Anyone know of the reason? 106,200 miles. Started at around 105,000 when slowing but not stopping at traffic light sometimes, but not always, while trans has apparently downshifted from OD to 4th or 3rd then start to accelerate and it thunks like hell, like something in the bed fell over. Does not slip just a real heavy noise that you cannot miss. The check engine light just came on yesterday and are about to see what that is. I will assume a code or codes for the trans. Thanks for your help.

Codes might help but you may also need to get to a transmission shop for hydraulic pressure testing and/or air pressure testing of the clutch packs. Of course, check your fluid level. When was your last transmission service?

I have to schedule leaving the truck at a trans shop this week. He did read 3 codes about pressure etc. He wants to check it cold and hot so I will have to leave it overnight. Trans service was done at 101,000 miles. Fluid is clean and not burned. The guy told me not to use it if I can. I guess I will be forced to ride my sportster to work instead. The weather in jersey is still slowly getting warmer. Thanks for you quick response Mr_Shiftright.
