Help. MSD's to reduce MF

I've purchased several cars but new to leasing. Saw a recent post here suggesting buying down the MF by using MSD's vs a down payment. makes since to me. At 65% residual, 35% of a DP is just gone in 36 months. Just today a Lexus dealer told me Lexus Financial "isn't really doing that anymore" after first saying he thought you could do 9x the monthly lease payment in MSD's. Having just seen June posts saying they did this I have to ask, is this possible? Or should I run, not walk, to another dealer. Have question in to Lexus Financial but they say 2 biz days for response and thinking of getting an NX this weekend.
