Whenever you change your oil, you need to reset the service mileage back to whatever distance you have selected (I set mine at 4500 miles). The Perform Service will come on until you do.

I can't find it in the cars manual...I need a shop manual. Anyone else use www.alldata.com? I have an account for my mustang and audi but don't know what kind of information they have the the 04 pacs,..being so new and all. If anyone has an alldata account on their pacifica can you tell me how in depth the information gets?

    Regards,
    J

On the EVIC controls, press MENU until it comes to USE FACTORY SETTINGS. Press STEP to change to NO (if it is set on YES, you do not have the option to change many functions), then press MENU until it comes to SERVICE INTERVAL. Pressing STEP will change this in 500 mile increments. Pressing MENU sets the miles you want and takes you to RESET SERVICE DISTANCE. Press STEP to get YES, then press MENU. This will reset the service mileage when PERFORM SERVICE is displayed. If you change the service mileage, resetting will either add or subtract the difference in miles that you have left until service is needed.

I have a 2005 pacifica and can't figure out how to get the filter housing off. Can anyone give me a quick description?

    Thanks

It's not the most user friendly air filter box I've seen. On my wife's Jeep Liberty, it's 2 pressure clamps to open and you're in. On the Pac, you have to unscrew the 2 screws as much as you can w.out taking them out. then slide/push the cover to the right (ie towards the drivers side) until the cover moves away from the 3 slots in which the cover tabs interlock. That should do it. Putting it back is just as tedious, just make sure you first put the cover tabs on the left side back into their grooves/slots, then push hard to the left. Tighten the screws, nice and snug, and you're done.

I just changed mine at 8800 miles and was surprised at how dirty it was. While I had the cover and old filter off, I vacuumed the housing box of leaves and dust. Who knows maybe I can bump up my fuel economy from it's mediocre 15mpg to a wopping 17mpg. Dare to dream.

Thanks for the help, got it done! Horrible design.

If you get your gas mileage up above 15mpg, let me know :) It is the only thing I hate about this vehicle.

I'll say this, it feels slightly peppier and smoother since replacing the filter. Like I said, I was surprised it was so dirty at 8800 miles. I think I'm going to replace the filter on shorter intervals than before. I will check it every 6 months and keep one in stock just in case. I expect fuel economy to increase a bit. I'll post if it does.

Since it rated a discussion of its own, I've opened up the Chrysler Pacifica: Tire/Wheel Questions discussion and moved the recent posts on tire replacement and rims to that discussion where you may continue!

I'm a do it your-selfer; recently my headlight went out and I called the Service department to see about having it replaced; they wanted over $50.00 to change 1 bulb. I bought a set of bulbs for $20.00. What I'm trying to figure out is what the best way to change it is. I'm working on the driver's side. Should I pull out the whole light assembly? If so, is there a bolt on the bottom? Or should I lift the Fuse box and go that route. I'm currently trying the lift the fuse box route but I have to contort my hand to get it in the opening to grab the bulb. There must be a way that I can do this without taking it in. Help Please. :confuse:

I got this from the web (don't remember where). They're not my instructions so I can't confirm if they work well.

FIRST, make sure you put a small hand towel under the headlight bezel. Push it in under the headlight assembly and between the front facia. This will help keep you from scractching your chrome Bezelette (bumper insert). Kind of tricky the first time but after you do it once, it is a piece of cake. The hard part is popping it out of the snaps.
Here is the factory service manual instructions:

    REMOVAL
Open hood, disconnect and isolate the battery
    negative cable.
Remove the two headlamp unit retaining
    screws. (two screws on top)
Gently pull headlamp unit forward, unsnapping
it from the lower retaining clip. Be
careful not to damage lower retaining clip upon
    removal.
Disconnect the headlamp unit electrical connector.
Transfer the lamps to the new headlamp unit if
    replacing.
    INSTALLATION

Transfer the lamps to the new headlamp unit if
    replacing.
Connect the headlamp unit electrical connect.
Gently place the headlamp unit into the body
opening. Make sure the lower retaining clip is placed
on the retaining bar on the bottom of the headlamp
unit. Be careful not to damage lower retaining
    clip upon installation.
Install the two headlamp unit retaining screws
    Reinstall the battery negative cable.
    Verify vehicle and system operation.
