Chasing "ghosts" in a 12 year old electrical system has no easy answers. If you are very lucky, you can check, clean and tighten your battery cables on both ends to see if there's a ground problem---also the engine-to-frame ground strap; then you should also check to see that you are getting proper charging voltage; otherwise the only thing I can suggest is to have someone sitting in the car while you perform the "wiggle test" on various parts of the wiring harness, in the engine bay and under the dash, to see if you can duplicate the problem in this way and perhaps find a loose or corroded plug-in connector, or a frayed or broken wire somewhere. Beyond that, professional help might be necessary to track this down inch by inch in the harness.

You might also check out THIS RECALL to see if it applies to you.

ALSO---check that the trip mileage reset button isn't sticking/ Press it in and out a few times.

ALSO--you can try and perform a language reset:

    Turn ignition on.
Use the trip rest stem to display the Odometer on the DIC.
With the Odometer displayed press and hold down the trip reset stem, after 3-5 seconds the DIC will begin to scroll thru the 3 difference languages.
Continue to hold down the trip reset stem until the desired language is displayed then release the trip reset stem.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
