I ran out of gas and now my car won't start. There's plenty of gas.

It runs for a few seconds with gas poured into throttle body, then dies. There doesn't seem to be any sound of fuel pump running, and I had just replaced it last week and it was running fine....so did I ruin the new(used) fuel pump? Did we damage something when a fire started on top of the throttle body when trying to start it? I'm no mechanic and the guy who pulled my car to his property isn't either, but he's trying to help me figure it out. HELP!!!

it won't start. I put plenty of gas in. It runs for a second after putting gas in throttle body, then dies. I don't hear any sound when I listen for fuel pump at gas tank. Did I ruin my new/used fuel pump?:

You could have burned out the fuel pump. You had a fire? In that case who knows what could have been damaged.

week and it ran fine. I hear no sound of the fuel pump working at gas tank. And when we poured gas in the throttle body we started a small fire...did I damage something or ruin my new/used fuel pump by running out of gas? And for anyone who knows these cars, why won't my windows and doors work properly? Are there any other common problems I should be aware of? But, most importantly how do I get my car running so I can move it off this nice man's property?

All any of can do is guess and guessing isn't a smart thing to do.

Not much you can do on site unless you have diagnostic tools with you. I suppose you could check the fuses and also rap on the fuel pump, but really you don't know if it is spark or fuel, or injector opening that is your problem. A fuel pressure gauge would be helpful to see if there's pressure in the fuel rail. Another outside chance is that your pump sucked up all the crud in the bottom of your gas tank and either seized, overheated, or clogged the fuel filter. You should be able to hear it running when you turn the key to "ON".

Yeah, I don't hear it running when I turn on key. And it does have spark and will start for a bit with fuel poured into TBI. What is and where is the fuel rail? The fuel filter is right near the TBI isn't it? Is there a place to get good diagrams for folks who are fairly clueless abt cars? I have a suspicion it is the fuel pump again. Check fuses for what? Where are they? My mechanic put in a fuel pump last week and I paid him $150. I'm pretty broke, but I insured the pump, which we got at pick and pull. Is it very difficult to pull one out and replace if that's what I have to do? What tools, have any suggestion?
