Thanks for the note. I phoned PCNA and was told that the sentence regarding changing the instrument cluster is part of the form letter and that the 08 Boxster S will not need to be changed.
Good news. I crossed the Coutts AB border today without any issues. 30 minutes to get accross. Hopefully the rest of the import journey goes as smooth. The car is fantastic.
Seriously considering buying a used 2007 or 2008 Dodge Caravan. Checked some ads online and ebay and found the prices to be significantly higher in Canada for the same year, mileage, condition, etc. All things considered, is buying in the US then importing the way to go? Also, why the huge price difference?
one big difference in price for the vehicles in supply and demand . The one thing you need to get is the VIN number and call your Dodge dealer and they will run the VIN and tell you if they can turn on the DRL's. This was the only question that I came up against when finding a van for my sister. Other than that she saved about $8000.00 US over buying 1 in BC. What a difference it was.
I'm looking for an 08/09 Accord EXL V6 in Black, automatic... Anyone have any contact/insider info for Honda's??? Does the Honda warranty void when brought across???
I just found a dealership in the U.S. that will sell a new 2009 Hyundai Sonata for $12,900 and has no diificulty selling to Canadians. I know that I cannot get warranty work done in Canada but can anyone comment on whether the dealership in the U.S. will honour the warranty as Hyundai U.S. says it can?
It is theoretically possible. Just make sure they know the vehicle is being exported and write a special note saying they will provide whatever warranty coverage is required even if the vehicle is exported to Canada.
Don't take their word for it.
It is still a good enough deal to consider going ahead, anyways as that is about $6K cheaper than the Cdn deals even with the Canadian cash rebate.

Good question, kyfdx. Now it may be worthwhile for US car buyers to cross-shop North of the border. Look at this example.
For a base 2009 Corolla, 1.8L 4-cyl, 5-Speed Manual, these are today's listed prices in Canada and USA:
CANADA (BC) MSRP $14,835.00 Administration Fee Included Documentation Charge N/C Lien Registration Fee Not Applicable Freight and Delivery $1,270.00 Battery Levy $5.00 Tire Levy $25.00 TOTAL for Finance/Cash CAN $16,135.00
USA (CA): base price $15,350 Delivery, Processing & Handling Fee $720 MSRP US$16,070
With the Canadian dollar at US $ 0.89, today's Corolla price in Canada comes to US$14,360.
Better buy quick (if you can) -- or maybe wait a few more days if you think the Canadian dollar will continue to drop (but if it does, be prepared for sudden price increases in Canada).
Hello. I'm also interested in the same Toyota Highlander Hybrid that you mentioned. Do you have info on a dealer on the east coast? Can you please e-mail me your personal experience on the purchase and importation of this vehicle into Canada?
Whoa! Slow down, please - no need to post the same request for info multiple times. Everyone on the east coast has already seen your request.

In 15 years we have never sold a car in Canada (I am in TN). All ofthe sudden in the last few months we have sold 5. The process is easier then selling a car to some out of state.
The send us a check, we send title work, they send a drive to pick it up, he takes it to the border for a week and we are done.
Is this because all of the ones we have sold are used and not new?
They have all been either Hybrid Escapes or Diesel Trucks.
Does anyone know of Mercedes or BMW Dealership that would sell their new cars to be exported? My email is eevents480@gmail.com if you don't want to put that info here
Since there are hundred of millions more vehicles in the US, Canadian shoppers still are making deals. There's a lot of internet forums that give tid-bit, and you can string them together and try to make sense, but there's a website that deals exclusively with helping Canadians import Nissan's into Canada and it's pretty good - all the small details are there. The site is run by a Canadian living in the US. ImportExpert.ca
Hi, new to the forum. I am planning to buy soon a new 2008 Highlander from USA. Can someone let me know what should be done to bring a new Toyota to Canada? Can anyone send me a good Toyota dealer info? Thanks!
HI I brought a 2008 Toyota Highlander Limited up from the U.S. and had a great experience with a dealer down there, and also a transport company. I have had my Highlander now for several months and LOVE it! I just contacted my dealer again because I needed winter tires (shoot! forgot to call him back now!) and couldn't locate ANY here in western Canada, he found some for me and was willing to get them shipped up for me as well. He is very helpful and goes the extra mile to make things smooth. I very highly recommend him. You can email me at beckie at sasktel dot net if you want his address.
I brought (personally drove) a 2007 911 4S Cab up in 2008. NO modifications required whatsoever in Canada. Had the DR Lights activated at USA Porsche Dealer when I had my pre-purchase inspection done (extra $50). Metric already available on dash. That was it!
Consider buying a "certified" car. Gives you bumper to bumper warranty for SIX years instead of 4 in both USA & Can. Good luck.
Just had a friend who bought brand new Porsche Cayenne from US Porsche Dealer. Email me at marat75@sbcglobal.net I'll reply with Dealer's info. don't want to put it up here, they may get in trouble
Hi. I went down into Washington state to purchase a new 2007 Honda CRV a couple of years ago and brought it back into Alberta. The dealer that I bought it from informed me that any regular warranty work would be done by them if necessary. In fact I had to have some rear differential work done about 6 months after I bought it and the dealer in the US said they could do it under warranty. However, I had the work done in Canada as it was only about $125. Of course my Honda dealer in Canada where I get all my service done made me pay for it. I felt at the time it was not worth driving to the States to have it done.

My idea is to buy a Sienna in syracuse and bring it up north.
I am looking for an Audi Dealer on the east coast (north of Boston) willing to sell to a Canadian. Any help would be much appreciated.

What changes were needed to bring your 911 up to Canadian specs and how much did your dealership charge to do the mods?
Thanks

Question, that I don't really see answered anywhere.
If a used US Honda vehicle is purchased in Canada from a 3rd party dealer (Non-honda), can the vehicle be dragged back to the US for Warranty work?
For example: a major component fails, can I get this US vehicle back to the US for warranty service?
I am not talking about recall work as this looks to be covered:
Honda of Canada Warranty
Should I just go with the 3rd party warranty and forget about the balance of the factory warranty?
Thanks
Hopefully this information is of some assistance.
