy to lease. I'm over 60 and bought alot of cars and this was one of the best buying experiences I've had. I was respectful and friendly but when dealing I was confident and unemotional because I knew I could handle the finances and could easily walk away. I didn't have to act --- I popped a xanax ---- sweeeeet!!!

You can check their website out at www.dobbsnissan.com. They have prices listed on their website. Let me know your thoughts. thanks
  • dustinbndustinbn Member Posts: 8
I went to Dobbs Nissan website. It appears on the Murano they are listing their e-price as about true net net cost on the Murano. As long as when you get there they do not add stuff to the Murano like a undercoating or pin stripe and then charge a lot of money for it they are great prices. Also make sure that destination is included as this is another good trick. Let us all know if they truly honor their "e-price" Good luck!

    Jayrider,
    Congrats on your great deal!!

Do you think you would have had such a huge discount on the price if you
    were buying and not leasing?
Reason I ask is, we have been in contact with two nissan dealers (one in
person one on the phone) and neither dealer will negotiate lower than the
    invoice.
We are a little over 2 hours from WoodRiver and if I thought they would
deal with us I would call or even make a trip over tomorrow.
    Thanks!!
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
My deal right up to the hour I closed was a purchase deal with 3.9/ 60 month financing. I changed to the lease at the last minute and the price never waivered.
Go to the autocenter website and click on specials. Try the name at the top of the list [or others if you prefer] and tell him his blues hocky buddy suggested you could get a super price.
One caution though is that there are muranos on the lot with dealer add-ons. They should give you a rock bottom price on the phone. Doc fee of 150 there is a 25$ filing fee on the order form but they backed off that fast. License & tax extra.
Tell them you live 2 hours away and that you are ready to deal and the dealers near you are not negotiating. Depending on what you want, things could happen fast. Good luck !!!

I received emails from two different Nissan dealers today (I live in northern Virginia). Both stated that Nissan was offering incentives, including cash back, to sell more vehicles before the end of October. Anyone else hear about this? There are a lot of vehibles on the lots right now and this weekend could be a good time to pounce. Thoughts?

UPDATE: One of the dealers just emailed me again and said they are offering 0% financing and $1,000 rebate on 2009 Muranos, and the offers CAN be combined.
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
    I guess that's why my $34 k sl was discounted to $29 k.
  • mark_emark_e Member Posts: 3
I got one of those emails as well from a dealer in Clarksville, MD.
  • dc44dc44 Member Posts: 19
2009 Muranos listed on Carmax.com just dropped in price by another $1,000 overnight. They are now selling for about $1,500 under invoice at the White Marsh, MD location. The next 8 days could be a goldmine for anyone looking to buy a Nissan, especially a Murano.
  • jayriderjayrider Member Posts: 3,602
Nissan usa posted a 1k rbate on the muranos. This was likely available to the dealers for a while but not advertised. They could choose to pass it on [ out of kindness] or keep it.I priced my murano at $2600 under invoice so everyone should expect at least $3600 under invoice for a sl awd listing at about 34500. Since muranos haven't been selling, they didn't do too well. Now nissan has published the rebate so get to the dealerships early to avoid long lines and empty lots.
  • rovingeyerovingeye Member Posts: 13
Yes its official as of now I have emails from dealers offering me $1000 cash back and 0% APR as of last week. I guess I was a little hasty in pulling the trigger!
  • dmdlmdmdlm Member Posts: 6
    Jayrider,
Thank you so very much for the info about the WoodRiver dealership!
We went on Sat, a week later than planned, but WOW did that work
in our favor with the additional 1000 rebate!!

You were so right about the snacks!! The starbucks and soft drinks
and every conceivable snack food from muffins to candy bars to chips
to fresh fruit was most impressive! It was especially appreciated after
our 2 hour drive to get there.

I got my gorgeous silver, SL AWD Murano for 5,400 under sticker
price. (30,600 for 25,200) Better than anyone around here could/would
even come close to. (She is not loaded, but I had no interest or need
for all that extra stuff like moon roof or nav or tech. I personally did not
want even leather, so the car is perfect)
The nearest two dealerships are 40 and 80 miles away, respectively.
So the additional 45 minute drive was well worth it.

I will wave each time I drive along 270 to the airport! :)
