A Disappointing car
Last July I leased a new 2014 Ford Focus EV. This car leaves a lot to be desired. I haven't had one bit of help from Ford with this car. It's not my first but it definitely is my last Ford product. The handling leaves a lot to be desired for one thing. The window in the rear hatch has a pattern in it that looks like it's been put through a waffle iron. This is extremely distracting when looking in the rear view mirror. The problem varies with the lighting and can be pretty bad at times. Ford will not even discuss the problem. I've been to two dealers and I've written to Ford customer service. They are not interested because some of the other cars have the same problem so that makes it normal according to Ford. In this case how do we ever get cars recalled if more than one with the same defect automatically makes it normal? They refuse to discuss that issue. In addition, the sync system needs revision and I understand that is being taken care of by dismissing Microsoft. My phone keeps disconnecting for some reason and I have to keep re-connecting it all the time. They kept it overnight and hooked up a phone to it and it didn't disconnect that one night so therefore there is nothing wrong according to Ford. I have been told that the Sync system is just fine but yet a while back I received either a letter or an e-mail from Ford saying that because of problems with the system the warranty was being extended to five years and Microsoft was being discontinued. That doesn't sound to me like the sync system is fine and working well. In addition, the source on the sound system can just change at will. I play my music that is on an SD card and plugged into the USB port. That changes at will to radio. It doesn't sound much like the sync system is that fine to me. There are lots of other minor things wrong with this car so everything added up together makes this a very poor investment.
