Want to go bigger from my Rogue

about a year and a half ago I purchased my rogue basically because I had gotten a night time job and needed a vehicle with better fuel mileage my last 3 vehicles before this were all large vehicles I went from an explorer to a dodge dakota with a v8 to a chevy trailblazer so going from these vehicles to a rogue was quite a bit different.it did not take me long to get used to the cvt and having the convenience of the awd versus 4wd is very nice but I miss my large vehicle.which brings me to my point I may be going to have to work only one job soon so gas mileage is no longer going to be an issue one of the main reasons I bought the rogue in the first place mechanically I could not be happier its just too small for me.I've always loved the look of the xterras but with the poor gas mileage that was not an option when I got the second job and needed another vehicle.I've posted a similar post on the xterra forum but obviously I am looking for an unbiased opinion of the xterras.creature comforts are not important to me though I don't plan on doing much off-roading if any at all I like the rugged look of the xterra and though I've never driven one I've heard they do sit quite high and have that truck ride feel to them which is what I am looking for.I have also considered a pre 13 pathfinder or cherokee not liking the new bubbly crossover look.the x's are on top of my list I've heard its a beast off-road but again I don't know if its worth the purchase if I am going to do very little off-roading other than the occasional beach trip I do live in the northeast so we do get snow dumps a few times a winter. So I guess my question is if anyone owns an xterra 1) does it drive like a truck 2) does it sit up higher than most suv's 3)how is it in the snow & lastly if I don't plan on doing much off-roading is it worth the money.Just a little side note I do have a 3yr old who loves the outdoors who I can already see the numerous camping trips down the line, with a second on the way.Is there any other similar vehicles I should be looking at other than the xterra mainly for the height aspect and the feeling of driving a truck with not actually driving a full size truck.

Thanks for your time all sorry so long I just wanted to make sure I got across clearly enough my question and what I am looking for.hope to hear back from a few of you soon.

At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks; you've got to go drive the Xterra yourself and decide if it's the right vehicle for your situation. See if you can take one on an extended test drive (30-60 minutes) so you can experience it under your normal driving circumstances.

When I am ready I planned on definetly doing that and you are 100% right everyones tastes and feel for what they want in a vehicle are going to differ so the only way I am going to truly going to know is by test driving one myself I could ask 100 ppl and 100 ppl will all have a different opinion on their likes and dislikes,I could go round and round till i'm blue in the face but until I actually drive one I will never know if I like it.This is a very similar situation of when I was looking to replace my trailblazer I was dead set on going with a rav4 until I drove one and was not blown away by it.then I drove the rogue and instantly knew as much as hated the idea of going into a much smaller vehicle than I was used to the rogue by just the way I liked the way it rode so much more than the rav4 that ultimatley made my decision for me.I guess what I may be asking is has anyone driven any vehicles that have a similar height and ride as the xterra that I may want to take a look when the time comes.again I do agree with you whole heartedly I am never going to really know unless I physically drive one,I was just looking to test drive a couple of vehicles that would give me that height/ground clearance I am looking for. Thanks for the info Michaell have a good day

The Forester from Subaru felt like a high ride/seating height and it is quite roomy; though not Xterra big.
