Why Is My Oil Pressure Gauge Still Saying 20 And Going To 0 When Stopping ?
I had to change my oil sending unit switch and afterwards I had 60 oil pressure on my gauge but not long after driving it went back down to 20 and when I stopped it went to 0 and my check gauge light came on, but the dipstick said full. Within 3 days I changed sending unit 2 times and I still have the same problem. I am not leaking any oil though when I first changed sending unit because it went bad I leaked oil everywhere and lost all oil. It came out of the sending unit. Now I have no oil leaks but still having the pressure problem. I am getting ready to do a oil change even though I changed filter when I changed the sending unit the first time (2 days ago). Can someone tell me what is going on and what to do???? please

Mr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481yeah I understand but you still have to establish a baseline oil pressure reading. By screwing a test gauge into the engine you will know definitely what the actual oil pressure is. If it's really that low, then you have some internal problem. If the test gauge shows good oil pressure, then you probably have a gauge problem or instrument panel circuit board problem, or maybe just some bad ground wire. But you have to work from the "known" to the "unknown". Right now you're guessing, which can be very frustrating because there are too many unknowns to solve the problem.5
