How does the TCIM wiring get "SCORCHED"?

I have a 2010 Jeep Liberty Limited. I purchased it used less than 60 days ago. My RPM, electronics, headlights and even my windshield wipers act possessed. So the dealer tells me that the wiring is scorched.....HMMMMM How does that happen? It also caused my alternator to fry out.

Has anyone else experienced this type of repair?

Should I expect this to be recurring?

Any help or comments about this issue are GREATLY appreciated.

maybe short circuit somewhere in the wiring, on a high-current circuit, or a non-fused part of a circuit. could be a pinched wire somewhere. yes it could recur. i hope someone has an easier/less-expensive analysis because repair to wiring harness can be costly and can require replacement. i doubt that a bad voltage regulator could have caused it, but maybe. if voltage regulator integral to previous alternator was somehow the cause then you might be in the clear after swapping it. but if issue is a wiring short, that may kill your next alternator/voltage-regulator.

also if the vehicle is on the factory battery it is time to swap in a new battery.
