Crackling sound from exhaust during idling

I recently purhased a 2012 Camry, and hear a crackling noise from around the exhaust area as soon as I start the car and during idling. The noise is not too loud, so can be heard from the driver's seat only if the AC is off, windows are down and if the outside environment is relatively quiet. However, when I get out of the car and stand near the exhaust area, it is quite audible. Drove 4-5 miles and stopped and the noise still existed during idling. I'm not sure if it exists while driving as it may not really be audible at the driver's seat. Any idea if this is normal or do I need to get it checked.

Its either rubbing somewhere or your catalytic converter is coming apart.

An exhaust heat shield coming loose is a possibility but with any noise it has to be investigated first hand, anything else is just a guess.

Yeah, get it on a lift and I suspect the source will become apparent.
