My wife and I picked up our 2016 Kia Sorento SXL V6 AWD w/Tech Package this Saturday from Koon's Kia in Woodbridge, VA. Only options were mud guards and cargo cover.

    Sale price 41,490.00

    Balance 43,949.95

We waited until after 11/2/15 since the current finance promotion was 0%/66mo with $750 off. The promotion starting 11/3/15 was the Kia "Holidays on Us" where they pay your first 2 monthly payments, up to a total of $1000. So, in effect, our total OTD would be about $43k. Something of note, after getting the car, I realized the car had been on their lot since July of this year, so they were probably very happy to move it.

The reason I selected Koons was when I requested a detailed, itemized quote for a vehicle they had in stock using the finance options and incentives I was eligible for, this was clearly and plainly laid out for me. A few other dealers, Beyer Kia, Fairfax Kia, Craft Hyundai, and Victory Hyundai, were also very adapted to my internet quote request and should be highly commended.

Some dealers attempted to start a phone conversation without reading my messages or would send quotes using incentives I wasn't eligible for; and even some dealers accused Koons of offering a price that was being calculated incorrectly, and then offered me a higher price than what Koons was offering.

If you're curious why we went with the Kia over the others: Our major requirements were 7-passenger and something with ventilated seats. I currently drive a Subaru, and Subaru doesn't offer any new 7 passenger models (yet). The Nissan Pathfinder has a CVT transmission, which I think new technology is good, but I think CVT's are still a work in progress, and I drove an Altima rental car with a CVT and it sounded horrible. The The Mazda CX-9 looks new, but is old technology: You can't get ventilated seats and the crash test results are horrendous. The new Honda Pilot is an amazing performer, but we wanted a 2nd row with 3 seats. The Elite model with ventilated seats only comes with 2nd row captains chairs, and they cost way too much anyway. The Toyota Highlander is also pricey, but the cargo space behind the 3rd row is very limited. That meant we were narrowing it down to the two 10y/100k warranty cars: The Hyundai Santa Fe and the Kia Sorento. We couldn't get a 2015 Santa Fe with the color combination we wanted, and the incentives weren't as good on the 2016s, but the real deciding factor: the IIHS crash data has the Santa Fe performing marginal in the small overlap front crash test. The Sorento (like a few others here) performed good in all IIHS crash tests. This, with the affordable technology package and the 66 month, 0% financing made the higher price over the Santa Fe easier to bear. My wife loves the surround view cameras, and I love the HID headlights, LED taillights, and the adaptive cruise/lane assist/forward collision warning safety systems.

Note: I bought my last car, 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI, after reading about the deals on Edmunds.com. So, I'm always happy to add to Edmunds when I can.

Thoroughly researched and an excellent deal! Congrats on the new Kia!
