Where does one get that grill, or better yet where online can I look at it?
    Thanks!
  • graphicguygraphicguy Member Posts: 14,135
neilman had a link for pics of the grill a few posts ago. Scroll back.

neil...I thought the grill/tailpiece made a big difference too. Looks stock. And, really sets of both the front and rear of the TL. Glad you like it.

Can someone please share experience with TL buying in Georgia? Is documentation fee of $600 reasonable expense?

PS: mcossi and others - did you pay additional documentation fee on top of prices paid by you?
  • mcossimcossi Member Posts: 12
    Hey dg4,

According to this Edmunds article (http://www.edmunds.com/advice/buying/articles/117494/article.html), there is no limit to the doc fees that you can get charged in GA. However, $600 sounds ridiculous, unless your destination charge is low. In IL, we pay a destination charge of $810, a tax rate of 9.25% (nauseating) and my doc fees were around $145. If your doc fees are $600, destination charges are in the $200's and your tax rate is at 8%, then you're actually getting a better deal than me. Ask for a worksheet itemizing ALL fees/ costs to be faxed to you. If your dealer balks, then walk. My guy faxed me the complete worksheet five minutes after we got off the phone. Feel free to get one and run the numbers by us, if you'd like.

Don't know who wrote that article but to my knowledge destination fees for any particular vehicle is the same nationwide. There should be no difference in the official destination chg from the manufacturer on the window sticker for a TL delivered to New York, California or Georgia or any state. There may be a difference for Alaska and Hawaii but I doubt. This was always a bone of contention when a Ford made in Detroit was sold in Detroit and it had the same destination fee as the one being sold in California. People would say, "why should I pay this big destination fee if it was just made down the street. The answer: That's just the way it is.

If the "destination chg" that is being referred to is more of a "dealer prep fee" or something like that than there obviously could be, and I'm sure are, major differences.

As graphicguy noted...there is a link I added a few posts back with pics. I haven't taken pics of my car with the new grill yet. The money was well spent on this upgrade and will it keep me so much happier with the car for years to come.

The grill / rear trim are original acura parts and available at the dealers. It comes as an option on the 2010 TL...but perfectly fits the 09 as well.

    Thanks!

Thanks guys, dunno how I missed that one.
  • neilmanneilman Member Posts: 42
No problem Chas...best thing I would suggest is to visit a dealer and see it live. My dealer here has it installed on a vehicle in the showroom. One of the staff also had it on his black TL so I saw exactly how it would look on my black one. That's what I did and it made the decision to get it much easier to make.

    Thanks!
  • ChasboyChasboy Member Posts: 186
I did see it at my dealer when I went for my first oil change. It was also on a black car, which always looks great. I'd love to see it on a white one.

Was that including tech package? I was given $32600 less $1500 loyalty for an Acura TL with tech. Any thoughts on this price ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

kswamy, can you tell me the dealer that you went to? I live in the area and want to buy the 2010 Acura TL SH-AWD Tech. That price that you paid it's great. Thanks for your help.

Live in the Washington DC area and find the Maryland dealers (ChevyChase and Rosenthal) extremely good to work with. They respect your intelligence and are willing to acknowledge that 1) as a buyer, you have every right to shop around and 2) they are in a competitive market.

Just purchased a new 2010 Acura TL SH-AWD Tech @ Pohanka Acura. Great prices right off the bat. Only haggling was on my trade, which I bought at Pohanka last year. Here is the breakdown:

2010 Acura TL SH-AWD Tech with Wheel Locks, Body Side Molding, Splash Guards, All Weather Mats and Trunk Tray.
    MSRP: $43,916 (including options)
Paid: $37,444 + TTL and got $0.9% fo 60 months.
    TTL = $1,600 or so, OTD = $39,100K.

Traded in a 2009 MDX Sport which I purchased for $41,900 OTD (including sport running boards, all weather mats and trunk tray). They gave me $37,600 for my trade. So, I used the MDX for 15 months and lost $4,300. Basically leased it for 1 year 15 months @ $285 per month. Not too shabby!

Hope this helps. Use overstock.com as your baseline and go from there. Pohanka is the Chantilly overstock dealer.

Yes it has the 18 wheels, also wheel locks, mud guards and trunk tray....if you got the little extra cash ....buy the sh awd tech it is worth the money..I had the 09 TL with Tech pkg...the 2010 Sh is like a diff car...it looks nicer with the 4 Exhaust pipes plus with the wheels and rims and with the awd it drives and out performs the 09 I had .... This is just a fun car to drive .. SH AWD is the way to go..... Seeya,Don

Congrats on Your new ride, I have been to their dealership once,
    Very nice price,
    Thankyou

I echo everything stated above by don219. Mine had the 18" wheels.

If you can afford the extra $2.5K to get the bigger engine and SHAWD, do it. It is like driving two different vehicles. If you get 0.9% financing over 60 months, that's about $45 per month. Well worth it, IMO.

I also really like the Body Side Molding. It really adds a nice line to the vehicle. I didn't see the need to add 19" wheels... only adds to the cost of tire replacement later down the road also (I would imagine). Four days in and I'm loving this car!

I paid $37,850 3 months ago for exactly what you got. I still have my Honda Pilot for my trips to the 4x4 fun Desert or Home Depot, but what a JOY it is to drive the SH-AWD every day. I was having so MUCH FUN, that I went out and purchased a Escort 9500iX radar detector, so I could continue to have even MORE FUN!!!! ;););)

As a female one of our worst nightmares is buying a car so any advice other than mother would be most aprpeciated. I am currently leasing a 2008 TL and thought of buying out the end of the lease for 24,000 and change. I am currently being asked to consider a new TL which I would get AWD due to need to work during snow and tech package. My quotes are between 36, 753.00 and 36, 962. (not including MV, tags etc. I would love to get into a new car with more options however unsure if I am getting a good deal and if there will be some hidden tricks I won't be ready for. I would appreciate any thoughts or advice. PS I'm in Jersey if that makes a difference.
  • billyperks2billyperks2 Member Posts: 378
First off, are you happy with your 2004? If yes, why get into higher payments?
Look at the residual on your lease agreement and try to knock off a few dollars.
Secondly, if you really want the AWD TECH that they are offering you and your pockets are deep enough, go for it. The prices they are quoting does not seem to include destination, ask the sales rep to be certain. If it does include destination, those quotes are ridiculously low for the AWD TECH. I paid 37.9K last summer and I did a lot of reaserch and visted a lot of dealers-even in Jersey, I am from CT.

Good luck on whichever way you choose to go.

I agree. If you can afford it, go with the SH-AWD. Haven't met a corner I didn't like and the drive to work is so much better!

I got the 19" wheels, but in FL no snow to worry about. I too was worried about replacement costs with the 19's but called around to several tireshops before I bought my TL and the difference was minimal, about $50-200 more for a set of 4 tires (depending on the brand) when compared to the 18". And the 19" rims look so much better....IMO.

An Acura dealership in Houston, TX just quoted me $35.900 OTD for an 2010 Acura TL base model. I don't know if this is a good deal. I feel like it's just average.

Please let me know what you think. I'm getting this car for my husband as a Father's Day present.

Just as a general rule of thumb, straight up deal, no manufacturer cash, no trade in which to pad the deal, no dealer add-ons, etc, just a "I want to buy your new TL, here's a check" .

There's $2,250 in dealer cash, that they have to work with. But, that's only on the TLs with the Tech Package. And, it's not available if you finance through Acura/Honda Motors Credit special finance rates.

While I can't confirm, I've heard from a couple of good sources (non dealership) that Acura raised the invoice amount on the TL sometime in April. So, anything manufactured after last month will probably cost more.

Again, just as a rule of thumb, a straight deal......a FWD TL w/Tech should be in the neighborhood of $34K (give or take a few hundred). A SH AWD TL w/Tech should be in the $38K range (give or take a few hundred).

As always, that depends on the particular geographic region you're in, if you've got a trade, if you finance, if there are "add-ons", if you buy an extended warranty, what additional fees the dealership adds to the deal, etc, etc, etc.

Does the exterior/interior color makes the difference for the price of the car? I am looking for Black/Umber SHD with Tech pack and from what I know there are about seven of these cars in the Tri-state area. Thanks for help.
  • billyperks2billyperks2 Member Posts: 378
I cannot really tell you what's a good price on the 2010 because I am not keeping up with incentives and rebates etc etc- I am not in the market anymore. I can tell you which dealers to stay away from- 1st place Devan Acura (real arrogant sales guys) 2nd place the guys in North Haven (too greedy) 3rd place Milford(bait and switch) and 4th palce the guys in Torrington (too greedy) . I think Greenwich is the best place to get an excellent deal, no bait and switch and no back room talk with slimy finance guys. I shopped around for a year and even went as far as Jersey, NY and NJ. Do your homework, find out the invoice on the car, the rebates and discounts and try to get it at or below invoice. The information is all over Edmunds, bring the printouts to the dealer, let them know that you have knowledge on whats going on.In the end, they always win but a least you will know that you did not over paid or inflate THEIR bottom line.

Thanks Don- it is very helpful. My new problem is getting out of my lease 5 months early. The so call "early lease termination program" is tacking the remaining payments I owe back onto the price of the car LOL. I so hate this process and appreciate you information. Best of Luck!! Lynda

In this economy!!! I am sure they would entertain that thought, no dealer wants to have inventory on their lots.If they are not willing to negotiate, just walk away- their lost. I tried several years ago to negotiate a residual value on a 1999 Mazda Millennia. The model year was discontinued and my wife and I liked it a lot and wanted to purchase it. They did not accept our offer and we simply just told them to come and pick the car up from our driveway.

divix....from my perspective, color shouldn't matter. However, I know the black with umber was readily available when the '10s first came out. When I was shopping (couple of months ago) they were pretty scarce. In the mid-west (I'm in OH) it seems like the dealerships are in love with the black interior. I've had many cars with black interior and decided to go with a lighter interior this go round because of the heat retention.

So, any color interior other than black seems to be somewhat scarce. I've got white diamond pearl with taupe interior. Mine is probably the only one in a 150 mile radius in that combo, I'd say. I've only seen one other white diamond pearl TL in the current model......ever. That was this past winter. I'm sure they're out there. I just don't think the dealerships around here carry many of the white.

It's mostly black, platinum, grey, and the grigio color they carry the most of. I've yet to see the burgendy, light blue, dark blue.

Prersonally, I like the black with umber. I would have bought one like that. But, I've always felt I can make a better deal on what a dealer has in stock than what he has to trade with another dealer for. So, I went the total opposite with my white with taupe.

I get a lot of compliments.

What part of the country are you in?

Graph- They all say that for the buyer to hasten their purchase- "oh that combo is scarce, let me do an inventory check in the tri state area", "oh billy, we have to order that combo from the factory"- yeah right.

On a different note- can the Nav screen be split between audio and map?
I went to lunch with my co-worker and the system in his TAHOE actually splits the screen.

    Let me know- thanks.

I am at east cost (Connecticut) and the sucks thing is that the dealer which I have used for my two previous Acuras want me to pay the most money for the black/umber ($39,159). Originally I was going to get Grigio/Umber but unfortunately Acura stopped selling this configuration for the cars of 2010. Thanks
  • graphicguygraphicguy Member Posts: 14,135
billy...I called every dealership in OH when I was shopping. At the time, there was one dealer who had a black w/umber. Maybe hit at the end of their ordering cycle (monthly?) so inventory may have been down at the time.

I could find black/black, silver/black, grey/black, grigio/black all day long, at any dealership. Nothing with taupe or umber, though.

I was just in the right place at the right time when I found my car. And, I do think dealership are more willing to deal on cars they have in stock vs cars they have to go and get.

My previous vehicle was a Tahoe. I did like the split screen capabilities of the NAV. I can tell you that that is about all the GM NAV systems are good for, though. They are pretty woeful when it comes to accuracy, speed, and functionality.

thank you everyone - 2010 Acura TL with Tech - $32,600 plus TTL. This includes the $1500 loyalty program. Is this pretty much as cheap as it can go?
Also any thoughts on leasing this or buying for this price?
Lease would be $1500 down and 35 payments of $430 for 3 years.
    Thank you again
    Rob

Rob, is Acura doing a loyalty program? I was not aware of it!!! Is that for all current Acura owners? Is that just for leasing or also for financing a new Acura too?

    Thanks!
