Reset the computer

I have a 1994 BMW 7 Series.The battery has been died for a year so I got a new battery and when I put it in it still didn't seem to work. So I'm trying to figure out how to fix it, should I reset the computer or what please help. With much thanks Mark.

It is running rough, and when I step on the gas it just slowly dies.
